Same if we did horrible, our band director would kill us and probably redo the songs for a month and have the other 2 months actually doing our new pieces
When I was in cadet, my teacher would give us concert music at the very very beginning of the year and made sure that we would “perfect” any mistakes we had. I loved her so much. We did so good that we actually got to perform at an MLB game!
The woodwinds have it. A couple of trumpets were playing down a partial, which is common for beginners. This was probably their first band concert as beginning 5th graders. Lots of excellent teaching and learning going on.
Not saying they arent beginners and they have some time, ( as a 6th grade band tenor sax) i had to solo in front of 4000 people for 3 MINUTES!! and did not mess up, i have been playing for 4 months.
Theres no way they're 4th or 5th graders. If they are DAMN. In 4th and 5th I sounded much better and my concerts were way better. In fact jingle bells for them is so easy...but you're right. The woodwinds were definetely carrying. Probably the clarinets, but the brass was just...
@@PremierCCGuyMMXVI You can't even tell what their intonation is with unrefined tone qualities. No hate, I love seeing young musicians play their instruments.
So if this is a beginning band (most likely 5th grade) I understand it being bad, but if it is a higher grade I am genuinely concerned on what they are being taught…
Don’t worry! This is normal for a beginning band! They only start learning their songs in November-ish because they have to learn to open and close their case, put together their instruments (that includes putting on a reed properly for woodwinds) , the correct way their mouth is supposed to be to play it , the fingering for the notes , tonguing , and rhythms . With beginners, they’re mostly focused on actually getting their sound out . I can promise that they get better once they get to their spring concert! (Also if it is a higher grade, they’re probably a bad class with a bad teacher..)
@@mitsuri5056 this is NOT normal for any beginning band this is a concert, which means they've had time to practice, which means they should sound like ANYTHING but that
I am in beginning band and I play clarinet. This is how we found the first time we play jingle bells and now this is like our concert is going to be soon and we shining better so I think they’re gonna get better.
I understand the trumpets. I used to be like that where i got confused and would accidentally play low notes. There is someone who sits next to me who sounds like that. I think i have the same hook as them.
Come on guys, you can hear that they’re still learning. So don’t make fun of them or say they’re bad. No one is going to start and immediately be good. It’s a bunch of exited kids who care what they’re doing. That can never be bad.
This is probably because they don’t practice much. In band at my school we have to practice 4-5 times a week and we have to send recordings to are teacher to show we’re actually practicing. And we only have 10 people in are band and we sound better than this and if we don’t practice as much as we’re supposed to, the next song we play for people, we can’t do it unless there is a reason why we’re not practicing. Are teacher does this because she wants us to know if we don’t want to practice there will be consequences, and than we will have a F in music as well.
I atteneded music class 6th grade, everyone does, its a cycle of robotics then spanish music then art, 6th grade we learned about the notes staff the values and other stuff, at the end of 6th grade you get to choose wich elective you want, you pick 2. This year (7th) most people returned and the begginer band in my school, played this as one of our first songs , took us 30 minutes to play it, as a percussionist (xylophone and snare drum) it kind of stings that they couldnt learn this by what i presume to he their december concert, i myself just had my concert a couple days ago and we had to play it around 5 times with solos, and they barley looked like they barley got by jingle bells
My orchestra teacher would make them close the red curtains, lecture us, and then would make them open the red curtains back up so we could try again... And then the next day we'd get the "never in my ___ years of teaching" lecture 😂😭
Honestly this is nowhere near the worst school band fail I have seen... perfectly fine for kids to have this skill level even if they should be practicing more.
Bruh how do you meet that up it’s in your book it’s my first year of band ( alto sax ) and I played 4 full page songs and these kids can’t play a two line song
I don't get how this happens. There's a flute in the front row chewing gum, the conductor has so much dead air in the beginning, and nothing is synchronized.
