Ray, you're so adorable, it makes me want to marry you! (Korean fandom joke.) Hahaha, I'm just kidding! The music is so beautiful, you and Julio are amazing! Yes!!!!
steph I know, but in Spanish speaking countries the song twinkle twinkle little star is just referred as "estrellita". So in our language it literally has the same name as twinkle twinkle little star . so I was wondering if this estrellita has something to do with the other estrellita.
Not at all. Manuel Ponce is credited as the founder of the Mexican Nationalist Music movement. The first Mexican ethnomusicologist. He went from Romanticism (Estrellita, A pesar de Todo, Apasionadamente) to Nationalism. In 1910 he made a recollection of Mexican folk music including an out of this world version of ¨La Cucaracha¨, Las Mañanitas (Mexican Birthday song), Jarabe, Sandunga, Cielito Lindo . He also wrote versions inspired in Bach, Handel, Debussy. A very prolific composer born in Fresnillo Zacatecas 1882. Success.
I was born in Zacatecas, Mexico. The same place that Manuel M. Ponce (composer of this piece), and I have to tell that I'm so proud that musicians like you play Zacatecas's music. Thank you!! Greetings! :3
Wang Frida Manuel M. Ponce was the composer of this song, is not a folk tune!!! Heifetz arranged it and Mtro. Chen is playing this arrangement, thank you
Heifetz was playing a concert in New Mexico and realise he didn’t have any Mexican music on his programme, then heard this in a bar and cause of his perfect pitch he wrote the piece on the back of a napkin, and later that night arranged it for violin and piano - that piece is what you are listening to in this video
😍 This is such a special song!!! “Little star from far heavens, you who know my woe, who sees my love, Come down and tell me if he loves me, even just a tiny bit Because without his love I cannot live ❤️ You are my little star, my beacon of light 🌟 You know that soon I shall die Come down and tell me if he loves me, even just a tiny bit Because without his love, I cannot live 🌟💕
My 8yr old girl was mesmerised by your playing and requested to hear this on repeat on spotify. Thank you Ray, for sharing your beautiful heartfelt playing 💕
Ray, this piece, this recording, means so much to me. I love it so much, i don't know know how little time you had to rehearse this but I strive to bring the same emotion out of it as you did. Your tone and your phrasing is absolutely sublime. Thank you so much for posting this.
He plays violin with so many facial expression. My sister asked me why do I keep on pouting and raising my eyebrows when playing and I said "It's a natural violinist expression sis".
Well, lifting the left eyebrow only shows his charming part and joy , and often as he goes up-bow! But with closed eyes he is very concentrated with his playing and unbeatable round Sound 😄 If Covid19 nomore troubles us Ray's in Munich soon
That was beautiful and very expressive! I would hear my mom play it when I was young-- so many years ago. It just reminds me of how melodious this piece is. You played it so well! Never heard it with accompaniment-- it is equally exquisite. Great pianist, too!
I don’t know if here are other Mexican 🇲🇽🇲🇽listeners but... I feel proud of listening one of our most popular songs . Thanks Mr. Chen for so wonderful performance . Bravo !
What you should do next is a 'How To' on Ysaÿe's third Sonata, Ballade. Go through all the technique and get people to post their videos of the attempting that piece. Man that'd be great. Mind you people would probably just look at the music and be like "NOPE!" ...so that might be an issue. Regardless of what you do, looking forward to it and keep up the nice vids!
My teacher played this at one of my lessons, and it was beautiful, absolutely breathtaking. I had to come back and listen more. My orchestra teacher thinks very highly of you.
Thank you so much Ray, I really really enjoyed watching you play this very very pretty piece and I really really love ❤️ this. And you too. You are really really handsome too!!!!!! Your playing brings me so much joy and love ❤️ for your music 🎶. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
Thank you so much Ray, I really really enjoyed watching you playing this beautiful little piece of music 🎶 and you’ve played it with such passion and sensitivity too, as you always do. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
Wow, just wow - good thing it is only 3:36 minutes long. I sat there, completely transfixed ... how is it possible to sound that great without any advanced recording technique etc.?
Estrellita is a song English Lyrics ☺ "Little star from the distant sky That watches my pain That knows my suffering Come down and tell me if she likes me a little Because I can't live without her love You are, Little star, my beacon of love You know that I will soon die Come down and tell me if she likes me a little Because I can't live without her love"

Yes, Manuel Maria Ponce composed it. I also recommend you his Intermezzo

tell her it's an musical orgasm
Forcing it is weird though.
That's so true, that's 'cause we try to feel the emotion of the piece and feel the music itself.
