The amount of people hating on a little bit of good natured fun while Lars and James take a quick break is honestly depressing. Y'all need to lighten up.
Omg I had so much fun! And yes raised in Boston who could not love this song and love it even more because Metallica played it❤B- town .. City of champs!
Was down on the floor for this. My buddies and I went through the 5 stages of grief in the first several bars. Once we accepted it, we had a good time and had a blast.
As a big fan myself, I don’t think this is really bad, they were just having fun with the crowd. I was here and everyone was happy, people were even moshing haha!
Just when I thought Foxborough On the Run was a top-tier doodle, they pulled this out! Shame I couldn't make it to this show, but this is almost like the real thing lol. Thx for the upload! 🙏🙏🙏
I don't understand the hate in the comments. It's an icon of a song and these guys are musicians. Their influences came from somewhere before they were thrash. I love thrash, metal and everything hard but, music is music. There is centuries of music before Metallica so, why get so upset about an iconic song? You idiots would boo Bach, even though he influenced a lot of modern music. Get a clue!
Personally, I don't understand the hate in the comments. I understand the delivery was a bit botched (lmao) and I can absolutely understand if people go to Sox games a lot and grow tired of the song, but I personally thought it was funny and fitting (and extremely unexpected) to play it even if it wasn’t in Fenway. When I was really young (I'm 23 now), my family always went to Sea Dogs games in Portland once a year and the song would play. I've also only seen the Red Sox at Fenway once before so from my POV, the song has been ingraned in not only Boston, but New England culture and gave everyone something to "baam baam baaaaam" to 🤷♂️ It was also my first time seeing Metallica. Perhaps I'm just too young and naive to understand how insanly cool the Metallica experience was back 20 or 30 years ago. But I don't know, I had a good time at the show.
They went from covering Diamond Head to Neil Dimond 🤣Mass and New England has had some incredible metal bands, it's even responsible for an entire metal sub-genera, seeing them do a nod to that would have been much cooler. Metallica used to do that 30 years ago playing melodies from different metal bands. They could have been such great ambassadress to metal, but they would rather play gigs for industry weirdos at Elton Johns birthday party then play a benefit show for Sean Killion so he could get new liver. Kinda messed up seeing how they were both Bay Area thrash bands from the same scene. My criticism is that it was a missed opportunity to pay respect to some New England Metal bands instead of playing the song people like going BOMP BOMP BOMP to associate with Boston. Great to hear you had a good time.
Neil Diamond is a national treasure and this was just a little fun and respect since they’re in town. It’s a damn shame the song has been ruined by the extra “bah-bah-bahs” because that’s not how the song goes. Nice little Dirty Water snip at the end
The Sox play this for all the pink hats in the crowd to give them something to do after the beer stands shutdown. That is why I was disappointed in Metallica playing it. I would equate a Red Sox pink hat with a Metallica fan who just wants to hear Black album songs. There are way too many of those.
I’m fine with Sweet Caroline when they’re winning or it’s close. But if it’s the 8th inning, they’re down by 10, Bobby Dalbec is in the line up and Dom Smith is about to pitch - singing “Sweet Caroline” is the last thing I want to do. The people singing at that point are indeed pink hats.
You people hate this. I think this is funny and I am a Red Sox fan so this is apropos. Jason made three two crappy albums in Load and Reload which should have been one album. Robert FTW. He is why Metallica are back to greatness.
