Grew up with this one too! I think A bit younger though. I'm a 90's kid who happened to have this on VHS. Quality movie, they really don't make them like this anymore.
My gramma took me to see this movie when I was about 8 years old. We LOVED It...and the “ sexual innuendo” part when they were fishing....I had no idea about at 8 years old. NOW...I’m 65 years old! I understand it! LOL. I wonder what my grandma was thinking. Was she thinking OH GOD...? No...she probably knew I didn’t get it.
@@cmoore421 People disliked the fact he played a slovenly drunk which went against his normal suave, handsome characters. They just didn't like him in that type of performance. Maybe they had forgotten Grant played a much wider range of characters than just handsome womanizers.

@@davidcadman4468 True enough. But the female movie critics of the time hated Grant for his drinking and "immoral" characteristics. In the film, the character "Catherine Freneau" with time, fell in love with "Walter Eckland" because Catherine found out eventually, that although Walter is rough on the edges, Walter is a good decent human being, who would be an all time. great husband, of which up to then, Catherine had never found that in her life time and therefore Catherine fell in love with Walter.. Walter had passed Catherine's litmus test. Walter put his own life on the line several times, to save the lives of the girls, aa well as Catherine which started when Walter first met them. He managed to transport Catherine and all 7 of the girls to his Island. He had also showed himself to be a fatherly figure. He got Jenny to talk.
WTF? Why is this the same few seconds over and over and over, but with the original audio? Like when Cary tells off the pelican (but he doesn't anymore because, well, you know, Scifier, who seems to have something against (a) titles and (b) Cary Grant). Thanks for ruining a great opening sequence, which I am now wanting to. I've got the film, if I can't find one, I'll just make my own. Don't visit, you'll hate it. Cary will be in it (and words on screen, oh no!)
If made today, it would be called State Care Unit Goose. He would be the only white character. The kids would all be POC, and the two French girls would be trans.
Love this movie, love Cary Grant. Could watch this over and over again. ❤❤❤
I grew up watching this, and as an old geezer, I still love it, and just by the by, am still in love with with Leslie Caron

I love this movie, my dad and I sing along every time. Great childhood memories.
my favourite bit is when the two main character get married after hitting each other. Didn't completely age like wine did it?

They just don't make movies like this anymore.

In a World that demands conforming, I want to be Cary Grant, so Pass me by
FYI: 'Vrolijkheid' in this context is Dutch for 'Happiness'.

I didn't like it at first, because it went against the type of character he usually played, but it's one of my favorites now

HAPPY HALLOWEEN 2020
no one lustens to happy mucis. and it shows
I don’t think they really destroyed that beautiful launch in the movie, I wonder if it survives today.
Family guy brought me here
You don't thank the Lord you thank Frank Sinatra

What's a Heron or Pelican doing on the lifeboat?
Marielena Potts It’s not doing anything. Just sitting there. 😂
It's a cameo!
