First year rider here, the main reason I've thought about an action cam, is for dash cam purposes for all the idiots on the road. I still haven't done it yet, but I still might.
i got a gopro hero 12 for that reason. but the battery only really covers the first 2 hours maybe of riding. and as someone who does multiple hour long trips sometimes. but with ireland being full of what feels and looks like half blind drunks driving sometimes i like to have it. doesnt make insurance any cheaper lol
They have dash cams for bikes cheaper then a go pro front and rear cameras and a display (good for rear view mirror)since it's hard wired won't die like a gp and can set it up to record while parked if you want to see if anyone is messing with your bike I haven't added one to my bike yet but have them in all my other vehicles
Good point, that's a distinction he could have made. Note however that all his comments about cameras were in the context of people doing it to share on social media.
Not everyone with an action cam is using it to "create content for the internet," some of us use it like a dashcam, and to review our ride technique to see where we need improvement.
Old ass ancient squid here apparently - bought a helmet cam and recently added a mirror cam so I can catch forward movement and anything behind me, just in case. Trying to decide on a dash cam style set up. Plus my 83yo mom really enjoys seeing some of my videos since I still make her worry 😐
I guess I'd be a "early mid-life crisis squid" in this case! Considering I ride an MT-09SP with a loud exhaust, maybe some extra squid points for riding a hooligan missile 😂
I’m a newer rider and I got a camera immediately for my safety. I’m glad I did because I went down in August due to someone else not paying attention and it made it a lot easier to deal with insurance and lawyers.
In Facebook video shorts, the trend now is short young girls riding liter bikes (which they have difficulty balancing at a stoplight) in a dress. No gloves, no boots, no leathers; just a helmet, dress shoes & a dress. As someone who's been riding for 50+ years & survived 2 freeway tire blowout/slide accidents, it's terrifying to consider what'll happen to them if they dump it. I was taught "dress for the slide, not the ride" and if they crash, they'll have injuries/scars for the rest of their lives. All to get social media likes; ugh.
You forgot all that just for content that's just "omg, someone looked at me." Or more and more these days are girls making videos just to say their scared for one reason or another.
@@slimfit767 actually not ...a few months ago past away 1 of the girls without wearing gear in the most stupid and simple way , you can check that in youtube ...she was the most beatiful girl ..rip

Whew… none of these apply to me I just like popping wheelies everywhere, lane splitting at high speeds & red lining in 6th gear every chance I get! I’m not a squid 🙏🏾
I'm definitely addicted to searching marketplace for clapped out bikes. And definitely addicted to purchasing said clapped out bikes I love them and I can't stop
First point is the biggest one i disagree with as every rider should have one as soon as they can, primarily as it is your "dash cam" is the closest thing you can get to some level of protection in the event some idiot not paying attention runs into you.
I don't do any of what was mentioned in this video. Not even group rides. But what I am good at is minding my own business. Alot of people would benefit from that as well.
4.5 months into my first bike just hit 3800 miles. 2024 DRZ400sm. All the rules I set for myself went out the window because of the style of bike. I chose it because of the small displacement, lower price point and the fact that I won't sell it when I'm ready for more power and comfort. I ride solo, commute daily and go for longer rides on the weekend. Vans and a Tshirt most of the time. Going to get a chin mount camera not for content creation but to use as a dashcam.
At the end of the day Yammie, Rizoma mirrors >>> any stock mirrors. To say customizing your bike is squid behavior is wild. Customization is in everything we do as humans. It’s a form of personalizing and using your creativity to transform what’s mass produced and just a copy of a copy, to your own personal vision of that ‘thing’. From bicycles, to PCs, to cars, even your own living room. It’s your personal touch on the world. There’s only 3 types of people that keep their bike/car stock: people that don’t care about anything except the basic use of it; a die hard fan of the make/model and only ever buys oem; resellers.
Action cams are a great way to go back look at those moment when something unexpected happened and to try to figure out why. The best thing is to basically just forget you have it on.
First year rider, I only got my GoPro for dashcam reasons. I just want to make sure I have evidence if something ever happened. Not putting down your point though, definitely valid.
I have to zonk you for elements of the excessive spending section, simply put, people accessorize their bikes and vehicles in general as expressions of themselves among other things to their liking, and they should be totally free to do so without criticism or shame because you may not feel the same way - Make Murica Great Again.
Yeah but independent tests have shown that a $75 dollar K&N air filter can gain up to 3hp in some instances. Thats totally worth it bro! What about the dual compound racing tires that slide all over every tar strip you hit on the road? Those have to be worth the shortest lifespan possible and an extra $2 hundo. Infinitely adjustable suspension and quick shifters are a must. $800 dollar helmets with custom graphics. The list goes on forever. Isn't squid life great! Peace!
Action camera = great dash cam. The content is just a bonus. Geared up 97 percent of my decade riding. Bare minimum is jacket and helmet. Crashed once and glad I did. Was hopping right off the bat. Had road rash on hands and legs. Helmet, jacket, and backpack took 98 percent of the damage. Bike was totaled. 😢
My first bike was totaled due to a driver in front braking suddenly then turning without a turn signal, cutting off my exit strategy. I was blamed for the accident because I was the vehicle behind and couldn't prove negligence. I now ride with a Sena 10c pro with the camera on at all times for my own safety
1:41 what happened here? I saw this clip on DDFM’s stream also. It seems like he was going down before he even touched the brakes. I know he was still on throttle by the time he was needing to turn and then he just goes down. Slam the rear brake maybe? I wouldn’t see that from the POV footage I suppose
Wore my tennis shoes a lot on my 01 R6. Then I bought a 25 ZX6R and the way the soles flared out on my shoes they'd get snagged on the rearsets. Only wear my bike shoes now
Honestly if it’s that hot I either don’t ride or I ride without a jacket. 20 years of riding but I don’t pretend that I can’t go down at some point or get squished by a car. I just don’t want to die from heat stroke doing something I love.
12:36 the reason Yammie doesn't modify his bikes, too many. I've notice guys with a lot of bikes keep them stock, that's a lot of aftermarket seats to buy. I rode 14,000 miles on the same bike this year, definitely got some mods going.
On the action camera thing I kinda wanted to get one when I started to give a true representation of what learning to ride is like. Never got one and I’m ~ 6 months in so I guess I missed that haha.
I'm not worried about getting my money back. I want to make it my own. It's cool to make it what I want. Just like my 1978 KZ750 that my Dad built and turned into a hardtail bobber. It's something unlike amybody else has. A 1 of 1.
I plan on having an action cam once I get a bike because I live in one of the 10 cities with the worst drivers in the US, my ass is not going out without what equates to a dash cam for insurance reasons
A dashcam is a good investment, especially with so much idiots and frustrated guys with small D’s that cannot stand if you overtake or do lane splitting.

It ain't an action camera without action. Your squid-hoon down to Chipotle at 7pm on a Tuesday for 2 minutes of pulls to 102 MPH aren't going to cut it "Trey."
Man I wanna send this video to my riding buddies because I find at least the Philippine equivalent of at least 3 or 4 items in this video in my riding buddies. Action cameras? Setting aside the fact that many of them also use action cameras as dash cams, a majority of facebook motorcycle content where Filipino riders conglomerate in is about reckless and illegal riding on a 125cc scooter to a Multistrada 1260. Riding without gear? It'd be a miracle to find someone here who uses ACTUAL gear beyond a rudimentary and substandard helmet, though as a developing country, you can make the case that an overwhelming majority of motorcycle riders cannot afford good gear. Emotionally dependent on group rides? very rare is it to find someone who rides solo, and yes, there is the one-uppery that almost always happens in group rides. Clapped out sportbikes? Here, they are called "Kargado" (loaded), and they refer to scooters, most popularly the Yamaha Nmax and Aerox 155, that have aftermarket CVTs, full systems, 180cc-250cc bore kits and ECU flashes among other things. Yes, they blow their engines or transmissions very frequently and destroy the fuel economy to the point that they only get 60 miles to a full 1.5 gallon tank, and it's almost a rite of passage for anyone who rides a scooter and wants to get into the riding community because they don't want to be left behind by the clapped-out scooters they ride with in a group. Looks like this goes for spending on excessive power too. No title isn't a thing here though, but no insurance is. I have very VERY rarely heard of conversations about motorcycle insurance here, and the ones who do get them usually own bigger bikes. Riding twisties like a track day is pretty much the norm here, and because many of these squids also neglect to do their research on tires, suspension, and handling characteristics, many of them lowside their bikes often into onlookers, which are other riders on the side of the road spectating their squiddery. See videos of places like Marilaque and Cebu Red Cliff. Local law enforcement has been cracking down on gatherings like this because they ALWAYS promote irresponsible riding. In addition to that, motorcycle photography here is popular. I gotta disagree with the action cam. I had one already, but I bought my chin mount which came in yesterday mainly for safety reasons, "dashcams" help a lot with insurance.
Throwing your bike in the back of your pickup truck and heading to the canyons was a miss. It’s so nice to be comfortable on the drive and fresh when you get there. It also makes running sticky tires like Supercorsa SC 3s an option with decent longevity. Track days are king, but let’s be real…they’re expensive. Nothing wrong with using the canyons to go out for a rip at 80% pace.
Lmfao gixxerbrahs orange zx6r he had tuned that obnoxiouslly popped every time he revved it after having it tuned and he thought it sounded so cool. Then wondered why the engine blew up 2 weeks later 😂😂😂
@yammienoob advice number 1 is incorrect. Not everyone who wears an action camera is doing it for social media content. There are a large number of people who have cameras for insurance purposes in case of accident. Furthermore action cameras can be used as a tool to improve your riding skills when you make a mistake while riding. I’ve went back in footage to find why I cornered so crappy or what I should have noticed when a car magically appeared out of no where. If cameras are being used in the capacity you’re speaking of, you are absolutely right, but don’t sleep on cameras for insurance purposes as well as a learning tool.
Not all motorcyclists use action camera for vlogging or fame. I use it as a dash cam. There are many idiots on roads and drivers have a habit of blaming all on the motorcyclists. You never know when you will need to prove your innocence...
The only reason I have a camera is to keep track of my riding journey not content also just in case of an accident god forbid. Only once in a while I will ride in a group maximum of 10 riders any more than that I won't ride with them and I always ride my own ride my current bike is a 2024 Z900.
Dude you realize how much I've learned about my riding and errors I've been able to correct because of wearing that action camera? Basically every time you go "oh that didn't feel right/good" and you have a general idea why. Well, in review later, I'll be able to tell exactly why. The rest, yeah I agree and avoid it. The last one I am guilty of tho, I do ride twisties like its a track day. But with my whole one norwegian seasons worth of experience (6 months) on the back of a gentle duke390 it still looks like a boring sunday ride to you murican' highway ripping gixxerbros.

So how people gonna see when i crash or when i get exited with my first smooth revmatch 😂
action cam is good if you are using it for dash cam purposes. Content creation is a whole other thing though
I wear a GoPro but have never uploaded a single video of anything ever.
Love it: squids are just gonna squid
The action cam acts as a dashcam, extremely important to have.
Yep, I don't have one but if I did it would be for insurance purposes, not to capture me putting a knee down.
Hear me out ... Im 44 i like to pull the front tire up every once and a while.
Why wouldnt you put a full system on your street bike?
Thank you. I'm a squid. Oh well. Thank you xD😂
The only reason I have a camera is to keep track of my riding journey not content also just in case of an accident god forbid.
Only once in a while I will ride in a group maximum of 10 riders any more than that I won't ride with them and I always ride my own ride my current bike is a 2024 Z900.
last month I had an accident and I didn't have a camera, mistake number 1 :D it annoys me that I can't look back at the record :D
The action camera thing isn't really right, I use mine so that when "someone doesn't see me" I am covered.
Reily’s Power Sport sticker spotted Rahhhhhhh
lol that white sport bike with the corona decals is for sale in my city on fb marketplace lmfao
#8 - You watch Yammie Noob
#9 - You judge other riders based on shit you see Yammie Noob say.
They could be using the cameras as dashcams. Just sayin
Most people are not content creators and so a camera doesn’t influence them in any way
Use my go pro basically just as a dash cam
Yes that's a distinction he could have made. But he was talking about people who do it for social media.
Best outro ever😂
