This is one of the best cutscenes to come from any Destiny season, the fact that Caital just slams that psion into the ground and demands that she get her hands on the one who shot his ghost only leaves it up to the imagine nation as to what she’s going to do to that psion

If you went to the helm after this cutscene there was a terminal message waiting from Caiatl that doesn't leave it up to the imagination.
She basically calls you up mid interrogation/torture of one of the psions to let you know she's gonna kill everyone involved in the attempted assassination, and then executes him.

This scene makes me appreciate Zavala, the fact he can look Crow in the face and decide to still pull him up without even a question shows his faith in the traveler. It could also be the fact that Crow saved his life as well

And that the crow would've sacrificed his life for zavala
Crow is not Uldren. They may have the same face, but they are two very distinct people.
Zavala has always pretty strongly held the belief that who you were prior to being brought back as a guardian doesn't matter - to the point of openly chastising guardians like Ana who actively attempt to dig up information about their past life. That conviction was tested here, but after a brief pause he held to it.

He only got his ghost out to heal, so he didn’t really leave it out
Maybe it was as a sign of trust, or respect to the truce be it momentary between them and the cabal

Uldren killing cayde was all cold colors, being dark blues and purples
But Zavala helping Crow is bright warm colors like the orange and yellows
It would’ve been a stronger impact if it was ikora who did it 😩

Watching Caiatl absolutely slam that psion into ground was badass. Never really thought about just how strong the Cabal could be
Caiatl didn't just flex her muscles, she grabbed that Psion's entire torso with one hand and then used both hands to fling it's body like a big sack of potatos into the ground. Everything in the Psion must have been turned to jelly! Guardians are used to brutality, so it's shocking when someone other than a Lightbearer uses the same level of brutality as us.
Just imagine her pulling a Bane to break the Psion's back would make the scene that much more awesome

For context about the physical strength of the Cabal - Zavala, leader of the Titans, STRUGGLED to disarm a basic legionary. Granted, this was during the time when 99% of the guardians didn't have access to their abilities outside of the physical enhancements brought on by the light...let this sink in: the fact that a militarily and physically superior species wants an alliance is due almost exclusively to the fact that their methods are ineffective against another force, while our methods and abilities are a hard counter to that force.
@@dirtyblonde1011 Basically the only reason the Cabal want an alliance with us is because their military might can't counter the Darkness' and Hive's physics-breaking abilities and because standard warfare is ineffective against combatants that are biologically incapable of living outside of a war zone.
The Guardians, however, are a hard counter to the Hive: each one of us is desensitized to death, we have abilities that are toe-to-toe with the Darkness/Hive and we've basically been training to fight overwhelming odds exclusively.

If I had to hazard a guess, the sniper rifle was designed to fire projectiles that entrap ghosts, so I bet it couldn’t do much more damage outside of trapping
@@Tottleminerftw In-lore you need a really high-powered or darkness infused weapon to destroy a Ghost in a single shot, from what I understand.
Cayde's killer, the Rifleman, is a member of the Scorn, an Eliksni sub-race corrupted with Darkness infused Ether, and their weaponry presumably has undergone a somewhat similar process. Additionally, Pirrha prided himself on having killed Ghosts and thus likely modified his weapon further to be more adept at doing so. Ergo, The Rifleman was able to kill Cayde's Ghost in a single shot.
An extremist splinter group of Cabal/Psions with very limited access to the Darkness would likely be unable to develop a weapon capable of killing a Ghost in a single shot, and there would be no time to take a second shot. Thus, they utilized the tech to entrap and paralyze Zavala's Ghost and temporarily cut him off from the Light, making him vulnerable to another assailant.

I like the setup of this, a ghost gets sniped, and rather than Uldren being responsible for a vanguards death, Crow saved Zavala

I love how he takes a moment about half a second to let go of his feelings against Uldren because the man before him is not bound by his past any longer.

Your guardian can also very easily get ass blasted by a scion. We also have like an ungodly amount of light. Plus Zavala been sitting in the tower since destiny 1 man's is probably only like PL 200

I like Empress Caiatl, i like her a lot more than i ever liked Emperor Calus, he enjoyed too much Luxury, he wasn’t a cruel ruler I think, but he maybe could’ve done some things better, although i do think the coup was wrong, he got rid of the aristocracy, freed the Legions and gave them citizenship, planned on freeing all Psions, but i like Empress Caiatl better, her intentions were clear, and now that Emperor Calus is missing, I’m betting along with the betrayal of a number of Cabal defectors, including a number of Psions, most likely fighting in the name of Amtec, last of the Psion Flayer sisters, architect of the attempt to use the Almighty to destroy the Last City, and Freeborn Otzot, highest ranking Psion Flayer, and corrupt leader of her people, one of the few free Psions, she betrayed Calus to keep herself unique and better, now that Empress Caiatl has freed her people, she must be in command of the Psion traitors

From my understanding, Zavala already knew Crow was Uldren, because Zavala is the one making crow stay hidden in the Helm and away from the general public and he is also the one who makes crow wear his mask. Zavala didnt trust Crow, and the moment where Crow was willing to sacrifice himself for Zavala was the moment Zavala trusted Crow.

Zavala understands that while it may be the same body, this is not Uldren Sov. The Traveller erases your past life so that, regardless of who you were, you can choose who you become.
Still find it weird that the Hive became "guardians" before the Fallen and Cabal.

Imagine the psion that got slammed wasnt involved with the sniper and just read the situation like "I guess we attacking, okay then"
Scariest part? You can literally *see* the light leave the psion's eye.
We need more of THIS zavala. We have eris for the hive, crow and Saint 14 with the fallen, ikora helps with the hive but also vex ans well everything, zavala and Saladin with their codes of honor DESERVE more to do with the cabal side of the story

Angy psion's were angy. It honestly just feels like some of the Psions have this hate boner for guardians that isn't really fleshed out other than vague stuff in Vox obscura(the exotic special gl quest we just got with witch queen)

To be fair the entire point of the red war was the cabal using a massive device to suppress the traveler, but it does nothing more than suppress. Not surprised at all to see cabal using what I’m assuming is the same technology simply shrunk down to be utilized against individual ghosts.
@@katzzen8814 i mean, that scorn in the cayde's death cutscene had a huge arbalest of some kind and destroyed the ghost after aiming for some while, im sure there are a lot of things that could do it even faster and better. And cabal didn't even mean to destroy the traveler because Ghaul wanted to steal the light.
So I was suspicious of Caiatl up until around this point. She's been trying to have this alliance, and at some point, I came to the conclusion that she would not throw away what she worked so hard to get, especially if it's what she needs. So when she said she did not order the assassination attempt, I believed her 100%.
I also love how Zavala helps Crow up. In some dialogue after you kill Uldren, Zavala tells you that in another life, he would have kill him himself, but currently has to stay true to what he believes in as far as being a guardian goes. And I love that he sticks to that, acknowledges that Crow is not Uldren, and Crow just saved his life.
Reach out with one hand to help em up wait till he grabs your hand and come around with a haymaker to the face with the other hand 😂

@@serapheternal921 he's capping, if you have been watching the story through the season, the Psions got the technology from the Vex and have tried it out on several guardians succeeding, they tried one attempt on Zavala in the city, and they are out for blood because we killed the Three Scion Sisters a few seasons back, supposedly we'll see a Cabal Splinter group. shame honestly I was expecting the fallen to unite with the Vanguard, not the Cabal, I don't see any relationship with em, but hey Bungie's the one telling the story.

Here’s the thing about erasing someone’s mind/memories. If you erase ALL of that person’s memories, that basically KILLS the person. The body remains but the mind is now fresh, brand new.
Uldren Sol is dead and in his place, Crow is born.
The title is a lot but it’s exactly what it is

I don’t think that it was necessarily Zavala’s faith in The Traveler specifically that prompted him to offer a hand to Crow. To my knowledge, which is limited and likely incorrect, it’s common knowledge that once resurrected as a Guardian; the individual forgets everything about their past life. So - in a sense - the word ‘resurrection’ is sort of a misnomer. As the person they were is still effectively dead. - SPOILERS! - ( Well… Even bigger spoilers? I tried. Lol. ) Unless you game the system like Savathun did to get her memories back, you won’t remember anything. Even then, it could still be argued that who she was is still dead and that - prior to defeat and her Ghost bailing - the ‘Savathun’ she is now is quite possibly a different person entirely looking at her own memories as if they had belonged to a different person entirely. Thus, during the ever so slight period of hesitation from Zavala, it likely followed a process like: - Realizes it’s Uldren. - Loads of emotions and thoughts race across his mind. - Remembers that this is a Guardian. - Codifies his following action with a final thought that possibly followed a logic along the lines of “Uldren is dead. This is a Guardian named Crow.” - Offers a helping hand to Crow, the Guardian that just saved his life.

The only thing about this scene that confuses me is why didn't the sniper just....use a normal bullet and pop his ghost sundance style 🤔 I mean like thank god he didn't but still it makes no sense as an assassination attempt because even if the attempt failed they CRIPPLE zavala permanently so either way they win

Cayde's "requirement" was that his successor kill him.
Now that I think about it the psions who tried this are incredibly stupid, no way would the one have enough time to both kill zavala AND destroy the ghost with a guardian, caital and two centurions ready to deal with threats like that. Even if crow wasn't there the guy would've gotten molly wopped and zavalas ghost would've been free to res him afterwards.
