    I could not lose weight until I started listening to the Podcast Maintenance Phase, because it put the fight in me against fat shaming and the weight loss industry. Only then, when I had some space and compassion for myself, could I make a start. Shame does not help. It hurts.

    The limiting beliefs thing is so true. I’ve been reprogramming my mind and those beliefs about myself and let me tell you how much it’s improved my mental health. Of course it’s so easy for me to lose body fat and be healthy!💕 and it’s all manifesting easily for me :)

    I prayed a lot for my pcos. And found that eating more protein was enough (for me, in particular) to get my period back on a regular cycle. Literally just trying to build muscle is why I started eating more protein ❤❤❤

      Yes! Protein is so key for hormone balance! and eating enough of it can be so powerful for women with PCOS that is the insulin resistant type.

      Up your hydration! It will help you feel better physically and it’s also a step in the right direction, so you’ll still be making progress. Also, focusing on micronutrients from fruits and vegetables would be a good step you can take for now. No need to stress your body out more with tons of exercise or extreme changes, but you can still take smaller steps.

    I've lost a lot of weight in the last year. 246 lbs down to 180. That's ideal for a 6ft 2 inch fella. 😅 I think I'll make a video about the whole process and how I intend to keep it off. I wrote my new exercise program last night and refined it today. I say new program buuuut I've never followed a program yet persay. Wish me luck sticking with that. Basically, all I did last year was walk a lot and go to the gym every day. I didn't do enough to tax my system. I basically approached it as practicing exercise until I knew enough to write myself a program. If I have listened to you effectively, I'd assume that if I worked out a lot, I'd actually gain weight, stay the same, or only lose a marginal amount of weight. So I took that information to heart and look at me now :). Great videos, great info, great Marisadum!

    Hi Marissa! I've been following you for a while but I had a question about the frequency of diet breaks. I looked up the matador study and a few others and it seems like a lot of people recommend a 2 week break after 8-12 weeks of eating in a deficit. What are the reasons the most aggressive version of the mini cut cycles you recommend is 3 weeks on 1 week off? What would happen if you did 8 weeks in a deficit 2 weeks maintenence 8 weeks deficit?

    • @MissFitAndNerdy
      @MissFitAndNerdy  10 місяців тому +1

      So I actually go in depth into this in my course, Fat Loss 101! I recommend anywhere from 2 weeks to 12 weeks in a deficit, depending on a lot of factors. The video I posted on UA-cam was a very general recommendation (and thus a safe, conservative recommendation).

    Hi🌸 I’ve been doing a 15% deficit for 3 days and I feel very hungry and tired, is it ok to do 5-10% to start with?
    Thank you

    • @MissFitAndNerdy
      @MissFitAndNerdy  10 місяців тому

      The short answer is that a 5% deficit is probably too small to see a chance and will just cause your metabolism to slow down. The long answer is in my course, Fat Loss 101 haha. If has a TON of tips for feeling more full in a calorie deficit. And teaches you how to appropriately calculate the best calorie deficit size for your body.

  • @finagill
    @finagill 10 місяців тому +1

    Sorry, you are wrong. There is not a law of thermodynamics that deals with the body and weight loss. There is also no such thing as a calorie deficit. Calories are thermal energy. They are created by burning a substance. Calories are used as an easy, but poor, approximation of how much energy you extract from food. Macros matter because your body handles each macro differently. We eat macros, not calories. I wish people would either learn about thermodynamics are stop parroting misinformed views.

    • @MissFitAndNerdy
      @MissFitAndNerdy  10 місяців тому +2

      You’re right - it’s a VERY nuanced discussion! I absolutely agree that a calorie is not a calorie and that the calories that a food contains outside of the body is NOT the same number of calories we absorb from the food. I actually have an entire video on this here: ua-cam.com/video/lWwnXEJkiNs/v-deo.htmlsi=NWa6iWqnYA4xfTa_. That said, the first law of thermodynamics is a law for a reason. Weight loss absolutely comes down to calories absorb versus calories burned. but again, you’re right in that it is a lot more complex than that makes it seem. our health, hormone balance, insulin resistance, etc. can all play a part in how many calories are absorbed and burned.

    • @finagill
      @finagill 10 місяців тому +1

      @@MissFitAndNerdy The first law of thermodynamics has nothing to do with the human body. It explicitly applies only to closed systems. The human body is far from a closed system. Once again, calories are thermal energy. We don't use calories or absorb them. A joule would be an appropriate unit of energy. As a thermal engineer, I just hate it when people misapply the laws of thermodynamics or misconstrue the definitions of works used for thermodynamics.
