I love that even people 12,000 miles away understand what Oliver is singing about. 😊 Its the same hurt, same pain thats felt all over the world. 😢
💗💗💗😊
its also sad that their words and thoughts apply the same to us here. its the same fight in every corner of the world, but were led to think our struggle is unique, were all in the same battle unknowingly.
@@Zultzify if everyone knew, they wouldnt put up with it 😡

Seems to me we are more alike than we are different, but we focus on the latter.
What they may not understand, is the rich men who live north of Richmond Virginia is Washington dc. The U.S. 🇺🇲 capital. Where are politicians debate over what to spend U. S 🇺🇸 s taxes on and policies. Most who don't pay there own taxes and get rich off of policy they put in place to only benefit themselves.
correct - all the greedy law makers who only think about their own personal gain are located North of Richmond, exactly 109 miles on the I-95 South highway....thats how close those blood suckers live to parts of the poorest areas in the USA
Trust me, they know what it means to be screwed by crooked politicians, that’s a universal theme
Yes! Maybe he will read these comments and understand that the "rich men North of Richmond" are our politicians in Washington D.C. and that's to whom this song is written!!
I’m pretty sure they got it even without that context.
They did understand it because they referenced their own version of that.
Seeing my man Abdul hit the nail on the head. "They want poor people to be their slaves" Exactly.
Half a world away, a different language, a different culture but they get it, they understand. We are in many ways so similar.
"This is how revolution sounds."
Indeed.
For a week, then the sheeple are distracted by the next thing...
Also true
Hopefully not cause the thing that follows a revolution is almost always worse.
We’ve wrecked our attention spans with the internet
Hope not as things never improve after one of those, they just get worse.
"I don't understand how a country that gives away money to other countries can't help their own people first?"
Me neither mate, me neither.
Liberal. Conservative. Moderate. The rich are our enemies. Not each other.
I agree with you.
The irony of his song is that the social safety nets the USA currently has "Welfare" is constantly being underfunded and defended by mostly right leaning politicians, as are regulations imposed on wall street and other monopolistic oligarchs. Regulations that have been in place for decades that are meant to curb monopolies, consumer protections and ability to sue, labor rights involving safety and wages are being threatened by citizen united, super pacs, and political charitable organizations (501c) that do not have to disclose donations that are redirected to corporate lobbyists for deregulation that further threaten individual freedom at the cost of shareholders monetary interests.
The irony of speaking of ill-willed, evil, greedy politicians, who no doubt had political funding from corporate super pacs, and contrasting that with Welfare, a vital and important institution that mitigates the side effects of capitalistic oligarchy- Unemployment.
Capitalism only thrives at a certain percentage of Unemployment. A little too much is a recession, too little is inflation.
If all the laborers have jobs, companies compete for them. Not enough jobs? Wages decrease.
It's a persnickity little machine.
So, you want the government to help mitigate the side effects? Don't vote for the extreme right. Ever.
4 years of democrats running the show...100 billion to Ukraine,,every number is wrong..@@CosmicKungFu
This man lives in a nearby community to mine. He's got a great reputation and actually refused to play a concert where tickets were way too expensive.

Greetings from America! 🇺🇸 I’m very happy you are bringing this to their attention. We the people are not similar to our politicians, not even close! We want peace! I wish the tribesmen all the best. God Bless!
"This song is intended to wake people up!" Amen brother.
#oliveranthony needs to see this!
My daughter has a Sesame Street book we read before bedtime every so often. "We are different, We are the Same". I've never felt so connected to people 8000 miles away. And it makes this song even more powerful. Genuine people truly just all want the same thing, no matter where you are in this world. I always enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work!

They are SPOT on in everything they interpreted from this video. Love these men!
I enjoyed this. It's proof that we are brothers regardless of our skins .
We all are indeed
Your videos always make me cry. Cry for humanity. Thank you for bringing such meaningful work to the world.❤
This man is as real and down to earth as they come, a God fearing simple country boy with an old soul. Love his lyrics and his guitar style
“I don’t understand how a country that gives away money to other countries can’t help their own people first.” I believe it’s because a good portion of that money ends up in the pockets of our corrupt Congressmen.
"Son of a Lion" amazing
This is what country used to sound like and it still should.
I love watching the uncles share their thoughts. They don't understand the words but the meaning is carried to them anyway. And the way he compares this Christian man to The Prophet more than once shows how little differences we really have.
i love these guys, they can always tell what's going on in the songs even in another language ❤
I absolutely Love these venerable Eastern gentlemen; always, in everything I’ve seen. I love them all the more in this reaction. They are so earnest and intuitive in their reactions and it’s so wonderfully irrespective of culture or language or anything! I love that they immediately understood that the singer is a simple (but passionate and reasonably talented young man), who wanted first and foremost to sing out his displeasure/disillusionment with those in power. I love more than anything the fact that people can ‘feel’ other people, regardless of language, culture, etc; simply by accessing their authentic humanity and for this I praise these fine men! ❤
For context: Washington DC is north of Richmond, Virginia
Greetings from Tennessee! (South of Richmond.) Abdul is an absolute treasure.
I'm a 57 Year old white American man, born poor in the South and a hard working man barely able to scrape by to raise my family slaving away in the Texas oilfields, so the message Oliver Anthony's music relays has truly been a blessing for me personally.
I just wanted to say the knowledge, wisdom, and insight of these men in your video transcend any social, religious, or nationality barriers we may have, and I do not regret stumbling into this channel.
Thank you all, dear men of wisdom! We are more alike than we will ever be different, and the evildoers controlling the helm of this worldly ship are fearful of us realizing this and coming together to stand against them! Peace and God's blessings to you all, gentlemen, stay well.
"I wonder why a rich country like the USA can send money to other countries but not take care of its people first". We here in the USA are wondering that, too. The man singing is from a place in Eastern USA called the Appalachian Mountains. People there tend to be very family oriented and very independent. It's beautiful country, but the people there tend mostly to be poor. There used to be a lot of coal mines there and that had provided some jobs for people, but those have mostly closed. It's very sad. I loved their immediate understanding of the song. These men are so insightful and wonderful to listen to.
I love these videos. It reminds me that people are people. People can hear the truth when it is from the heart. Also, we have way more in common with each other than we think.
I love these videos. I want to watch some of their music and react. They all seem like such kind people.
You are very beautiful and wise folk. Your insights are inspiring. I wish you prosperity and peace. Thank you and Bless you Sirs. Go so well
Mashoque came close to something around the 13:30 mark, saying that there should be more simple and pure and honest people like Oliver Anthony in the world. I would gently disagree: it's not that there aren't hundreds of millions of those people in the world. It's that they aren't the people you see in the media. Oliver Anthony caught lightning in a bottle and was able to instantaneously transmit this message through his art to millions of those people, and they listened and told each other about it precisely because he is one of those people himself. He was completely unheard of until one fateful day last summer, and this video of this song made him an instant sensation, while bypassing the mainstream media entirely - which baffled and frightened the mainstream media.
The exact type of people Mashoque describes, in towns of every size across America, instantly resonated with this song. And its message and the expression of it are so clear, so genuine, so starkly true, so wracked with a pain too familiar to too many, even tribesmen half a world away instantly understand, even before the lyrics are translated for them. I've seen the same response in dozens of reaction videos to this song, from everyone from black Americans to white Irishmen to Poles to Russians to Sindhi tribesmen. Nearly everyone who hears this song instantly understands exactly what it's saying, who it's for, and who it's aimed at. You may not have a Richmond where you live, but no matter where you live, the rich men in the capital city are picking your pockets, sometimes at gunpoint.
Meanwhile, here in America where that song came from, a book came out recently entitled "White Rural Rage" that says the gravest danger of the United States faces right now is from white country people who are upset about all the things this song is about. The same media who tore this song apart as racist or xenophobic or fascist or whatever? They swooned over this book. That's because they are ABSOLUTELY *NOT* the people Mashoque was talking about.
Here hear you
Cheers from Chile 🇨🇱🇺🇲
@@goa9034 And a Happy Mother's Day to you from the beautiful sugar-white sands of the Florida Panhandle, my friend!
See? If even the Chileans get it, why don't the bimbos in the American mainstream media get it? Because it's not in their selfish best interest to act like they understand what he's saying. Stoking class and race fights makes them more MONEY.
Should have told them about him canceling shows when he found out how much some venues were charging for money
One of the ways to test the importance of a piece of music is does it transcend culture and language. Seem this one has.
I live in Richmond. Washington DC is about 2 hours north, hence the title of the song
Love your thinking and ideas gentleman all ways good to hear your views
Loved the song, however one part I didn't agree with. While there are individuals who milk the welfare system there are more who don't. Individuals who slave away and desperately need it to feed their families. I'm on social security disability. Hate it, wish I could work instead of multiple doctor and ER visits. Can't understand how the able bodied choose not to. And they are the ones misusing the system. Crazy thing is I've lived many many years on a fixed income and never applied for food stamps until last week and it broke my heart. But unexpected bills have hit me hard as well as inflation. So I have now found myself in this position. I have friends and family who are able to work and work hard, but it seems like things are set up to keep people poor.
My husband works in DSS. He says the vast majority of people who walk through those doors he never sees again, or maybe sees once a few years later. The social safety net works. There are very few people who abuse the system. The unfortunate part of it is that once you fall hard it's really difficult to get back up; the bills pile up, the body falls apart, illnesses compound, can't keep up with repairs, and the hole just gets deeper. It's too easy to fall into the poverty pit and too hard to get out. People don't realize they are one bad fall, one car accident, one bad illness away from financial devastation.
Don't you ever feel guilty for needing to eat. OK? You are a valuable person unto yourself.
@@auroraasleep thank you so much. I really appreciate it.
Agreed. I think that part of the song kind of took away from the overall message. The quality of food that folks can access on benefits or low budgets is worse and leads to obesity. You have to make things stretch, so that leads you to purchase a lot of starches and preservative-laden foods that can be mixed in with other things. He was kind of blaming the poor (and the poor obese) in a way that detracts from the wrongs of the "rich men north of Richmond." He's doing exactly what the rich men north of Richmond want him to do - punching down instead of up. It hurts the overall thematic integrity of the song.
It's too easy to blame overweight folks without asking how they got that way. I've seen many folks end up on the streets and many folks hover on the edge. They often go through periods of feast and famine as their access to food changes. I've been hungry, myself. I didn't want to ask for help and I saved every penny to go toward my education. I was living on free soup and coffee at work until, one day, I passed out in front of a VP. The paramedic who picked me up said I was the lightest person he'd lifted that day. I probably weighed 85 lbs. as a fully grown, 21-year-old woman. That's something that sticks with you. If you've ever been hungry, truly hungry, it's very hard to say no to food, later, when you have the money. It's like you are trying to pack on pounds to save for the lean times later. Now, I'm obese. I hate the hate I get from people like this man - but I very much like not passing out at work. I had to stop hating myself for it and just learn to accept myself as I am. I wish someday I could listen to a song about working class solidarity and be able to fully engage with it without feeling shamed for my body.
I am in the same boat. Just home from 20th surgery, Severe Crohn’s. But how does one stretch $23 Snap when that is they get on SSDI because they are disabled and not able bodied. Lactose free milk, eggs, (gf) bread and one more item on a gluten free low residue diet is over $30 in CO. Reality is harsh.
@@JanelleOFS I'm so sorry to hear that. I have Crohn's but mine is very well controlled, so no surgeries. They say as soon as you have one it becomes a never ending cycle. However I have developed chronic pancreatitis that seems to be autoimmune related. I'm on a super restrictive diet because of it. Now I also have a dysmotility bowel issue that maybe autoimmune related as well. That has put me in the ER a lot and done some messed up stuff to me. And have multiple food allergies. I have several other conditions as well. So yeah groceries are expensive when you can't eat just anything. All the stuff for a specialized diet is expensive. My mom has celiac disease. She can get some of the gluten free foods cheaper on Swansons Vitamins website. But you have to know how to navigate the sight. Go to groceries in menu and then as you scroll down I believe you can click on more options for categories and select gluten free or whatever your looking for specifically. Still expensive but cheaper than some places. I can find fat free and low fat food items, but I would rarely buy them as they aren't necessary items. Well now I don't get them at all because of budget. But like I said I'm on an extremely low fat diet, 18 grams of fat a day, or else I end up in the hospital.
I hope you can get some relief from the Crohn's. You should see if there are any studies for new treatments. Often if you qualify for a study they pay for room, board and travel. Plus no medical cost. As severe as yours is you should reach out to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation to see if there are currently any studies you might qualify for.
Perfect sound for those lyrics. Straight Forward.

Amen! More than half of Americans are in poverty or on the brink of poverty. We have 700,000 homeless people. Only a few Americans are very wealthy, and they poison us and impoverish us to create their extreme wealth! America’s streets are not paved in gold. Thank you for this wonderful video!
This song resonates with the average working American.
I respect how intuitive your guests are, that they can feel the intent behind the lyrics.
The average working everyone.

I am so glad that some messages bypass language and cultural differences. Videos like this really show we are not that different after all when it comes to regular, everyday people. Glad to see it.
Great reactions from you guys.

Discussing and thinking about these things is universal. Thank you.
I just love the guy in the blue shirt with the green hate,he speaks truth weather it's about the song or just the reality of what's really happening.wish he spoke better English,I could watch his pod cast all day.he has a certain view that's makes you interested in what he has to say.❤thank you for sharing
I would love to see reacts to 'rage against the machine' with an explanation of the message from the song
Greetings from Germany. This song from Oliver Anthony ist wonderful!
He sure hit the nail on the head with some very wise words. Why can my country give so much money away to other countries yet not take care of its own people? This ties his comment directly into the meaning of this song. We all know why our country does not take care of our people. Straight up government corruption. I would like to see that all go away so that the world could be at peace for the most part.
This ties in directly with Rich Men north of richmond. See, the rich men that he is speaking of are the rich men in Washington dc. Washington DC is just north of Richmond, virginia.
Every country has a Richmond.
Richmond, Virginia is merely a reference point. The song is about rich men in Washington DC, as in the government and those who make their fortunes off the government. "North of Richmond" was apparently a very old derisive term Virginians use for the capital city.
Good job explaining
Muharam hits me so hard every video. This man gets it!
I LOVE Muharam's reactions as he's singing. He knows what's up!
A similar song worth exploring: Bob Marley's "Slogans". Salams from America, and I will keep you in my dua!
Love these guys! another one "out of the park" Thank you Adnan
Muharam is the best 😂 "he should have had a Baboo" Like of course we know who Baboo is. Maybe he does make it big and you can react to his music here.
I have spent much time in the Middle East and South Asia and have worked with Pakistani men. Sadly, they have one of the worst (most corrupt) governments in the world. Thankfully, these gentleman are not as conspiracy minded as many disillusioned people that are from Pakistan. They live in a tough place. I send my greetings and hope for a better future for you all !!
This was excellent. An incredible, absolutely on point discussion. Love these men and love this channel.
All everywhere are different - and we all should hear the other - we really don't have the chance it seems.
Sometimes not from the best people either - we all should give our best to move forward.
I don't care to convince you what to believe - - -
Peace on all of us - it's so hard with those that want control - stop it
The men each express so much cynical views about the state of the world. I’m biased by my faith but I believe that kindness and care for others is much more common and normal, even along the Rich and Powerful, than we appreciate.

its the momins that run the world. sad that all of their words ring to my own thoughts on the problems here in canada, its sad that we all get used, my family is labourers and a lot of them work back breaking work to not even be able to retire in comfort.

He is mostly correct in what he is talking about, but what he does not understand is that people have the best life in a country with good governance and high taxes. If you doubt me, go spend some months in Northern Europe and then tell me that the average American has a better life than the people there do. I have spent a decade out of the US, working and exploring in 60+ other countries. The US continues to fall further and further behind the best places in the world. The reason is that we vote R and continue to undermine and underfund our collective government, along with all manner of societal problems we refuse to address intelligently. No place is perfect, but Switzerland and Norway are MUCH BETTER than the US, it is as simple as that.

Acts 2:17
So much poverty here in the US now. Blessings to all the poor worldwide. We all suffer from inflation grip.
Might like Bob Dylan.
To the point about America not giving money to its people, to some degree they do. One of the biggest things that causes that kind of welfare to fail is the like of financial education. If someone is desperate and needs money, they’ll spend it like it may not be able tomorrow. They look to fix their needs for today, not to prepare for the future. That and the current inflation rate just makes things all the more difficult to reduce the improverished population.
damn y'all in Pakistan even know we give away our money to everyone else
React to another great artist.. *Tom MacDonald*
Listen to songs like "Superman", "White People" (also called Black & White"), "Race War".
Muharem was really feeling it 😊
Ha! He's so passionate about everything - including righteous anger! Needs no prompting to express his views. As Adnan pointed out, there was almost no need to provide any translation for Muharam...he just GOT it.
Americans also cant understand why we help everyone else in the world except our own born and raised sisters and brothers on the street
Muharam is so attractive..
Tell your friend that we, in America, don't understand how they can give away money to other countries without taking care of their own people first, either.
He's a fraud. The comment about him refusing to play a concert over high ticket prices isnt telling you the whole truth. The only reason he even said anything is because of the intense backlash at him, then he tried to put it off on the venue, but the venue proved him to be liar. His message might be overall correct, but he is putting on a front
Bless you all. :)
10:15-- Mr. Abdul is the one who best understands the themes of the song before hearing the translated lyrics, as usual.
Éstas personas de alma limpia , hacen más por la paz que todos los políticos juntos . Occidente sólo enseña a tener prejuicios
Abdul is a good example of age come with being more wise.

I think you missed the point. With a 3.1 rate the US is 117 internationally ranked far from the worst. The point is one of our politicians convinced you of this lie. Stop drinking the Kool aid. Our economy is strong. No question.
