Hi Paul, At 12:43 you had a 1926 & 1918 farthings, after 1918 when the Gold standard was dropped, farthings ceased to be blackened. Your 1926 farthing seems to be the same colour as the 1918, was the 1926, struck from a blackened blank? and if so does this make it a rare variety?
Ice video. My dad collected coins as a little hobby when he got sick. I collect coins whenever I travel now and leave them at his grave when I go visit him.
That 1916 penny could have spent its life in a child's forgotten money box, saving itself a lot of wear and tear. My dad had a money box that his mum had sitting in her house somewhere until she died. Inside were all sorts of out of date coins which he reckoned had been sitting there for over 20 years.
When I was a kid my mother had a 1953 Coronation Crown in its presentation case. It was kept in a drawer and I would often take it out just for the pleasure of looking at it. My mum hinted that it was very valuable and that it must always be put back in the drawer afterwards. She passed away 8 years ago and during clearing up I found the Crown in the same drawer it had always been. I hadn't seen it for 30 years. What memories it brought back and yes ! I did tear up.. Her great " treasure " as she always thought of it was as you say worth only £2 or £3 .....but priceless to me. 🙏 RIP Mum.
Found a lovely gothic florin a few weeks ago detecting and last week found a silver hammered and a silver Roman coin from third century I believe…waiting for the correct ID from PAS.
Thanks very much for this interesting vid. I did like the coin depicting the D Day aircraft towing the gliders with the parptroopers ready to land. The three stripes on each wing were white paint markings which was a code. Any aircraft without them was the enemy.Tanks again.
I have an 1898 British penny I found metal detecting in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, at a mid 1800's homestead. A little worn and some staining on the reverse from years in the peat. But overall, it was protected from corrosion by the peat.
Definitely a bargain, as there are some silver and half silver coins amongst them. The condition of some of the older coins were better than the more modern ones! Nice upload Paul 👍
Hi, thanks for watching. I just use my phone camera. It's an HUAWEI p20 pro. It's over 4 years old now so I maybe upgrading soon. But I'm quite happy with the results at the moment 👍
Wow... Mums just died in January and I have found literally hundreds of similar coins in tins in her wardrobe. Going to have to get them looked at by someone in the know. Literally holding history in my hands.
That was an incredible eBay find. I live in Canada, so they're a lot less common and a lot more expensive to get British coins here (especially the predecimal), so maybe I'm just used to seeing higher prices, but the values you're estimating are way below any I've ever come across!
I love looking at someone coin collection no matter how small it was the collectors pride and joy as mine is to me so much history in these coins many thx
Growing up in the 60's us kids were always looking and hoping to find a 1933 penny. It was said only a dozen were minted and several were still in circulation and would be worth a million pounds!
That 1916 penny is incredible condition, if it has signs of some type of wear I would find it hard to believe and maybe polished, when you said about over or under valuing, I said to myself a lot of the coins seem to have been cleaned. Only you can tell as the coins need to be in your hand to know. You do really good photo work though if on a cell. I saw your post on how you do it but yet to try it myself.
You definitely got a bargain there Paul 👍 I wonder how many of your viewers, when you are penny hunting, shout at the screen " no mint mark" I do 😂😂😂 happy hunting x
I was given coins by my grandmother & I collected anything unusual as I went…I never really studied what I have & most of it is in bags to separate good ones from rubbing or touching other metals. I got a book & one day I need to sit down & look at what I have.
A nice selection of British coins well worth the money. Just a few in good grades of interest to a collector. The 1916 penny is excellent and possibly given by somebody who saved it as new. It certainly doesn’t fit with others of the similar dates that are in poor condition. Low values would be a temptation to save but as you go up there is a temptation to use as money when hard up. I made a similar set when a boy and the condition would be the same, so I guess it was from an estate after someone passed away. Certainly undersold at 12 pounds when you look at some silly asking prices
Had a valuer come to see my dad's collection which weren't worth very much but he did offer me £50 for a collection of modern day coins which I declined. Counted through them and totalled £137........ He also had bags of mint old ten pence and five pence pieces as well as a few bags of 1967 pennies.

Free postage Paul. When I buy stuff from eBay postage costs is the first thing I look at. I was caught out once on high postage fees. Never again though. Thanks for watching 👍

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - love these old pre-decimal coins.
A great EBay find Paul, anybody would be delighted with only paying £12 for those.
Great stuff Coin Patrol 👍🏻
Many thanks for the heads up / I will be scouring my youngster's self-collection of many old coins & "WHO" knows? Great video. Keep them coming!
That was a nice haul Paul. You certainly manage to find those pre-decimal coins. Looking forward to your next mammoth penny hunt

Take your time with that knife you've got 1003 pennys to look through remember.
Looks like you had a very good buy there. The 16 is a stunner and possibly worth a few pounds more than the £5 to the right person.
