this is really good. Garcia's steel playing is the best i've heard him play that instrument. actually the whole band sounds good and the sound quality is good. i always missed Garcia's steel guitar when he put that away in favor of regular 🎸. i read somewhere that he thought his playing wasn't good enough on either so he chose one over the other. he had such a distinct sound and style on steel that really showed his musical brilliance
WOW - The Quality is so High - it really is as if we stepped out of the Time Machine into this Date ! Such bubbly (Jerry's Pedal Steel Guitar playing) very Live 🤠 excitement !
David Nelson is the only living member of the riders. He is still playing with The David Nelson Band Did two shows here in Mendocino co this passed weekend. Worked with David and the Band for twenty plus years. All dear friends of mine.
it never ceases to amaze me that after all these years no one has ever covered any original new riders tunes ... marmaduke & torbet wrote so many fine country rockers .. it's a mystery ....
Ya’ll like the riders, need to check out the David Nelson Band while David is still with us. Got Wally Ingram on drums and Jay Lane sits in whenever he’s not with Bobby and Dead & Co. He was flying in from sphere to play Sunday gigs with them after Vegas runs Lots here on YT.
I was just listening to NRPS first lp (the white cover w cactus logo on front and picture of Jerry n band in some upstairs hallway on back). Jerry’s pedal steell makes that album great. Even without considering the difficulty level of playin’ a pedal steel guitar, I think it’s some of Jerry’s most musical phrasing anywhere on vinyl at least. It’s an album worth pulling out again. 1971 i believe - which is my own vintage👍🏻-52 yrs ago now) Can’t wait to hear this show. 👍🏻✌🏻
@@adamcrary1602 I think of that particular album as one long Jerry pedal steel solo. Of course the songs are great, David Nelson is great, perfectly complimenting Jerry. Marmaduke's singing really elevates the songs. In this same time period Jerry did pedal steel on Teach Your Children for CSNY, Candyman on American Beauty, his own 1st solo album, David Crosby's 1st solo album and parts of Workingman's Dead I think. Candyman and Dirty Business are unique to my ear for the expansiveness of the dynamics and Jerry's expressiveness. Dirtying up the pedal steel for for Dirty Business with a bit of wah is pure genius.
This is really the motherlode of Jerry's steel playing. It's got all of the brilliance of Teach Your Children and lots more...though it must be noted in honesty that Mickey's drumming is abysmal..

Wow. Ads between every song, huh? How despicable that you’re profiting off Jerry’s music. It’s free , and you’re making money. Shame on you.
@@kingfranklin4 I don’t monetize the channel. The ads are placed by the copyright owner and YT. Thanks for being a kind and considerate human ✌🏻🙏🏻

Jerry Garcia, Micky Hart, and Phil Lesh (Maybe) jamming with NRPS? Definitely gonna give this a listen. Thanks for posting and sharing.
