    The best part is that everyone thinks that dropping to B or A can only make it a heavy breakdown, but it's in standard tuning!

      A newer band that showcases the heaviness of standard is Hammerhedd! Love bands that show you don't have to tune to drop rasp to make something heavy.

      Miss Machine was the first thing I heard by them and come sunshine the werewolf I knew I already dug the hell out of it. Calculating Infinity I will say took a bit longer to get into I’ve only recently really been starting to get it.

    Always make sure to go to these types of shows- the ones in a basement, a bookstore, etc. Those underground/small band venues are the best.

      I know this was the first Dillinger song I ever heard and loved and I'll know every damn word for the rest of time. Especially after seeing them live. Even from the early stuff I LOVED IT ALL, "I want your Soul" is terrifying. Mike Patton is a genius, but so is everyone else. Greg intense af breaking ppls faces with microphones (true stories) and overwhelming talent from the drummer and guitar players... top 10 band, really. Will always miss these fuckers shows \m/

    it's pushing boundaries. showing people that their is music other than 4/4 rock, something that western pop culture is not ready for. that is definately art.
    I dont think any band has put this much energy into every song, and every show, they are one of the only true artistic bands remaining today.

    These songs are more wellthought than the most of other metalsongs that makes this music very well.

    Greg has one of the most versicle voices in the hardcore/metal/whatever scene right now. I mean listen to his side project Spylacopa, listen to Horse Hunter on Ire Works, then listen to songs like Sunshine the Werewolf or Lurch. He's incredible.

    There are some songs I need to listen to about 5 or 10 times before I "get" them. 43% Burnt was one of them. But right now, after so many listens, its actually one of my favourite tracks. Some songs are more accessible than others which is a great thing about DeP because they can write so flexibly and still make it sound "Dillinger".

      If you listen to this and you're take away is that people don't like this because they don't understand the timing, then I can't help but chuckle. I love Dillinger but they make easily some of the most abrasive and least welcoming music around. Some of even my most knowledgeable music friends can't stand them. They're a MASSIVELY acquired taste.

    They DO have their music broken down, planned out, and comprised of complicated riffs. It's completely planned out, they don't really make up anything on the spot. That's why it's so amazing. They can stop on a dime, and play flawlessly in 17/8 without missing a note in a 16th note run.

    Holy crap they look really young here. I remember seeing them around this time in Detroit after Chris/Brian left the band and they had Gil and Tuttle join. The show was fucking crazy, I remember it was like -20 degrees out in the winter and being bundled up in line to get in... I left the show missing multiple pieces of clothing lol.

    I cant imagine non-fans of mathcore would get a kick out of this in the middle of a shopping centre... I can just imagine how much they'd hate this. However.. this is art, this is amazing metal, and its some of the best shit out there.. havent been able to wrap my ears around it recently because of my damn headache though.
