Yo they finally made a video about that one line from Birthday 18 about how Yotam's body revolts him. This is like the Boyhood of body dysmorphia .
I watched this show as a kid when it came out. I remember thinking, wow, they go through all of this suffering to be “pretty” and they still end up losing the beauty contest. And they called them “ugly ducklings” before they had the work done. Times were weird back then.
I have eastern european ancestors and I'm hairy as fuck. It took me forever to take my shirt off on the lake or beach. But then I found out that there are people who like hairy mena lot. And I was like... okay? So... lets try accepting myself.

When Yotam posts, I click. Also yeah the erasure of ethnically different noses is genuinely awful, I mean people can obviously do whatever they want to themselves but it's really sad how millions of people grow up hating their beautiful faces just because they don't look nordic/european

This show was depressing. They found these women with an unhealthy hatred of their bodies and took advantage of it for profit. At the same time, it encouraged this behavior and edited each episode in a way that was shaming them for not having "perfect bodies". And in the end everyone left looking like a clone of the previous contestant, it removed all unique traits these women had.

I really like this video. it's funny and it's real and I like how the green screen backgrounds are strange places. there are some things I don't like about my body and there are other things I can't change about myself and I like addressing them with content like this because it makes it feel less stifling. happy birthday to anybody who is on the fence about their jawline or that blemish above their lips and have a good night
