      I was wondering the same thing but I see no videos on this exact scenario. I ended getting the 990 pro with heatsink and the Graugear heatsink cover so basically two heatsinks working together. Still don't know if the elecgear would be cooler.

    What is the the best SSD FOR PS5 PRO IN 2024, in terms of using its 120hz mode for large games like CALL OF DUTY AND BATTLEFIED. What's the best drive to get for PS5 the Firecuda 530 1TB is still great but we need 2TB OPTIONS NOW IN 2024.

    Upgrading from 1TB M.2 SSD to 4TB. Anyone know of the simplest way to copy or backup everything on the old SSD to the new one? Not looking for fastest method or one that requires extra computers or copier devices-I don’t care if it takes a long time. I have the new SSD and a USB M.2 case. I don’t want to do a bunch of swapping around. Worst case would involve another USB HD to plug into the PS5 as an intermediary bridge in the whole process.

      I just bought the 4tb as well for ps5. I took the amazon cooler for 11$ double sided which is overkill here and apparently can reduce the temp from 10C to 30C. Some people said they get reduction by 30C. I haven’t install it yet. We will see.

      @@ananijedzankic i bought the samsung 990 pro 4TB without heatsink at good price and i installed it into my 11$ cooler double side bought on amazon. It works great. The ps5 does not overheat. I think the ps5 is cooler. It moved 3 big games i had at 7 GB/sec write. The read test after format was over 6,5 GB/sec. It is super fast. I was terrible at the install because i have parkinson, and at one moment i could not find one of the plastic cover of the thermal pad, and i thought i leave it on it. So i removed the disc immediately after the move and the disk was very cool. I think it works better than i thought but i am very bad now to do even a simple operation in an hardware. I found the missing plastic right after unmount everything. I reinstalled the disc for nothing. To not take any risk i used the replacement thermal pad on the top as the ssd is single sided. With the emotion and my shaking body i also didn’t shut off the console correctly and i the ps5 had to do a repair. What a mess i am ! But it is all my fault. The samsung 990 pro 4 tb and the cooler are very good. Now i play several days at red dead redemption and it load faster. I tried tlous part 1 ps5 and jedi survivor and these load very fast. No issues at all with the console it runs cool. Now i free nearly all the embedded ssd, i kept only the small game lego starwars, rachet and clank and sackboy and i keep it for the media, all the big games were moved on the 4tb samsung. The production date was late october 2023 so i didn’t install it in my pc to update the firmware, with my ability i would have messed my pc as well.

    My Samsung 980 Pro 2TB that I've been using for my PS5 for about 2 years just died on me. I would like to buy this 4TB one, but I'm really scared to pay so much money for something that might die as well. It's funny, I'm constantly reading that SSD are supposed to be SOOOO much more reliable than HDDs with moving parts, and that they're supposed to last SOOO much longer, but I've never had a HDD die on me, whereas I've had nothing but trouble with SSD USB sticks and hard drives, and now the dead 980 Pro. Maybe I'm just unlucky, or maybe it's all a big lie that is designed to get us to buy SSDs, even though they're in fact less reliable.

Plus I open in up several times a year and dust it with an dust-blower for electronics. Anyway, I would buy a 4TB SSD with a built-in heatsink this time around, if I only knew that the damn thing would work for half as long as my still perfectly working PS1 memory card from the late 90s.

    The PS5's PCIe 4.0 has a bottleneck obviously that's why we're not seeing 7500MB/S speeds.

    So is the 1000MB/S increase worth it? One should buy accordingly.

    • @CC-gt3ro
      @CC-gt3ro 10 місяців тому +1

      I get over 6500 MB/sec read and it copied the 3 big games at around 7000 MB / sec. The 990 pro 4 TB is crazy fast. And yes the ps5 is the bottleneck here, but at this speed it is already overkill. The ps5 is very good. I was an xbox and pc guy but that is the past, i am impress by the ps5. I simply put the ssd in a cheap 11$ cooler bought on amazon few month ago but not used it yet. The samsung 990 runs cooler than the 980 and it is single sided so even more easily to keep it at low temperature. The disc was very cool at the touch after moving 350 GB. ( yes i uninstall it and hold the cooler so i can say it stays super cool)

      FYI
      For the 980Pro you can do a firmware update and get a significant boost. I got like a 5.5-5.6gb when I tested it first. However, I read about a firmware did the firmware update and got the speed to increase to 6.2gbs. However the 990 it seems you dont need an update and its speed out of the box seems to be between 6.5 and 6.6gbs and also comes with an option that goes up to 4tb while the 980Pro is limited to 2tb.
