When I watched this movie, and saw Jesus being whipped, something inside me changed, man. Ever since, I've committed myself to God in ways I'd never done before. It changed my life, and I know I'm a sinner, and have a long way to go, but this film set me on the right path, and I will never be able to thank Mel enough for it

Seen this movie in theaters and the theater was packed. Everyone talking and smiling on Easter Sunday. When the movie got to the torture part the theater was in shock and so quiet. After no one said a word, people walked out like they seen a ghost.
Jesus told Peter, "Before the cock crows, you will have denied me 3 times." Which would explain why after his resurrection, Jesus asked Peter, "Do you love me?" 3 times.

I believe he was the covering cherub described in Ezekiel 28. And "Lucifer" isn't a name, it's a title that might not even relate to satan. As far as I know, Mel Gibson actually wanted satan to be portrait by a woman because the evil twists what is good. It's a beautiful female but with a male voice. It's humane, but also unnatural cause of the shaved eyebrows

People say its a horrible movie because they wanted Jesus to be happy the entire movie. It doesn't work that way, BUT Jesus was a happy man and he was happy to teach the ways of the lord and to spread love and knowledge throughout the world. But he was still part human, he felt pain and sadness and he willingly went through the beatings and Crucifixion knowing he would suffer more pain than any man that ever existed, and he did it for us because he loves us and wanted to give us a greater chance at redemption and walking with the lord. This movie in my opinion is the best because it shows how loving Jesus was and what he willing went through because of his love for us

I like the look on the faces of Pilate and the centurion that they exchanged. Like when they were calling for Barabbas, they looked at each other like they were both thinking, "Are they crazy? They want us to release a murderer?" And then when they were demanding that Jesus be crucified, even after he'd been beaten so badly, they looked at each other with a look on both of their faces like, "Are they serious? Even after the beating he received? They're ridiculous."
even the look on barabas face said alot. for a murder he looked at jesus with pity, how he was beaten so bad.
Historically barabbas was another person they saw as a “false messiah” his name, bar abbas means son of the father. He was another person who went around “performing miracles” and gathering followers. It was a common thing and even still to this day we see people do that as well.
Essentially that scene shows the hypocrisy, condemning Jesus for the same thing Barabbas was well known for.
I remember watching this movie in theaters with my sister & lil brother. There was not a dry eye in the theater when the movie ended. 😢Everyone was weeping watching it. 😭Such a beautiful, painful movie to watch! 💛Whatever folks opinion about Mel Gibson may be, this was an amazing depiction of what Jesus ENDURED for US. 💛Loved your reaction! Cry while watching this movie is not a bad thing it shows that you have a heart and that you have compassion and that makes you human I also cried when I watched this movie it's beautiful and heart breaking at the same time I'm a horror movie fanatic the more blood and guts the better but I just could not handle watching this movie more than once because this is not just a movie it's the truth of one man's suffering pain and torture just because of what he believed the good he was doing and how special he was

This movie is of course one of a kind, powerful and devastating. I think everyone, especially Christians should see it once, but I wouldn't blame anyone for being unable to watch it again. I wept like a child. What king ever loved his people so much? Thank you Lord for so loving the world you gave your only begotten son. Peter was terrified of death..he was so deeply ashamed of what he did. Jesus had already forgiven him for being afraid. My heart breaks for Peter. During the flogging scene when they were using the cane..Jim C. actually got hit by the cane. They missed the guard board and hit him accidentally.

Scripture says that Jesus was not even recognizable after they scourged him. So while it does seen overdone in the film, in reality he was beaten so much worse. And to think he came and went through all that, and became sin when he knew no sin, and was separated from the father for the first time in existence, and died and rose again just so we wouldnt have to spend eternity in hell. The first time I watched Mel Gibson's "The Passion" I had such a compulsive crying fit that I couldn't watch the rest of the film. I had to be supported by my girlfriend - now my wife. I remember her asking me, distressed, rocking me: "What are you feeling? What's happening?" And I simply couldn't answer. I lost my voice from crying so much.

Cus D'Amato, who trained my dad and uncle to the NY Golden Gloves championships long before he trained Mike Tyson, was as great a philosopher as he was a trainer. This reminded me of something he used to say about people in general: "Whatever someone does in the end, it was always what they were going to do from the beginning." IOW's if you told him you lost your faith in Jesus, he would say that was your plan from the beginning, conscious or unconscious. Cus would say the same about Judas, that his plan was to betray Jesus from the moment they met. Coincidentally Judas' father was a Pharisee.

I feel like Judas gets such a bad rep as "The Betrayer", I did a study on Judas awhile ago and his story is truly tragic. He was handpicked by Jesus to be a disciple just as much as Matthew. Jesus knew where His story was ending and he knew the decision that Judas would make, and Jesus still accepted him as a friend and as family.
Judas' story is one of the most tragic and heartbreaking.
He had so many regrets and unfortunately he paid the ultimate price. 💯✌🏼

I watched this movie when I was like 6 (way too young) and I remember crying when Jesus was being whipped…he was tortured and killed for us and even after all that he STILL LOVES US…thank you God Almighty for sending your son to die for a sinner like me, in Jesus name I pray Amen

The blood and gore in this movie is only a third of what they say really happend to Jesus when he was put on the cross they say that he no longer looked human they even ripped out his beard from his face and kept hitting him over the head to drive the four inch thorns deeper into his head that's how much evil they had in them

I sometimes think that Judas was particularly found and allowed to be part of the 12 diciples because he's vital to the prophecy.
My favorite scene was when Mary couldn't seem to handle it, then comforted Jesus with the flashback of Jesus as a little boy. It takes a uniquely strong and loving mother to bear all that.
By the way, thank you for reacting to this. I always watch this every Good Friday to remind myself. It's a tradition in our home to observe all yhe events leadi g to up to this day, then we have to stay silent by 3p.m., then watch old Biblical movies until night time.

The passion of the Christ has been and always will be the greatest film in history it’s not just Jim who is playing Jesus but I don’t see Jim I see Jesus because it’s a very powerful film I watched it more than once I loved the film it’s touching and I couldn’t get more of the film I loved it to my very core my life has changed forever because of the film it’s not just a movie it’s about Jesus and his final twelve hours of his life I was deeply touched by Jim’s portrayed of being Jesus I truly believe that he was indeed the best actor who could ever play the role of Jesus in such a powerful film my life was changed through watching the film god bless Jim and mel Gibson for their hard work of making this film possible for all audiences of every theater would be honored to watch and see this film unfold before our eyes this has not only been a r rated film but it has changed my life and all those who have seen it at its timely but the film has impacted my life to the fullest extent as a devoted believer and changed to draw closer to Jesus each day god bless you

Keep in mind that Judas was a very important part of the mission. He came to die for our sins. Without his 'treason' it wouldn't been possible. They spoke Aramaic, Hebrew and Roman (Italian) in this movie. Gibson took a lot of creative adaptations different from the scriptures to portray Jesus' last hours. Very emotional and powerful movie.

I just found out that I have the same Hebrew name as Jesus. Yeshua was Jesus' Hebrew name as well as his Aramaic name. Yeshua is a shortened version of Yehoshua as far as I know. Meaning all of those translate to the Christian English name: Joshua. I'm proud to have the same name as Jesus as well as the same name as the man who led the Israelites across the River Jordan, Joshua. Edit: My comment came off very vain. I don't think this name makes me any more holy, let alone more valuable, than any living being. I am made of the same particles as every living creature on Earth, and my name doesn't change that. It's just, whenever I hear my name I feel good inside, it feels strange, but pleasant.

They are speaking Aramaic. Hebrew was not spoken as an actual language, only used for religious ceremony by a few people at the top of the Judaic leadership of that time. It was almost completely lost when in the early 1900s a handful of Zionist rabbis and Zionist colonialists resurrected it as a language and formally made rules and expanded the vocabulary to make it a whole working language, because they knew having a language would tie together the ethnostate the zionists wanted to create. Aramaic is very similar to Arabic. Showing how the true descendants of Jesus and Israelites became what we know as modern day Palestinians. We see that with genetic evidence and DNA testing as well. Also Palestinian Christian along with Jordanian and Syrian Christians can trace their lineages back to this time, and even family lines of certain disciples.

Modern Catholism is not original Catholism. Praying to Mary, and the Saints goes against the 2nd commandment. Confession is a sin when you confess your sins and are "forgiven" by a man. You should confess your sins to God, as he's the only one who can forgive. Catholism has also changed the Holy Day to Sunday, when, in actuality, it is on Saturday. Not to mention, the Catholic church has also removed the 2nd commandment and split the 10th. There is also so much more than is wrong with it.
