Andy when u said u were getting a new motor for the big door u wanted another 8550 but u said the only opener from liftmaster u like is the 8160WB so why not get that?
If I ever get a first gen 8550 I will put that up since that's what I have now, and it would be a lot easier to just do a head swap then to fuss with replacing the motor
I’d buy an internet gateway before a Battery. The battery was great on my 8500W was great for the two times I’ve needed it, but I can live without it. The smartphone control is much more useful

I had the first gens liftmaster DC motor 2500D and the motor was extremely quiet and didn't sound like the 8550w does. Sadly the belt snapped and my door came crashing down and it was replaced with the cheap chain drive liftmaster and I'm not a fan of the noise 😒
That’s a pretty good video not bad and when you get the new springs and if you do decide to get another LiftMaster 8550 if you redo the emergency release row panhandle and replace all the parts not if you’re just going to bolt the new opener to the rail then I don’t know why but I’m just the type of person who loves to get that emergency release rope and handle done correctly if you haven’t noticed so when you install you know but are just make sure you do that correctly and you will be set to go lol
@@camerongizer2588 I dont want to put the blame on anyone because it could have been the manufacturer sent out the wrong springs or the company calculated wrong
i liked those updates and remodels in your video

Sorry for late reply, I might be getting the MyQ but we would have it on a separate network from our normal one.

I'm not getting the myq. My dad didn't want it
RIP sensor wires.

Yeah I love the 2500. Those machines actually pulled more weight than the 8550!
@@TBHD724 oh wow I didn't know that ! That explains why the battery back up was huge and contained 2 12v lead acid batteries
Yup!
Man I feel bad throwing out my 2500D but sadly liftmaster support told me my opener is a vintage model and they no longer carry parts for it anymore 😒
Well, if the belt snapped, u should have been able to get one for it. The 2500 uses the same belt as the 8550W

I'm hoping I can get a free motor from LiftMaster, assuming it's under warranty. Not sure abt the springs yet.
dude the big door in this video doesn't even sound close to an 8550 It sounds like it was beat up
Wrong springs on the door, making the door heavier then it should be and ruining the motor
yeah I knew that but dude the guy who installed the 8550 was not paying attention and put on the wrong springs he should have payed attention

@@TBHD724 oh well hopefully when the springs brake they give u the right springs
omg that motor sounds horrible!
Yup I'm im going to see if we have lifetime warranty so I get a free motor
that’s a good idea.
TheBrazilianHotDog724 keep us updated! I’d be curious to see if they would send a free one just because of a noise
Yup I will. I have to get door balanced first
