Great question. and it depends on the model you get I think. The N4.50 model that we are putting in here is Kubota based. It is a popular engine for use in marine applications. Nanni, Beta, Onan and more have different methods of doing this. We are particularly liking the design decisions that Nanni have made to protect the engine from salt water corrosion and electrolysis.

There is after all a bit difference between all dead and mostly dead….with all dead there is only one thing you can do…” aaaand now I’m staying up all night watching that again!
@@RedSeas hahaha sorry not sorry. But look, in spite of us receiving 8 lovely brand spanking batteries today, the fact remains that we don't currently have enough power to even watch The Princess Bride all the way through. And our engines are still in pieces. And it's getting colder here in Australia, which as everyone knows, is entirely peopled with criminals, and criminals are used to having people not trust them, as you are not trusted by me, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you.
PROTECT YOUR FEET & TOES AND HANDS AND FINGERS ! ! SAFETY FIRST ! AUDIT YOUR FUEL QUALITY , WATER FROM CONDENSATION AND DIESEL BUG CAN RETURN TO FUEL TANKS VERY VERY QUICKLY NO MATTER WHAT YOU DID 3,6,or 9 OR 12 MONTHS AGO...
We hear that! Safety flip flops to the rescue! 🛟 we “get away with” a lot on this project and while it looks unsafe at times…most of the time we are thinking thru our safety measures for us and the engines. Other times we simply don’t have the safety equipment needed so we do our best to keep clear of the danger. Still counting ten fingers and ten toes so far
Great question. I guess we are in a bit of a rare situation to be able to evaluate both makes in the same boat. There are a bunch of reasons we have fallen in love with Nanni. Spare parts are easy to find anywhere in the world, don’t cost the earth or require certified yanmar mechanics to install and reset ECUs. Just a few reasons. We detailed more of our decision in a previous episode (Ep104). It might be interesting to watch and see our break down.
Someone’s gotta know what they are doing, even if you don’t. I suspect they looked up the spec and dimensions….to check what you gave them. To important to get wrong 🥹

Thankfully they are both the same rotation so no need to worry there. I’ve never thought what would happen if they were opposite tho. Interesting. Going to have to do some maths on that.
@@RedSeas show me the mats baby 🤓
I had a friend in Egypt put his prop on backwards and you can imagine his surprise when he put the engine on to drive to pull off the jett...He had a charter to do it in less than two hours and was about to get in the water to take it off and correct the error. The prop weighed the best part of 150kg.. So he was going to need help.. Luckily he had a hydraulic gear box so I told him that it would be much quicker and a dam site easier to just switch over the two hydraulic hoses. And hey presto, he was back in business. @@RedSeas
Very dead & quite dead... I feel like a great opportunity to quote The Princess Bride was missed here.
It turns out, your second engine was only MOSTLY dead.
To blaith!!!! Now you’re talking my language. “And if you ever feel like dying, feel free to visit” 😂
Never get involved in a land war in Asia! 😂
@@RedSeas POWERED BY NANNI !
But why? Yanmar is better...
No Nanni.....
Why ? No arguments @@JHK66
So you got a major storm coming…. That’s lucky NOT… So time pressure on top.. 🥹… Not great guys. 🙏🏼
Cyclone season has been fun up to now so here’s hoping that being on the dock, with no engines, and punctured fenders isn’t gong to be an issue 😂
@@RedSeas - I gotta admit it’s not optimal….🫣
Someone’s gotta know what they are doing, even if you don’t. I suspect they looked up the spec and dimensions….to check what you gave them. To important to get wrong 🥹
We would hope so. The Nanni team have been #OnIt from day one.
