This is one of the first videos I’ve watched as a newbie, and I feel like I’ve learned more from this one video than all the others I’ve seen. Can’t wait watch your other videos. Thank you so much!!
Simply brilliant!! You've demystified the beginning spinning. I have always wondered how you would even begin to get that done! So looking forward to the plying video. Thanks so much!!
Excellently done! Your teaching is so clear! You started at the beginning, explaining the rationale for every step so viewers know not just WHAT to do and HOW, but also WHY we are doing it! This is great teaching! Clear at last, clear at last! I'm subscribing--and getting me one of those spinner things! :)
@@HeartHookHome Thank you so much for making the video. The spinner is coming back into stock in April 2022, according to their website. It will be a newly updated version.
Dreaming Robots EEW spinners are fantastic and affordable! I have both the Nano and the 6.0. I know that he is coming out with a new version on the Nano and I plan on getting that one too. (I do not think the ones that are coming over to restock are the new versions) I would recommend either one. I say get the 6.0 if you are serious about spinning. Its still portable but holds 3x as much yarn
As a long time crochet artist and spinner I am going to offer a bit of advice. You say to spin with a "Z" and ply with an "S" (clockwise and counterclockwise). All commercial yarn is made this way. But as someone who crochets it would actually be to your advantage to do it opposite! A complaint I hear from people learning to crochet is that the yarn always wants to "split". That is because when you knit you naturally turn the yarn in a counterclockwise motion, but when you crochet your yarn is being turned clockwise! Take a min and think about how you do your yarn overs in crochet... So it is actually to your advantage to finish off your yarn (or ply your yarn) in the same direction! No more splits! I mostly spin everything "S" or counterclockwise and then ply "Z" or clockwise. If I am spinning a yarn that will not be plyed, that will be left as a single then I spin it "Z"... I had heard this before so I experimented with both and analyzed the way yarn moves when I crochet VS knit. Since I mostly crochet I definitely recommend switching the direction of your spin. It makes crocheting more enjoyable and easier with handspun! Please do yourself a favor and give it a try!
Soooo helpful. I'm brand new to spinning and this clarified some things I've been struggling with. Thank you! Also, I thought electric spinners were super expensive - your little nano spinner is so cute and affordable. Might be an option for me for travel.
This is probably one of the best beginner videos I've seen. I've been pulling the fiber with my pinched thumb and forefinger which resulted in me getting trigger finger in my thumb. I see now that it doesn't pull the fiber it just stops it and that I should be pulling back with the other hand. Thanks!
My goodness, I’ve been watching the drop spinning and debating how well I might take to that.... I’d no idea anything like this existed, this seems much more doable!!! Thank you so much for a lovely tutorial!
Absolutely stunning tutorial for beginners! Outstanding job explaining everything and demonstrating what you are saying. Specifically, the explanation of drafting and explaining the "drafting triangle." Thank you!

Hi , if there's anyone here from the UK ( same as me) . You can get them from The Threshingbarn. They're £135 including postage. Ordered Wednesday and it arrived Saturday. They're the Onky sellers in the UK. Ive just got one, not had time to try out though. Hope this information helps. I spin using Drop Spindles but after seeing these on UA-cam decided I need one. Xx
This is one of the best how to spin videos I’ve seen yet!

Finally I see exactly how it should be done! You were spinning slowly enough to make it clear. Thank you.
Glad it helped!

Thanks for the lesson. I don't have equipment for spinning, but it intrigues me. I may need to give it a try. 🥰🧶🦙🐑🐐🐪🧶🥰

So glad I found this video!! Thank you!
Wonderful I have been wanting to learn how to make my own yarn. Thank you
Excellent video. You make me want to order one. I need to draft more consistently. That way I don’t have to do two things at once. ❤️🌺

I really learned a lot from this video! Hope the plying video is coming soon.
Tusen Takk! A fabulous video! Thank you so very much.
Great video! do you think this makes more even yarn than using a drop spindle?
Okay this is very well explained.... why on earth can I not do it properly. My yarn gets over spun and wont go onto the spool at all.
What a brilliant video, thank you so much for sharing all your knowledge 😀 x

Quick question:
Where did you get that spinning wheel? I've been looking all over Amazon.

Absolutely fascinating 👍🏻♥️🙏🏻.
Buna unde pot cumpara aceasta mașina?
Where can I buy one of these wheels in the UK please? I have looked but can't find anything so was hoping you may be able to help 🤞

ughhh that's it imma spend money. where do you get your fiber?
I usually buy my braids of fiber on Etsy
@@HeartHookHome if I compare apples to apples, is it a lot less expensive to spin own yarn? Will I save money building my stash?
Finally, a fibre spinning video that doesn’t involve a ginormous 1700’s-looking captains wheel. Thank you!!
I have no idea why I didn't know that there were electric spinners!
