As you may be able to tell if you've listened to my other songs, Lafayette is Tanna's younger brother, responsible for banishing her from the Changeling kingdom and stealing her life, focing a halfling child onto her who she would raise as her own (Zamatchi). The reason this song is so different from the others is that this song is from Lafayette himself and not some bard in a tavern and it reads like a diary, a lament from the top of a cold castle as he swings from regret and sadness to justification and righteousness. This story ties everyone but Keria together but her story will come too, there are no villains, there are no heroes, just tragedy and the unfortunate fate of the lesser of two evils.
I think Lafayette is such a complex character and his intentions are both a reflection of the trappings of royal life and the humanity in his choice to sacrifice himself for his sister. It really is a pretty story and I'm glad I got to tell this one, though it's not as jaunty as Zamatchi, it's still a great song imo.
