The moment when Joel pulled on the gun to demonstrate to Ellie that the grip method worked, I couldn't help but smile. Joel really manages to act like a dad without "acting like a dad" if you know what I mean.
Yep! It's not something he's doing consciously. it's just his fatherly instincts shining through.
My dad taught me that once you're a father, everything changes. And he also taught me that no matter how old your son gets, you're still his son, and as such he will always love you and be worried about you.
I guess here I can actually see a little of my dad in this clip.
A parental figure with dad instincts
Dude the emotion in his eyes when he says I’m sorry- damn good actor
I like how they added Ellie getting teary eyed by Joel’s apology, adds to her innocence a bit.
Joel is more vulnerable in the HBO series, in the game he couldn’t say he was sorry but Ellie knew he was, both versions of these characters are a little different and I love them.
So much left unsaid in this scene. So much hinted at. Unless you've played the game or until you want the whole series you absolutely cannot know what quiet moments like this mean to these two people. Hurt. Need. Fear. Regret. It's all there, just under the surface.
That little “I know” at the end
dude that fucking theme right when joel says i’m sorry it gets me everytime
the weight of this scene with that perfect theme it’s just amazing
Basic Gun Survival Teachings in the Apocalypse with Joel Miller in Ellie.
This episode is the better.
Joel Miller.... in Ellie?
@@jnr5703NOOOO
I didn't saw it sounded that Bad when I first read it 😭😭😭
@@jnr5703 I think he meant to say Joel Miller AND Ellie, but it came out wrong.
Joel: Little girls shouldn´t have to shoot people. T-T
Ellie: Wasn´t my first time.
Joel: Oh, well, in this case, have my gun. :D
It was her gun.
There's a line of dialogue from the game's version of this s ene that I really like. Joel says to Ellie "You have to respect it" after he gives her the pistol and I really like that.
I myself enjoy going to the pistol range to do a little target shooting and sometimes I take a friend. I always allow time for them to familiarize themselves with my gun and how to perform various functions, (all while the weapon is loaded with non-firing dummy rounds of course) and I often think of that scene when I'm giving a lesson on the basic handling and operation of the gun.
Troy Baker:"For emergencies only!"
Ppl overlook the fact when Joel is overpowered in this moment. And some like game Joel would of fought back. They were actually referencing the hotel lobby moment. When Joel got overpowered. And Ellie killed that hunter
First time I watched this episode it was my least favorite, but honestly, the more I rewatch it and especially now that I am editing my video on it, this episode really is amazing and has some of my favorite scenes in the entire show so far.
Joel: Shows Ellie how to use a gun
3:51 Also Joel: Lets Ellie to put cocked pistol in her backpack
I cringed at that too, jesus h christ. One wrong jolt and, bang, negligent discharge. He also didn't teach her how to cock it, uncock it, load and unload, insert and remove mag, safety on/off, or any gun safety rules - muzzle discipline, trigger discipline, background awareness, etc. She's more dangerous to herself and to him now than to any infected or bad guys.
There’s no round in the chamber. Doesn’t matter if it’s cocked or not
@@MoparMadness93 Except now crap gets in there and prevents the hammer from falling and you've got a paper weight instead of a weapon. And Rule #1: a gun is always loaded
@@ChesapeakeWahido I’m not saying it’s not the best idea but the comment I was replying too was making it sound like it was going to go off in her backpack or she would accidentally shoot it because the hammer was back even though a round wasn’t chambered
Thank you for saying this. I was about to comment, and then I saw that I was not alone in wondering WTF?!?
It’d be cool to see Ellie teach the same grip method to someone else in season 2
Mando teaching Hilda how to use weapons.
Мой любимый эпизод, часто пересматриваю !
figures that their first bonding moment was over a gun
I love bella ramsey
DOES THAT MEAN ELLIE KILLED RILEY?
Most probably
pretty much, in the game she did (if i remember correctly) which is why she didnt wanna talk about who the first person she killed and why the topic of killing makes her cry
I always asumed so. I mean she turned.
Who’s riley
@@certifiedhacker8422you will understand on episode 7, there will be a Riley and Ellie flashback
She was mentioned in episode 1 too when Ellie talked to Marlene.
Reminds me of Lee teaching Clementine to shoot a gun.
Learn to shoot if you want to survive !
or run and hide 🙈
too bad we can't outrun bullets
did anyone else see the unsafe action at the last
I'm pretty sure when he said ''you put it in your pack'' he knew like when a parent know when their teenager hides alcohol, but this for a good reason comes out..
I bet everyones teeth in this universe are impeccable 😂
Modern world 'got' literally...
As a missouri resident, this is what visiting Kansas City is like
I woulda much rather seen a show where Joel was in his prime, it’s a bit depressing knowing what’s gonna happen simply because of his old age
What she say petra's school?
FEDRA School.
Was Riley her first kill? 😭😭😭 Ellie would have noticed that she wasnt turning after a few hours while Riley was struggling to keep it together. I think she may have asked Ellie to kill her.
The lack of gun safety was kinda cringe. Joel's first lesson should've been to not point the gun at anything you don't want to destroy.
In that world, anything you are pointing at, needs to be destroyed. Different times, different rules……
@@JimsEquipmentShed She literally points it at Joel. Clearly he did not need to be destroyed.
@@revanofkorriban1505 He emptied the gun before giving it to her.
@@jeninjaradat4308 Another rule of gun safety is to always treat a gun like it's loaded. It's not unheard of for a round to be chambered, and for somebody to blow out someone's head because they thought it was empty and pulled the trigger.
What do you expect from a bunch of limp-wristed leftist writers who have never even touched a real firearm before??
Project Zomboid>The Last of Us
Leaps and bounds better than last episode
Can't have an episode with emotion, no sir
