Hello! So something i find a little sketchy/scary about tiktok link sharing is that it tracks the user who SHARED the link. So if i have a tiktok, and i send my moms a link, even if its from a DIFFERENT tiktoker, a banner will appear to everyone who gets the link to connect to me. Even when my mom sends it to someone else. I do not have tiktok, but a friend of hers sent a link to her, then she to me, and i saw the user. And i just felt so sketched out by that practice. Im in information security so that freaks me out. Thought you would want to share!! While you may be very public with a platform, i wouldnt want to be :P you know? Love the vids and information.
Same. At one point I had close to 100 tabs open. Eventually I get over the need of wanting it. It also helps that I refuse to purchase anything online, lol. I can't tell you how great it felt to close all but 2 of those tabs 🤭
I know that woman said she only bought it to see what she'd get but there were probably hundreds, if not thousands who bought it thinking they were getting a deal. That price point should have told them it was a scam but people want things for very little. I just bought a rug at Target for $10. It's doing its job but had I seen the same one selling for just under $3 online I would have lol'd, rolled my eyes then left the page. I'm not saying you can't get a good deal on a rug but if that were the case I would need to see it in person. Inspect the heck out of it, lol...
Or only buy specials directly from the reputable companies page. Tarte had Shape Tape concealer on sale for $15, I bought a couple. Great deal, but only buy if you know the company, not another page. Never buy makeup from Chinese companies or ever from eBay, it’s a horror show. 😳
I don’t do TikTok. It sounds like a hot mess between scammers, unethical creators, attorneys filing lawsuits against fellow content creators falsely accusing them of defamation and striking others channels. I prefer long form content. Now, I don’t own a TV and don’t use any streaming services aside from Amazon, so UA-cam is really my main source of entertainment aside from podcasts and reading.
usually, whenever platforms allows users to make money through it, it's a big invitation for the people with less morals to start scamming people who don't know better than taking the too good to be true offers. Tiktok is just another example of it
8:42 I'm a Sephora employee and I'm well acquainted with Sol De Janeiro. IT DOESN'T COME IN A BOX. We receive them in cases or just loose in the shipment boxes, but the peoduct itself isn't packaged with a box. The cap and part of the bottle is sealed with a perforated plastic wrap. The bottle has a tapered rounded bottom and the top has embossing. I know that Sephora is expensive for a lot of people and little joys like a body mist is something that people treasure, so I feel so bad for those who got scammed
it's crazy that ✨coincidentally✨ when people give their credit card info to tiktok suddenly they get their money stolen, that sounds like a class action lawsuit waiting to happen
It goes back to the age old saying, “if it seems too good to be true, it probably is”. If you see something trending and expensive that’s listed on a random shop online for a heavily discounted price, it’s likely inauthentic or a flat out scam.
I remember being a kid and when we were looking at projectors, I found one that was $350 for a projector that was normally $1300. I was told that the price was too good to be true and therefore it probably isn’t, so we never bought it. Later we found out that the listing was for the bulb only and not the projector itself, hence the lower price. Either you’re getting scammed or are missing a key detail is what I learned there.
This is right up there with the glut of Amazon product names that literally say "OpenAI cannot complete this request because that violates copyright" because we are at peak AI scam shops
Be careful with reviews. They can be manipulated. I don’t know about TikTok but Amazon stacks the reviews, meaning some of the reviews are not on the product you are actually purchasing OR its an AI generated review based on “average reviews.”
Not just that, some sites don't even post your review if it's not positive. I bought expensive leggings somewhere but they just were not it for 40 bucks, and the seams started to fall apart after the first wash. I left a review that was never posted, but after mine, several 5 stars reviews were posted. And that was from a small brand. smh 😒
Amazon won’t even let you leave a negative review anymore. I bought a new leash and got sent a used one and they said I couldn’t post that because that’s how it was “shipped “ or something dumb like that but yeah now you can’t even write a review without it being filtered through.
Fxk Amazon, I didn't even realize that I was buying something from a third-party seller on Amazon prime, the seller cancelled my order without telling me, and then, THEY said that "I DIDN'T QUALIFY FOR A REFUND, BECAUSE OF THE A-Z AGREEMENT!!" I THREATENED TO CALL THEIR AREAS STATE REPRESENTATIVES OFFICE, THEIR CONGRESS PERSON, AND THE BBB OF THEIR COUNTY, GUESS WHAT??!!! ALL OF A SUDDEN I GOT MY REFUND!!! DON'T FXK WITH THE BULL 🐂♉, YOU GET THE HORNS 🤘
@@Inactiveuser938I actually JUST got a message back like that... the shipping was long on the item, and I wanted to let people know the shipping was even longer than they said, so be prepared, and they said any reviews discussing shipping isn't valid.
That girl got banned for trying to sell a counterfeit. I don’t feel bad for that? It’s on you as the affiliate to ensure you’re selling a legitimate product. It wasn’t Stanley that reached out to her yet she agreed to sell Stanley cups? Make it make sense. Overall, be smart. Make sure the company you’re buying from is a registered company/LLC so you can look up who owns it.
I feel the same way, honestly. Like, she should have gotten her money because she earned it, but she also should have been banned or at least a warning of some kind. It sounds more like she was being dumb and didn't look into the sponsor enough.
As an internet old, this feels like a dip back to the olden days of not trusting the internet for purchases (or really anything) because, well, who knows if it's legit? You don't know if a site links to a real store, and if they're honest, etc. I never lost that skepticism but i can't imagine how vulnerable younger minds are to this kind of pervasive scam.
Weirdly enough I had that same thought just a couple days ago lol. It kinda blew my mind how the general view of online shopping went from very skeptical to willingly handing over financial info to all of the things, seemingly overnight. I refused to buy anything online for many years. I'd like to think that skepticism has served me well for the most part, like I only buy direct from major retailers or well established websites with good protection policies (like Etsy and eBay). Although I did get my first fraudulent credit card application a few weeks ago so, my info still got out there somewhere. 😮💨
@@summerbummer1930 that's a pretty good track record! I haven't had many scrapes with credit card fraud but one of them almost certainly came from purchasing band merchandise from a site in the EU (I'm in the US). This was, however, over 15 years ago, and all other fraud problems I've had have come completely out of nowhere.
Great video and information! However I advise against buying things with a prepaid account (i.e. debit card). It is much easier to issue a chargeback through a credit card company. When a scammer steals money from a bank account, the bank can't refund you and will advise you to pursue legal action to get your money back. Stay safe out there!
💯 absolutely. I never give my debit if possible. Some banks/cards let you use a "card" they generate for your account just for online purchases for this reason. I also use PayPal wherever possible due to their protection policies. Saved my butt a couple times.
I feel like that depends on if it's a credit union I had chase and they were like 🤷🏻♀️ sucks but by credit union just refunded me and sent me a new card
It was 5 degrees (-5° with the wind chill factor) here in Seattle earlier in the week. I’ve lived here most of my life and it’s never been that cold! There were more cars in ditches than on I-5. We broke records with our temperatures. We usually have 4 mild seasons here. Not anymore. Summer is hot now, I’ve had to get AC. Now we have started getting snow every winter. We used to get snow once every couple of years. Hello climate change. Stay warm and safe. We are back to normal temperatures today but it seems the rest of the country is still freezing. 🥶
Damn!! I’m in coastal SC and it COLD here…. Lows in the 20s highs in the high 30s? And I will stop bitching about it. Like DAMN! I can’t wrap my head around temps like that… Y’all stay safe, dry and warm.❤❤
Right and allows tons of rando drop ship shops to sell on a site that is explicitly for handmade vintage etc things. It sucks cuz it was nice to have at least ONE marketplace where u could say ok i at least know everyone here is a real person making art on a small scale. Not for yearsssss has it been that way, big sad.
This! I am SO annoyed! I am usually so good in spotting things like this but I have just bought a ring from Etsy which had great reviews.. it said it was shipped from the UK (where I am) and a week later it’s still not here!! I looked at the seller and have come to the conclusion that it’s someone in china. How is this allowed!! How can they set their location as a completely different country and get away with it. Annoying! 😢
As someone who crochets as not only a hobby but as a way to help my ADHD brain focus on something - I do not suggest buying the crocheted amigurumi stuffies off of Temu/Shein/Aliexpress as cute as they are. Crochet cannot be replicated by machine, that’s why it’s a pretty lucrative hobby to get into if you know what you’re doing. That being said - I know how long it takes an advanced crocheter to make just one stuffie. I can’t imagine having to mass produce them for major parts of the world to buy. I truly feel for whoever is having to make them. They aren’t getting paid enough.
@@BasilissaKleo Hi! I haven’t personally went down the amigurumi path of crochet, only because I’m interested in making garments, but I do suggest SimplyDaisy here on UA-cam as a starter to your crochet journey!! There are a bunch of great creators here on the platform, who have made great videos on how to start! Happy crocheting!! 🧶
That one sounds like she doesn't own a single one of "The Tumbler"s legitimately, so she doesn't realize it's a counterfeit product. I bet anyone who wants to cash in on the trend ("making" the cups) would just buy any brand, strip them, find a legit looking template, and recolor the cup to sell to sellers like this (*note: this is my theory of what she fell for when buying her stock/'drop'). I bet if she actually owned one, she'd realize real quick that it's a phony after looking it over very closely for painting defects (like overspray) or other "manufacturing" errors.
I've bought one thing on TikTok shop that I hated. It was a hair product that stunk so bad. Everything else I ever see advertised is junk that is available cheaper elsewhere. Getting your payment info stolen is exactly why you shouldn't even try with the "too good to be true" listings.
yeah i got scammed off instagram from a too good to be true ad. it was this daft portable mini blender for like, £3. I should have known but it never came and set up a monthy direct debit of £25 a month. i wasnt in the best place financially but thankfully my bank refunded me and changed my card. awareness is so important!
FYI for the creator that got banned, it sounds like they got caught up in the crackdown on counterfeit items. I understand it came in a legit looking box but I noticed she said “a company” and not “Stanley” reached out to her to promote. Sucks but also highlights the importance of vetting and due diligence, especially for any business relationship.
yeah, i don't have any sympathy for people selling bootleg products "having their commission withheld" because you don't deserve that money since either 1) they're a scammer themselves 2) they're breaking the law, and all the money earned could now be taken by legal action from the company you're ripping off if your money was gained by selling bootlegs that money is only yours until you're found out and you have no claim to it
Thank you for this. I own a professional resume writing service and had been considering utilizing TikTok Shop. After your video, I'm going to hold off.
From what I can gather from the video, it seems like she thought she “won” a Stanley from another company and believed it to be a Stanley. Because otherwise it makes no sense to me for a full time (and from what we can see, successful) content creator to willingly promote a fake business and put her account in danger. I don’t think she knew she was getting a fake Stanley, perhaps she thought the company was sending her a legit Stanley as a gift. That’s what I thought she meant, anyway!!
Maybe I’m just super cynical, but I would not trust any other brand other than the verified original to send me a trendy product for promotion. I would inherently believe that it was counterfeit if Stanley itself was not contacting me, like I don’t even think I would believe if target sent me an email about promoting a Stanley. Also, Stanley did not need any more promotion, so why would they be then doing influencer marketing?
This hits home. I got scammed by a fake website in December. Got to close my credit card because of it. It sucks, because less and less people will be buying from small business owners online in fear of the websites being fake. 😕
Thank you for mentioning using a reloadable card or something to purchase with. I wanted to add "Understand what happens when your debit card gets stolen" because, in my experience (and experience of several friends), the banks are sloooooooow as hell to be returning your money. Sometimes it's days, sometimes it's weeks. And when rent and bills are due, it's a problem. But I do understand that not everyone wants or is able to get a credit card, and a great middle ground is a reloadable card (I'm not crazy about the fees on those, but then these a-holes can't get your rent and bill money!).
This unfortunately is also happening with Amazon and other big online shopping stores. There are a lot of drop shippers now because they want passive income. They don’t care who they scam
Yes! I deleted it after they sent me two moldy products that I buy just fine from the company itself, but the way Amazon stores that companies inventory isn’t proper. I sent it back to Amazon and they sent me back another moldy one like really? I’ll take a few extra days to receive good quality products no problem.
I am confused by the Stanley Cup one. That seller had no idea that only Stanley makes those cups. That one sounded like she got cheap cups to sell and saw $$$ so bought the cups knowing they had to be counterfeit?
I am in Michigan, and I can’t take this weather. It’s worse this year because it was 50 degrees a few days ago, and then suddenly drops to 12 degrees with windchills that are 20 below. I don’t use TikTok, and have no plans to ever purchase from it, but will watch every minute of you showing us why we should stay away. Stay warm Isabella♥️
Having a curly haired daughter the unbrush has an absolute chokehold on my fyp. I went ahead and bought it because I had money in my Apple Cash then found out afterwards I actually got the dupe. Only after I made my purchase did I start seeing ALL the many videos talking about “dupes” then I realized I had one. By this time the shop was long gone and i couldn’t do anything about it. I just took the L.
@@SMNC-mf4fb thank you cause the dupe was just okay not any better than other curly hair brushes I’ve bought. I’m just always looking for something for her hair. And I was wondering if it was worth actually getting the real one I’ve just been salty 😂
I agree. At first I was like “damn that sucks for her” but then I realized that the cup she was holding isn’t a Stanley branded cup. The only brand that could reach out to her is Stanley. She needs to specify that it’s a dupe of the cup not the real thing.
I really enjoyed TikTok until the shop hit. I felt like everyone and their mom was shoving ads down my throat. I completely deleted my account because it was so unpleasant to use after the shop came out.
I’ve only purchased two things on tiktok shop, a straw cover and wax melts. The straw cover was from a shop who had their own site, and the wax melts were from a person I had actually met before. And I’m actually gonna buy costume candles from them soon. But a good rule of thumb is to only buy from small business with hand made items. Try to make sure the business is on other sites and or has their own website. And make sure they have reviews on any of their items. I know some businesses prefer tiktok shop because the shipping is free for consumers. So that’s one perk. Just because I’ve had only good experiences doesn’t mean there aren’t any bad ones or that there can be sketchy listings. If it’s a person behind the product, and you don’t wanna buy through TT shop, you can always ask the person if there’s another way to purchase the product.
My daughter bought a few clothing items, a pocket book, candle & some lip glosses. She got us a couple hoodies on there. Everything was so cheap, I was like “that’s all you paid? Something for sure ain’t right” Zero complaints about any of the purchases, I was shocked.
I bought two suitcases from a TT shop early last year, on my partner's insistence. That was after extensive research - the TT shop showed that suitcases were of good quality, we looked in many shops and couldn't find anything close (in quality, look and light weight) online or in physical shops. I took precautions and used revolut temporary card (so the card details are only used for the single transaction and the overall bank details cannot be stolen) and... The suitcases showed up. They are lovely. We use them all the time. But since ordering them I couldn't open TT app - I thought for two weeks (before they got delivered) that I got scammed. And in the two weeks when the suitcases were in transit I actually realised I dislike the amount of time I spend on TT. So once the suitcases arrived and there wasn't any issue with them, I re-evaluated my relationship with TT and then deleted the app from my phone. I feel better for it (replaced TT with books, PC games, quiz apps, and crafts) and got two good-quality suitcases. Win for me. But I wouldn't recommend anybody to shop from there - I think I was massively lucky!
I say this with all the peace and love in the world, but people really need to put their common sense pants on before buying ANYTHING online. If you see a room sized rug for $2, what on this green Earth makes you think that is legit?? As far as TikTok shops, the best thing I ever did was filter those damn ads out, lol. I got sooooo tired of literally 4 out of every 5 videos on my FYP being an ad. A few still ad vids still squeak through, but it's removed a solid 97ish%.
@@funsizedi88 From your profile tab, hit the 3 horizontal lines at the top right. Select "settings and privacy". Select "content preferences". Select "Filter video keywords". Add keyword "#tiktokshop". Keep in mind...there are some #s or keywords that CAN'T be filtered, but this one works. :)
I'm not sure how purchasing necessarily works on tiktok shop as I have never used it myself, but if you're paying by entering your card information or something, use a credit card because those usually tend to have more buyer protection to them. If you don't get your item(s) file a charge back with your card company.
I’ve had pretty good luck on TikTok shop but I’ve only made about 4-5 purchases, and really look into listings/ buy from the original shop. It’s crazy a lot of people haven’t learned the proper way to online shop with how prevalent it is in our society
I agree! I have had some really good products I’ve gotten from tik tok shop. It all depends on what it is but most of what I’ve bought and received is pretty legit.
Maybe I’m hopelessly old school, but there’s no appeal to me in TikTok shop. It’s just way too much of an opportunity to get scammed. I’d rather just buy in person if I genuinely want the product.
Beloveds, when you shop online, you are gambling your money AND YOUR BANKING INFO! Possibly getting a rug for 2.85 is not worth having to fight a bunch of fraud charges on your card.
I recently discovered your videos and I've been bingeing. On TikTok shop I kept getting this goddamn stepper machine ad so I bought it after weeks of being hounded by people saying it's amazing...and it is. My point is your channel has made me more aware to scams and I made sure to check reviews, number of buys, other similar items and the brand itself before buying from that specific company...so thanks girl 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 I received the product and it's great so hopefully it was an ethical business bc I did not get scammed 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾
I work disputes for mastercard and you would not believe how many disputes i put in for people buying from this shop or a facebook ad and them not receiving their product or not as described. It's insane.
I remember when tiktok shop first started and I was able to get one of those super viral lip stain peel off thingies for 67 cents no shipping fee 💀 it came and I still use it today it’s a really pretty color but I dread to think of what chemicals might be in it lol
I bought some lip stains, 6 minis for like 4 bucks? And it arrived from Amazon with the receipt for 10$. I have no idea how it worked out but I am obsessed with these lip stains 😂😂 I also got the best mini vaccuum that I use in my car and for baby snack crumbs 😌 on the other hand, I got two horrible hotshot jumpsuit dupes😅
i thought we went through this with shein clearly selling knock off items of stolen designs. guess people still need to learn media and internet literacy.
I’ve purchased 3 items off TikTok and all were as promised. So I agree to do your due diligence because I stalked 😅 those items before purchasing. You can tell if it’s a scam or going to be a bad purchase by simply knowing what to look for and not impulsively buying. Take your time
I’ve always thought tiktokshop was weird and sketchy. I remember seeing something about tiktok putting sales on peoples shops. I’m not sure if tiktok reimburses the shops for the sales but either way I think that it’s really weird. I also read somewhere that someone bought something from an indie makeup brand (I don’t remember which one) and it was taking a really long time to ship with no response from customer service. This was through Instagram/the brands own website. However they saw that people ordered from the brand’s tiktokshop and got their order pretty quickly, because tiktok has more regulations about shipping times.
The old adage stands true. If it sounds too good to be true it is. People need to shop smarter. If the product is normally 40 and it’s listed for 3. It’s most likely not legitimate. TikTok is also full of drop shippers just like Amazon.
The only thing I have ever bought from TikTok was books because the authors themselves were selling them and they were signing them too. If I see someone selling something that they made I go to their Etsy shop or their personal website to purchase.
You mentioned a scam mic not being that bad, but any crappy electronics that don’t go through regulatory testing is a fire risk. Best not to buy electronics from any of these dodgy places
Girl, it’s cold everywhere it feels like lol I’m in Florida and it’s 56° right now. I know that don’t sound cold to most people but to us Floridians that is snow jacket weather lol
A lot of the Tiktok shop owners who had their accounts shut down and then didn't have access to their money is because they were committing copyright or trademark infringement. Not everyone, but a lot. I would look at the shops of the people who were complaining about their shops being shut down and I literally could not see a single shop that wasn't committing infringement. Selling something listed as a "onesie" is infringement. Selling something with a listing that includes the word "Velcro" is infringement. Tik Tok shop owners getting their shops shut down and the complaining they didn't understand copyright law will never not be fascinating to me. If you're going to try to be a business owner, it is your obligation to know the law. If you can't figure out selling a cup with a Grinch drawing is illegal, that's a you problem. I have bought from a shop I saw advertised on Tiktok but didn't buy it through Tiktok, I just went to their website. I Love Chamoy is so tasty and is sugar free chamoy, which as far as I know, is not available anywhere else.
I had a friend that got fake toilet paper off Amazon once… it was toilet paper, but it definitely was not Charmin 😂 at least it wasn’t gonna poison her
I am a small business owner and sell on tik tok shop. I personally only ever purchase from other small businesses as well ! I don’t buy anything influencers promote because I don’t trust the product hahah. Or the testimony honestly
if u cant help someone out thats completely fine u can just scroll...some ppl do need way more help n tik tok is def an amazing platform to reach others there have been plenty of ppl that r struggling like someone running away from abusive parents w/no help from anyone else or someone needing to feed their children... but i understand for the ppl that r lying abt it its rlly horrible that ppl take advantage of others
@@cherrypie38482 I’m taking about the ones that do it for a job not the real ones that need help! The ones that demand it on lives! Lol but thank for your input, I’m not cruel I help ppl! Just not the ones on TT that get on and yell at the stream that they don’t have rent bc they ate out all month 👌
I recognized this very early on when I saw the same video clips in like 4 different advertisements from different sellers. Its frustrating as hell because i feel like I cant trust anything when it comes to online shopping anymore.
Not just TikTok but a lot of online marketplaces r experiencing this.. sellers/ manufacturers in china or other US shady companies make counterfeit products and sell it for super cheap. This ruins the competition for legitimate business sellers. It’s a shame because TikTok shop had so much potential! I wanted to use it to promote my business but idk anymore ..
I’m In ky and the weather here is awful! We’ve got 5-6 inches of snow and ice under that! I’ve never bought from tik tock shop and now I’m so glad I’ve seen this!
I've only bought off tiktok shop twice. The first time I bought jewelry from a company I was already familiar with and had bought from their official website before so I trusted them. And the second time more recently with the African net sponge that's been going viral. The seller was actually promoting and selling an item 9f their own brand which is why I trusted them. Luckily both orders were smooth but I HATE the amount of scamming and nonsense i see every time I log in
We live in Florida and my husband is currently in Kansas for some training and he is literally freezing to death lol. He sent me a pic of the temp this morning and it was 3! I would die. God bless y'all
a lot of these products are alibaba, aliexpress, shein products put at a intriguing price bur shipping is like $15. Some of these creators don’t see that hey the same why you say you don’t trust shein or temu but the products on tt shop are literally just re labeled or re named. it’s still a product of questionable origin and with non fda approved chemicals.
Yeah, I don’t trust tik tok as far as I can throw it. I remember getting a perfume off Amazon, and since I had gotten the perfume before, I started pointing out how it was counterfeit. I even compared the bottles and certain marks on each one with my dad. Luckily, we got a refund, and I got a real bottle. Edit- I also feel the credit card part 🙃 I’ve had my credit card stolen twice (both times before I was going to a film festival) and both times the charges were coming out of Florida. I live in Colorado.
Not to mention they charge up the ass for shipping, that’s the real scam. Even if the companies are “legit” they will literally just profits off shipping costs. I keep getting ads for NOODLES everywhere on my fyp. And ik they upcharged it as well, it’s ridiculous.
When something blows up in popularity, the safe thing to do is stand back and WAIT. This whole situation is crazy and I am sad for all the creators and small businesses that have been negatively affected.
I really like your videos❤ all though my experience with tiktok is mainly cooking videos, like japanese street foods, science, mental health and anime, i appreciate you showing the other sides of tiktok❤
I just got on TikTok and the first thing it did was take me to the TikTok Shop page. Not to the search bar to find creators I like but to the Shop. I thought it was strange that the Shop page was being prioritized over the content.
Small town TN - were NOT okay. Our city is completely out of water. I filled my tub with snow so we can use the melted snow to flush our toilets... not sure when we will get water back, expected to be a few days at the least then we will have to boil all our water for a bit. I am over it!
I'd like to add another perspective that is on point with this conversation. Someone who use to be close to me built an Amazon shop (yes, this is related to TikTok) and they hired people from Pakistan to build and run their store claiming they will build it, run it, etc. and the way it works is they find "hot products that are in demand". They did this, and within 2 months, that person who I knew close enough to know what they said was true, said the people running her store were selling knock off products, and customers were receiving products that were not what they we advertised on the store. So, this is just another side I wanted to share because there are probably thousands of people doing the exact same thing she did and they may have got into it with the right intentions but the people running the store have malicious intent that overall screws over everyone, and then it's on to the next person to sc@m in someone.

i’ve had a good shipping/buying experience but everything is so nasty and low quality, like shein level or worse somehow, so i’ve never used it again
I'm the opposite of an impulsive buyer, I'll "like" an item, let it sit there for weeks and if I forget about it I don't buy it. 😬

I know that woman said she only bought it to see what she'd get but there were probably hundreds, if not thousands who bought it thinking they were getting a deal.
Depends. I do it for video games and the website is totally legit (and well known by gamers ^^).
Tiktok is just another example of it
Only good thing is niche like Pokémon creators
It was different in 2018 and 2019 it was fun back then it was like people posted for fun as jokes and not to make money now it’s just a mess
Girl we are literally the same!!
Same all i have is youtube and amazon. I don't want my kids getting into those other social media sites.
The fact that QVC is now doing lives on TikTok should be all that needs to be said of what TikTok has turned into!
OMG THEY ARE???? I gotta go look now
Did not know that whoa 😳
Three QVC videos showed up on my fyp earlier today.
Omg same pov!😂
Huh? QVC is a legit company and they’re just using the platform. What is your point?
8:42 I'm a Sephora employee and I'm well acquainted with Sol De Janeiro. IT DOESN'T COME IN A BOX. We receive them in cases or just loose in the shipment boxes, but the peoduct itself isn't packaged with a box. The cap and part of the bottle is sealed with a perforated plastic wrap. The bottle has a tapered rounded bottom and the top has embossing. I know that Sephora is expensive for a lot of people and little joys like a body mist is something that people treasure, so I feel so bad for those who got scammed
it's crazy that ✨coincidentally✨ when people give their credit card info to tiktok suddenly they get their money stolen, that sounds like a class action lawsuit waiting to happen
yes bc they keep trying to take $2 from me !!! i haven't purchased shit
I would expect that from an app founded and still owned by major business groups in a communist country, that it is actively banned in.
Giving up TikTok was one of the best things I’ve done.
Same, I don’t miss it at all
After watching this, I’m glad I never got on it.
@@ArmySoldiersLady It was nice for a little while but it really messes with your attention span, among other things.
Me too
REAL!! i deleted the app almost 2 years ago and it helped sooo much
It goes back to the age old saying, “if it seems too good to be true, it probably is”. If you see something trending and expensive that’s listed on a random shop online for a heavily discounted price, it’s likely inauthentic or a flat out scam.
Exactly
I actually saw a controversy lately about a creator giving a course and then deleting all the bad reviews (even if it was 3 stars)
That's because they're so easily swayed influenced and quick to believe everything that they see online!!! Young minds think young mindedly
Credit unions can. I use debit and my CU has always had my back. I always get my money back.
@@cleverhandle420 That's great for you! I also bank with a CU and that has not been my experience.
currently snowed/iced in at home, bored out my mind! So to tell you I RAN here. RAN! 😍
same lmao!! my car is literally stuck in snow in my driveway so were snowed in together
Like DAMN! I can’t wrap my head around temps like that…
Y’all stay safe, dry and warm.❤❤
So they are now acting like Etsy, who also steals money from small shops and closes them too for no reason.
Totally agree! As a grandma who crocheted a blanket for my grandson for Christmas, they have no idea of the time involved.
Oh, I have anxiety and I would love to learn to do animals in crochet! Do you have any good ressources please? I'm sure it would help me to relax ^^.
as someone who lives in the Eu (italy) and doesnt have access to tiktok shop at all its so fascinating hearing all of this
She either doesnt understand copyright or doesnt understand fraud; they cant pay you for promoting booteg items; theyd be compicit in your crime
That’s why I don’t mess with TikTok shop! Have you seen some of them ppl selling stuff! Nah I’ll pay full price!
FYI for the creator that got banned, it sounds like they got caught up in the crackdown on counterfeit items. I understand it came in a legit looking box but I noticed she said “a company” and not “Stanley” reached out to her to promote.
Sucks but also highlights the importance of vetting and due diligence, especially for any business relationship.
yeah, i don't have any sympathy for people selling bootleg products "having their commission withheld" because you don't deserve that money since either
1) they're a scammer themselves
2) they're breaking the law, and all the money earned could now be taken by legal action from the company you're ripping off
if your money was gained by selling bootlegs that money is only yours until you're found out and you have no claim to it
Thank you for this. I own a professional resume writing service and had been considering utilizing TikTok Shop. After your video, I'm going to hold off.
If you don't mind me asking, what platforms are you currently using to advertise your brand?
Can you tell me the name of your brand, if you don't mind? I might benefit from something like that right now.
18:30 she got a counterfeit stanley. she knew the company she was getting the cup from wasn’t actually stanley
“I live in Kansas”
*me, who lives in kansas* “no, she doesn’t. No way. No one lives in Kansas” 😂
Why would ppl shop on tik tok?😂 really? We’re just giving out credit card information to anyone or any app these days?🤔🤦🏻♀️😂
So sorry about the weather. I lived in Kansas for a year and couldn’t get over how much colder it felt with the constant wind.
Personally, this is why I don't use any platforms to sell other than my own website. I don't trust any of this BS, especially TikTok
That girl promoting that “Stanley cup” sounded stupid, she didn’t realize Stanley is a fucking brand? This is the problem with the world
It is a little confusing. At 18:04 " A brand reached out to me.."
No one but Stanley can have a Stanley copyrighted cup....
This woman making per month what I make in 4 and she thought a company wanting her to promote "their line of Stanley cups" was legit🙄 Just how?
@@fbiagentfrank having lots of money is no indicator of intelligence :p
I agree. At first I was like “damn that sucks for her” but then I realized that the cup she was holding isn’t a Stanley branded cup. The only brand that could reach out to her is Stanley. She needs to specify that it’s a dupe of the cup not the real thing.
There’s like 8000 of those at Tj maxx and none are Stanley. It’s so sad that brands are dying to be Stanley 😂😂
I really enjoyed TikTok until the shop hit. I felt like everyone and their mom was shoving ads down my throat. I completely deleted my account because it was so unpleasant to use after the shop came out.
10:30 "What do you mean closed, are y'all closed on Saturdays?" 🤣🤣🤣
Hilarious 💀
Something for sure ain’t right”
Zero complaints about any of the purchases, I was shocked.
as a bit of a gullible person with stuff like this i think your channel is gona help me a lot. glad i found you!
If you buy a rug that’s $2 and you’re surprised that it’s a scam…. That’s on you
I say this with all the peace and love in the world, but people really need to put their common sense pants on before buying ANYTHING online.
How do I do that?! That would be so helpful.
Honestly TikTok is unsafe so I’m glad you are covering these things
Your filming space looks great, and you are glowing!! Hope you’re doing well, girlie, you’re an icon ❤
I'm not sure how purchasing necessarily works on tiktok shop as I have never used it myself, but if you're paying by entering your card information or something, use a credit card because those usually tend to have more buyer protection to them. If you don't get your item(s) file a charge back with your card company.
“5¢ and a corn chip” 😂😂😂
And omg, I’ve never known anyone from Kansas
I’ve had pretty good luck on TikTok shop but I’ve only made about 4-5 purchases, and really look into listings/ buy from the original shop. It’s crazy a lot of people haven’t learned the proper way to online shop with how prevalent it is in our society
I agree! I have had some really good products I’ve gotten from tik tok shop. It all depends on what it is but most of what I’ve bought and received is pretty legit.
My daughter has purchased a few things:
Pocketbook/candles/2 one piece bodysuits/candles/hoodies/lip plumpers.
All a hit….luckily!
Maybe I’m hopelessly old school, but there’s no appeal to me in TikTok shop. It’s just way too much of an opportunity to get scammed. I’d rather just buy in person if I genuinely want the product.
I'm shocked that in 2024 ppl still don't understand if it's too good to be true it is
Beloveds, when you shop online, you are gambling your money AND YOUR BANKING INFO!

Girllll. Kansas here also. I’m so over this weather!!!
The old adage stands true. If it sounds too good to be true it is. People need to shop smarter. If the product is normally 40 and it’s listed for 3. It’s most likely not legitimate. TikTok is also full of drop shippers just like Amazon.

I still don't understand why people are so gullible. Isn't TikTok shop just Alibaba?
This is a thing on every social media app. Definitely do your due diligence.
Thank you for sharing about the dangers of Tiktok shop.
a lot of these products are alibaba, aliexpress, shein products put at a intriguing price bur shipping is like $15.
11:32 They sent an empty package. The audacity.
I just got on TikTok and the first thing it did was take me to the TikTok Shop page. Not to the search bar to find creators I like but to the Shop. I thought it was strange that the Shop page was being prioritized over the content.
'Five cents and a corn chip' really got me. 😂
Small town TN - were NOT okay. Our city is completely out of water. I filled my tub with snow so we can use the melted snow to flush our toilets... not sure when we will get water back, expected to be a few days at the least then we will have to boil all our water for a bit. I am over it!
queen your eyes look so big with this makeup. gorgeous xx
