Im defintely going to get into this type of flying, for anyone else who is thinking about it I’d suggest looking into the Hummel ultra cruiser, it follows ultralight guidelines but still feels like an airplane
I crashed one of those 25 years ago. The superior design and engineering of that design - simplicity, lightweight, easy to control - saved my life because it did not break apart on impact. I crashed into treetops. I had an engine off situation. Couldn't make a field, so my flight manual crash procedures flashed through my head. Saved my life.
If you are in the USA then I have no idea what you mean "WITH ONLY A DRIVERS LICENSE" 1- If its an ultralight a 5 year old can fly it, legally 2- If its an LSA then you need a pilots license from the FAA and IF you have never had your medical revoked THEN all you need is a license INSTEAD of a medical in order to get the pilots license.
The 2 seater Revolt is NOT an ultralight! It is EXPERIMENTAL! Ultralights only have 1 seat and must be under 254 pounds dry weight. That means that only the Rev (RevX is experimental, too) is an ultralight according to the FAA (Part 103 of FAA regulations). No license is required for the Rev. Any of the other ones shown require either a Solo, Experimental, Light Sport, or Private Pilot. Anything above Private Pilot, and you must go through additional certification for weight shift control as these are different then regular aircraft.
These trikes (whether part 103 or SLSA) are outrageously priced. Why own one of these when you can get better performance from a fixed-wing at half the price.
@@flightdoctordre7429To build yourself from scratch and purchase new?...gonna be tough but there are tons of peoples stalled kit plane projects that sell in the 15-20k range that are not too far from being completed that could be done for 30k or less assuming you chose the powerplant wisely (not a lycoming, conti, etc.) and the avionics were simple...now way I would pay 30k plus for a trike like this....30k would buy plenty of used certified aircraft too.
Man I love the ultralight and they have a bunch of seaplanes too that are part 103 one of my favorite kits is for the chipper it is an ultralight cub omfg its beautiful
Well done video again Mike. They're only a couple of people on here that really set the standards. You are one of them and the other is a female which I forget her name but she does a real good job. Not to dish the others out there because I know there's a lot of work to put these out. For the money you would want this particular type of aircraft because there are much less expensive ways to get airborne with the airplane including your pilot's license if you can get a medical or LSA without a medical for the price of one of these. But again these are a specific type of aircraft and they do look like they would be a blast to fly although I lean toward the two place with a little more solid structure. Let us know how your sling is coming. Really looking forward to seeing the completed paint job!
For those prices you may as well get your private pilot licence and buy a nice used actual aircraft. 65k is a bit much for an aircraft with an air cooled engine and a tubed frame around it carried buy a single wing.
I drive a 400 hp 30 year old F350 with bald tires. If end up with an ultralight (part 103) it will probably come from barn stormers in a box and it will get powered by a skidoo born 100 hp rotax freshly rebuilt for 300 bucks. Nice looking planes though. While they are out of my reach, as long as someone can reach them, it's all good in my book.
Licences are basically just documents saying that one knows what one is doing. Getting training, and using good judgment are far more important than said document.
Drivers license is referring to medical cert the FAA will allow someone to fly under light sport rules without the FAA medical approval they use the drivers license instead. You still need 20 hours of duel instruction, ground school, solo, check ride all that stuff. Ultralight called part 103 requires nothing very limited aircraft can't weigh more then 254 lbs only fly them over unpopulated areas with 5 gallons of gas. It's highly recommended to get flight training until your instructor says your good enough to solo. Many people love ultralights if you live in a rural area lot of fun. Aerolite 103 brand new around 20k isn't bad cruse around at 45-50 mph up to 18k feet.
Ridiculous prices. Who in their right mind would pay $63,000 for an ultralight? I know the inventor of Ultra-Lights. John Moody. He lived in rural southern Wisconsin then moved to Bradenton Florida. He'd fly them to our soccer games and land on the field. That was a long time ago but I think his top model was about $12,000 (dual seater) with kits including everything starting about $3,000. Even inflation adjusted just take those prices x 250%. What a ripoff these "ultralights" are.
In truth all with the exception of the single seat YELLOW REV trike are LSA Light Sport Aircraft and require a Pilots license to fly in the US........ A quick clue is the Number of seats you see........... An Aircraft with one seat usually defines it for you as an FAA defined ULTRALITE aircraft though their are other requirements for this category...
Any way you add it up, powered flying is expensive. And don't save $ skimping on quality instruction, those savings can/will be life threatening. Personally, if I was starting out wanting to fly a flex wing, I'd go straight to hang gliding. Beginner wing, harness, chute, helmet, instrument in good shape used probably still findable for $4K, all new maybe $7-8K. Everything you do will translate to being a much better fixed wing pilot, whatever you choose later. But that's just me, ex-HG/sailplane/SEL pilot.
ppl cost most countrys minimum about 5000-7500$ not more. and old cessna can buy usa 4000-20 000$ ready to fly condition million used cessna or piper cherokee etc. idiot waste money wannabe not true plane ultralight because same money can made real ppl licence and good better airplane. why waste money than idiot ultralight if need airplane ??? 1seat ultralight, take off and fly near airport ,thats all. stupid job. but buy cesna 4 seat take all family and go fly holiday trip to somewere ,mexico, kanada, new york, washington etc. and big summertime trip to europe have possiple but ultralight not have, only fly little time near local airport thats all. idiot buy ultralight because same money true can do lot better and more fly and travel plane.
22,000 dollars for a pipe frame with wheels, electronics, and an engine. google is very unhelpful in telling me whether or not the glider is a separate purchase. so 22 grand, what am i actually paying for?
What kind of 152 or 150 can you get for 10k because the ppl is going to cost you around 10k? What’s the mission? Having fun?? With GPS there are no real pilots anymore and I’ll challenge anyone to fly with just charts & plates!
Im defintely going to get into this type of flying, for anyone else who is thinking about it I’d suggest looking into the Hummel ultra cruiser, it follows ultralight guidelines but still feels like an airplane
My first Ultralight cost me $4200.00 as a kit, all built and ready to fly was around $4500.00 back in 1981, those were the days!
Do one on a Challenger II. I think those are some of the coolest ultralights out there,

I love your videos where there is an aircraft actually flying. Thanks.
If one is frugal and willing to buy used parts, one can build an ultralight like a Quicksilver 2 axis for about 6k.
Way too expensive for an ultralight. It doesn't help that it has a $45,000 engine. Nope nope nope...

I’m curious to hear what NEW fixed wing you can get for less..Need to compare apples to apples.

$45000 that isn’t too expensive

I would love one of these!
I'm interested in the nano electric trikes. They're small enough to put in the back seat of your car. Basically just a battery powered hang glider.
How can I buy it?

Yes, you have to get in one to experience the unique feeling. I fly a Navajo
Does the evolution Trike Rev come with a GPS system standard or can you order one as a option from evolution Trike ?
Unfortunately in south florida we have to spend more money with the hangar to store the ultralight than with the ultralight itself...
These fold in as little as 6 minutes and can be stored in a trailer.
I have to buy please reply 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
How do you call this aircraft?
Please do more videos on the revolt!! That is a awesome looking machine!
Only one ultralight in the list
Like the RevoX! Informative video!
Sir. How much cost is this
Love this channel!
While you're at KZPH, you should check out the Silverlight Aviation AR-1 Gyros that are built on the field. Excellent machines...I just picked one up.
They are built inside a hanger, not on the field. Why lie?
Where do I buy one I would really like to have one
Have you thought about the Quicksilver Aircraft? I've seen some that go as low as $10,000
Here in France you can find at 4500 euros.
hopefully i can get a job in tully and get one of these
Great stuff little brother.
Saludos Ustedes pueden publicar los planos... Gracias
hi.how many RMP. RHP????
Nice but I'll stick to my PPG for less than 10k
Are you allowed to that in all state or no
Federal rules
Aerolite 103!
WOW... flying with only a driver's license sounds wreckless! Very cool machines though.

no you cannot..sorry but no..

What parts routinely fall off the engines on these when your flying ?
Per litre fuel price

The Revolt starts at 70k now. Damn expensive
how It's flight range and it’s life span
Even for the Rev..22 000 not cheap.
Quro um como faz linda maquina
Might as well save that money for your real pilot license pilot 👨✈️
Cheaper to buy a used aircraft. No? I agree you need a private pilots license. But that's a good thing to shoot for.
