- This is the first video from our Rarotonga, Cook Island series! The Cook Islands is one of the world's smallest countries. This gem in the South Pacific is popular with Kiwi and Aussie travellers and with good reason- it's tropical, easy to get around and fish is in abundance! We spend 10 days on the island exploring the local food and the best eats to hit up when you visit. From the nation's iconic dish- ika mata (raw fish salad) to real fruit ice creams using local fruit like soursop and passionfruit to the best cafes and cheap eats on the island. Stay tuned for some epic Cook Island food!
What we ate and where we ate it:
1. Bite Time Cafe, Punanga Nui Market. Open Monday 8:30am to 4pm and Tuesday to Friday 8:30am to 9pm. Ika Mata $, Mahi Mahi with chips and salad $25
2. We just found out that as of 29 May 2024 the Mooring Fish Cafe has closed!
3. Wigmore's Superstore, P6P5+CPH, Ara Tapu, Takitumu District, Cook Islands. Open 24 hours. Real fruit ice creams $6

Check out Niue, the Japanese Restaurant there was voted number 17 in the world a few years back,our Raw fish isn't as convoluted as the Raro version,just Fish,limes and Spring Onions. I know you will love Uga(Fresh Coconut Crab,and Takihi, thin layers of Taro and Pawpaw,covered in freshly grated Coconut cream, semi sweet savoury dish.

Sheena that raw fish looks amazing..but the prices ar quite pricey..even though it's fresh fish...however the 1 thing that really stands out is Zade she is gorgeous when she eats..the way she looks at the food..and she looks like her daddy..so cute ❤😊 luving your content.

Is the fish raw cooked before adding the coconut cream?
It’s cooked in the acid of the lime juice before the coconut cream is added so the flesh firms up a bit and becomes opaque. Quite delicious! Thanks for watching! Cheers, Sheena
