Good job! That 5 cylinder design looks trippy. I kinda blinked a couple times thinking i was seeing an extra cylinder. I was here thinking it was a 2.5 I4 cylinder. Lol

Excellent how-to. What is the reason you changed the valve cover and not the gasket & pcv valve with a pcv kit? What is the quality difference between a Genuine VW valve cover and an aftermarket one? Thanks...

I've seen in another video where the air intake top cover is taken off. Mine is still on, is there a reason to remove the top cover?

Awesome job Bryan. I had to do that last week because oil was seeping in contaminating the map sensor. I replaced the hose as well and cleaned the inside of the intake. By the way Bryan what setting did u have it in when u ran those T30 bolts back on the valve cover.

Jason Chavez I leave it on the full power settings. And use the variable trigger to slowly run the fasteners in.

Hi, I am having some trouble. I needed to install the front piece of my air intake duct. Is there a specific way you install it? The engine hose that connects to the front duct will not hold and keeps popping off.
Does the order in which you connect the parts matter (I.e putting the hose on first then screwing the front duct into the front of the car? )
    Hopefully that makes sense.
Also, what type of screws are needed to hold the engine hose on the duct?

Should we use gasket glue? Where can I find diagram to bolt down 16 screws? Great video. Is there one for rear main seal on 2011 jetta 2.5?

dd dd The PCV is one of the effects for burning oil. There is the possibility of Val stem seals and rings. But worth a try.

just squeeze the little tabs and get it off? i can’t see the tabs and i just cracked it trying to get it off. i wish you spent an extra 10 seconds explaining how to get the secondary air injection valve apart.

Brian Molyvade even if you do it perfect there’s still a chance that connector will crack. Sorry your it’s giving you a hard time.

If the diaphragm was the problem, you can buy the diaphragm by itself. Diaphragm $16 vs $200+ for the cover...

White smoke is usually caused by water. It's actually a water vapor. Check for coolant leaks.

This is the more affordable fix and I recommend doing that first, but it might not fix your probably and it could come back. My code still popped up and I’m almost betting it’s the cover that needs to be fixed.I’ve read enough forums to know that it’s 50/50. The pvc diaphragm replacement works for some and for others the Pcv cover works.

The whole thing is 16 dollars and the diaphragm doesn't always work

Original Code P0106. I changed the the DORMAN 917-064 kit and failed to close the pcv valve and got P0106, P2187, P030X and misfire. Found the valve cape was not seating tight enough on top three tabs (Slack movement when I press cap top cover). Thought bad parts and bought the same kit from other place and installed, but the slack was still there and lasted for two days and failed same way. Check all tabs on top, but tabs were not broken. I installed a small pressure clip (temporary) near top tab to press and hold the dorman pcv cover in. And that worked. I was able to open oil fill cap in idle "quick open close" (test to see PCV is working at idle). Now I have to move on to replace the valve cover because kit failed and original PCV cover parts were trashed on day one (Keep your old part). In short, the Dorman 917-064 kit is not an universal fit (May be Dorman should include a pressure clip). Now where can I get the good, reliable and economical valve cover and who is the dependable supplier? Please guide if you have an experienced similar issue before.
