Hi sir I loved your amazing classes and way of teaching. It helps allot me where I can weak my levels. You are a my favourite teacher. Thanking you sir.
Hello Sir, I'm confused about last one Oliver is owed $500 by Andrew. I have recognised it as present passive. But what does sentence mean? And what could be the synonym of 'owed' here?
You are correct that it is a present simple tense sentence in the passive voice. Compare: 1. "Andrew owes Oliver $500." - active 2. "Oliver is owed $500 by Andrew." - passive Both sentences mean the same thing: Andrew has to pay $500 to Oliver.
Which of this 3 verb should i use if i'm andrew to thank oliver, is this correct? " oliver thanks for borrowing me money" or, " oliver thanks for owing me money" Or " Oliver thanks for lending me money"
@@LearnEnglishLab just bit doubt to use lend, if the money is not quite big is it appropiate to use it the "lend" , still? For example i'v borrowed 20$ then give appreciate by thanking the borrower.
You're correct, Ghaliya. I said it by force of habit. It's redundant (meaning it's repetitive) and it's poor style to say 'repay back.' The proper expression is either just 'repay' or 'pay back.' Good catch :)
Mr ganesh I have comment on the last equation what comes after is thank you.And my second fever that I am going to ask you is That can you say something on present perfect tense I Thank you very much.
How would we use OWE in negative and interrogative sentences and in all tenses. Andrew didn't owe $500 to Oliver. Is this sentence correct please reply
To use the past perfect, you need two past actions (and you use 'had' to indicate the first action). Ex: "Oliver and Andrew got into a fight because Oliver had lent Andrew $500, and Andrew refused to pay it back." (notice _lent_ not -lend- after 'had'). See this lesson on other common mistakes: *50 Most Common MISTAKES* in English: goo.gl/n8BJ7v :)
Hi Ganesh great vídeo as always. I have a question. The same words can be used for objects? Lets say that I am at school and i forgot my pencil and need one. Is It the same situation for borrow and lend? Thks.
is owed?.. is it correct use is.. wen verb is in the past?.. it should be was owed..ryt? pls. correct my confusion..😁 thanks teacher Ganesh!.. i enjoying learning with ur topics.

Hi? teacher. I have little confusion for the lecture. e.g I owed you 500,)" You owed me $500=) Is the second person who has lent money or both are correct. give more details plz
Hi Nuur, it's easy if you think of it this way: 'owe' means 'have to pay'. So "I owe you $500" means "I have to pay you $500." (which means you gave me $500). "You owe me $500." means "You have to pay me $500." (which means I gave you $500) :)
KareemNewby when some one borrows $500 from you and they didn’t pay you (they owe you that $500) means they have to pay you the $500 they borrow from you but if they already paid you then they don’t owe you money.. if you say “owed” it means the money has already been paid.
i couldn't understand the fact that had is the past tense of have... so we should be saying oliver had lent andrew dollar 500 but why are u saying has?could someone explain it to me
The Borrower owes money to the lender The lender is owed by the borrower who is owed ? lender who owes ? Borrower A bill which says you are owed $ 200 and you owe us $900 (pay 900 and receive 200) am I right ?
Here why owes? I feel It shouldn't be..and it shoud be only owe because we are not using any third person noun As he, she, and it in sentence no.3.. correct me if I am wrong...
_Owed_ is correct but not because the noun is uncountable. It's because the preposition is _to._ We say: B lends money _to_ A (or) B lends A money A borrows money _from_ B A owes money _to_ B (or) A owes B money In this sentence, _owe_ seems correct, but grammatically you can also say "Unfortunately, he _lent_ a lot of money to the bank." - it means he gave money to the bank, but this is usually not what happens in real life :)

Thanks for this video sir... One small doubt. Andrew has owed $500 to Oliver. Is it correct sir
No, that's not correct. If he has not paid the money back, then the condition (owe) is still true. So you should say "Andrew owes Oliver $500." :)
I got it sir. Thank you.
Hi Ganesh great vídeo as always. I have a question. The same words can be used for objects? Lets say that I am at school and i forgot my pencil and need one. Is It the same situation for borrow and lend? Thks.
Hi Wilson, I'm not sure I understand the question. Can you give me some example sentences?
Ok, lets say that I am in a meeting and forgot my pencil, can I say "Can you borrow me a pencil?"?
No, but you can say "Can you lend me your pencil? or "Can I borrow your pencil for a moment?" - this second sentence is slightly more natural :)
is owed?.. is it correct use is.. wen verb is in the past?.. it should be was owed..ryt? pls. correct my confusion..😁 thanks teacher Ganesh!.. i enjoying learning with ur topics.
The sentence in the video has to do with the present and not the past. In a past tense sentence, you would use "was owed".
U are special one i like u!!!!
Tnx sir

Lend(kharz dena)...please lend me 200rs
lent(kharza diya)..i lent you 200rs
Borrow(kharz lena)..i borrow 200rs from suresh
borrowed(kharza liya tha)...
Owe(kharz dena baqi)..i owe you
Owed(kharz dena baqi tha)
But owe is used in apology/favour etc also
Owe word hindi me aise use aata hai
Mai ramesh ko 500 dena baqi hun
I owe ramesh 500rs
Bills me kabhi aisa likha hota hai
You owe 100
You owed us 500
Iska matlab hai ki shop wala 100 dena tha aur tumne ab 500 ka bill kiya hai ab tum srf 400 pay karna hai
I understood like this....please clear me if i wrongly understood these words

My two cents : 😀
You gave me less money than you ought to have given to me. So many people find it difficult to frame a question like that..
Sir, I have a couple of questions
Sir, are you Indian?
Please reply..
Hi?
So OWED means already paid and OWE means have to pay?
KareemNewby when some one borrows $500 from you and they didn’t pay you (they owe you that $500) means they have to pay you the $500 they borrow from you but if they already paid you then they don’t owe you money.. if you say “owed” it means the money has already been paid.
good
i couldn't understand the fact that had is the past tense of have... so we should be saying oliver had lent andrew dollar 500 but why are u saying has?could someone explain it to me

Whether it is Oiver is owed or Oliver was owed
If he's still owed, then 'is owed'; if he has been paid back, then 'was owed' :)
Thank you, sir
The Borrower owes money to the lender
The lender is owed by the borrower
who is owed ? lender
who owes ? Borrower

Yes, you're right :)
Absolutely right..Are you a native speaker ?

Here why owes? I feel It shouldn't be..and it shoud be only owe because we are not using any third person noun As he, she, and it in sentence no.3.. correct me if I am wrong...
Andrew is a third person noun, equivalent to "He."
We say I/You/We/They + owe
He/She/It + owes

Hello Dear!.
I've been borrowing your Smart brain ". Could I lend you some money instead of...?
Thank you very much is not a really enough for you!".
Ho Ganesh,
Can we say " Andrew has owed $500 from oliver"
No, that is wrong. Either "Andrew has borrowed $500 from Oliver" or "Andrew owes Oliver $500" :)
Sir..by Andrew From Andrew which is correct ?
Unfortunately, he ______ a lot of money to the bank
(A) Owed
(B) borrowed
(C) deposited
(D) lent
Sir ,Can u tell me the answer of this .
What would be your guess and why?
Learn English Lab Here "a lot of money" states uncountable noun so answer will be owed I think ?
_Owed_ is correct but not because the noun is uncountable. It's because the preposition is _to._ We say:
B lends money _to_ A (or) B lends A money
A borrows money _from_ B
A owes money _to_ B (or) A owes B money
In this sentence, _owe_ seems correct, but grammatically you can also say "Unfortunately, he _lent_ a lot of money to the bank." - it means he gave money to the bank, but this is usually not what happens in real life :)
Learn English Lab okay thank you sir
sry it would be u speaks or talks so nicely
