You are always in/on my dreams... or She is in/on the phone.. etc.. Can you let me know how to use in/on when I have to use it with verbs? Thanks. You are a great teacher.

    • @LearnEnglishLab
      @LearnEnglishLab  7 років тому +2

      Glad to hear you found the lesson useful, Myriam. The correct forms are 'in my dreams' and 'on the phone'. Unfortunately, there are no general rules for these because there is no real reason for them. For example, we say 'in + dream/movie/newspaper' but 'on + phone/TV/radio' etc. Why? No reason! They have just become habits for English speakers. So this means you have to learn these through experience.

      You need to say _lie_ and not _lay._ Here, "I'm going to lie down _on the bed."_ sounds better. But we usually say _sleep in the bed._
