this was a surreal and amazing experience! I am so grateful to Dillon Forte and Kirk Nilsen for picking me for this opportunity to get my dream tattoo with them
Ive wanted a flower of life tattoo for 10+ years now. I'm happy to hear people are specializing in sacred geometry tattoos now. Maybe I didn't look hard enough but 10 years ago, when I looked i couldn't find anybody specializing in it.
Sacred Geometry is a budding new religion. It's roots go back to ancient Mesopotamia and ancient Egypt. The likes of Euclid and Pythagoras continued this esoteric knowledge. It was all but forgotten during the Roman era and Dark Ages. The Renaissance revived it through Da Vinci and Fibonacci, inspiring scientist like Newton. Now, like Tesla, the revival is much stronger and information is more widespread.
It’s definitely become trendy but I feel like people are less likely to cringe at them in a few years. I can see maybe mandalas becoming a little played out but I feel like things are going to continue to develop in that direction. Portraits in a geometric style with emphasis on open space and symmetry and shapes combining abstractly to create readable images. It’s just a new style
These tattoos take precision like they said one small mistake can ruin the entire piece. I don't know if it's a trend as much as it is just new.....once skilled artists demonstrated the possibility of the style others took notice. I don't think there are too many people out there getting these tattoos because they want to fit in and be trendy I think that it's because they find them beautiful. These tattoos are a tedious task that require confidence and know how. I'd like to see the style blended with other tattoo styles such as traditional or hyper realism.
Joseph Brown I’ll *try* to remember to come back here in ~six months to post some of the work I’m receiving. I’ve been working on a whole mural and it’s finally starting to come together. It will be blending realism (not hyper, but oil paint realism effect) with torus, shipibo, mandala work. It’s been 2.5 years already; so far I have a large raven and raven scull, a serpent, and just laid down another phase (this past Monday) of line work for the upper back, shoulders, and neck for the shipibo (aya, DMT, consciousness) and torus field... really happy with how it’s all coming together.
You can’t see the hips-lower back tats here, and this is just the line work and place holding for this phase, but here’s what’s in the process currently: instagram.com/p/B0Q-LkhDULn/?igshid=1eyh967fb9u5g
Awesome video, loads of passion and heart, have a huge internal pull towards geometric tattoo's but unsure on where i should begin for my first one ? Any help would be da best
TomasTomas in the UK is one of the best. Definitely be prepared to spend decent money, as geometric tattoos are very unforgiving. Bear in mind even the best tattoo will blur as you age, dotwork (instead of all linework) or larger designs have a better chance. If you want something a bit more widely available (although still find a decent artist) try mendhi or simpler mandala style, not geometric but similar style. Search Instagram and Pinterest for tattoos you like, either track down those artists or find an artist who does geometric or intricate black work or dotwork tattoos who you trust or are recommended, and ask them to be honest with you about whether they can create the tattoo you want. Good luck!
I see what your saying but tribal is still very popular in its Polynesian culture, sure one could say it blew up in the 90’s but a lot of things did because of how many shit is shared globally now. Just like tribal, geometric has been and will be around forever
Circle isn't the"essence" of all the geometric shapes, it's more like an outsider ... I would say the rectangle is the most replicated and is often a composite of many shapes... Just a thought!
@NATURAL STEROID USER why does everyone keep saying that, of course it's been around for centuries, but it definitely a "trend" to go get it tattooed on you 'right now'.
Anyone knwos what kind of machine he is using at 4:09? I know it's Rotary machine but i have never seen one like that, if you know they name or brand please share
Fuddy-duddy here: I cannot think of any type of image or language that I would want irreversibly inked anywhere on my body. I do like how open so many tattooed people are about chatting about the meanings they feel or the experience of it. Very cool, that way. Needless to say perhaps, but this is merely my perspective. It is not a commentary on what others should do or feel.
@@LibsRockU considering it was with and for my sister, yes. We all age and grow into sun spots, wrinkles, balding heads. I'm fine with some of my skin being faded ink. I think the aging is what makes it valuable and good for me. And no other "hipsters" running amok with anything similar helps too 😅
@@LibsRockU also it helps to stick the image up on a mirror and look at it for a long* time. I tweaked and redid parts of it for over a year before I was ok with it, and left it up every day so I would know I wasn't going through a phase 😅 still like it after a year and a half, so I got it
kinda, after they put all that work in, they remove it from existence. so in a sense you are right, but it seems people are relating it to mathematics and visual satisfaction. imo.
Laila A mandala isn’t suppose to last forever, it is made and then erased. Idk why they do this but I think it’s more of a appreciate what u have because everything is fleeting sort of deal.
In this video, with that much detail in the spaces they’ve done them in - ill be surprised if any of them retain their shape and structure in ten years. So thus no more mandala :)
I guess it's an aesthetic shot and you could argue it relates to the shit the other buddy was talking about how everything in life has geometer, even that unique horn has its counterpart, just like our hands.
I will be amazed if one of these iPad artist wont rely on their stencil machine and if they can freehand a wrap around full sleeve sacred geometric thingy.
People cant even draw a perfect circle do you really think you can tattoo one on a nonflat body?
5 років тому+1
Why would you want to make it harder if you don't have to? You want the tattoo to come out as perfect as possible so you give it the best chance by making it as easy as possible to get a perfect stencil.
this is really cool! I wouldn't get a tattoo like this, but i have nothing against the people who get it..except that they may regret it, but again, that's their choice.
you're artists not history majors, these shapes just have personal meanings to you. hell naw tho, not everyone saw these fkn sacred geometry b.s the same, i'd die if anyone actually accepted the ether lmao. sacred geometry is sacred to yourself.
Not very impressive in any way. Check Tomas Tomas, Xed Le Head, Gerhard Wiesbeck, Jondix and other older guys who were among the very very first people to do this style of tattoos. Everything I saw in this video was completely soul-less and superficial.
Joakim exactly my thoughts, the way they talk is like if they were the pioneers of this style but their work as far I could see is not that impressive, I don't mean that in a bad way because I acknowledge artists evolve and they learn with time and practice, they just don't start being great but as you said, I felt their work lacks substance and they should be more humble.
The reason why it is not a trend is because the definition and lifespan of the word "trend" is limited. A trend therefore is not timeless. On the flip side, geometry is an element found in all aspects of life as mentioned in the video and has influenced and will influence the way we perceive the world forever. Therefore geometric tattoos are not a trend, merely because they have existed in ancient civilizations for years before they surfaced into mass media. Just because more people are finding out about them and discovering more regarding this form of art does not mean it's a trend.

This is definitely the new tribal. Give it another ten years
Funny thing is, "tribal" is Polynesian, which has a huge cultural significance to Polynesians. I don't understand how it became a trend?

Ok so if someone wants it right now, you just automatically de-value their want and love for this style?
I agree it's the trend now. Like the tribal tattoo in the 2000s.
Beautiful tattoos. Pretentious as hell artists (except the French girl).
TheOneCleanHippy how dare you? Geometry is the ESSENCE of ALL life...

I think it's called a sacred tattoo machine
It's a direct drive rotary
tattoos are beautiful and think all that tattoos are beautiful
Thanks for video..Thumb UP
I love it 😀 I want to get some.
surprised they didn't mention polynesian style tattoos
Jon Jon Giang well they don’t know shit about it, so they probably shouldn’t.
There’s a whole separate video on that
They don't want to piss off the Polynesians, plus half of these hippies don't know jack shit.

Geometric, nice to look at. The most hipster of the tattoos.
Watercolor
Geometric was always there and will be.
i agree. and those artist are relying mostly in their app.
So cool! I would like to get a geometric tattoo that is designed as a Celtic knot.
This is what I've been wanting for a year. I just want to find someone that is good which I haven't where I live... ugh
Funny how people forget that shows like this are DIRECTED. These people are most likely being pushed to talk about things in a certain way.
And that would mean they agreed to utter pretentious bullshit in front of the camera. Doesn't make any difference at all.

I do like just about anything that facilitates talking & LISTENING, & it's all the better when it's comfortable & safe for both people!
I drew my own tattoos because of this. I wanted my own self on myself. You know it's original and personal
@@mydogisoscarthegrouch Good for you. If you please, do you honestly think/feel you will be fine with that image in say, 20-30-40 years?

from a Buddhist's perspective... doesn't tattooing a mandala defeat the purpose of the mandala?

Patterns of growth of horns and other external body parts tend to follow phi. Most notably in the ridges produced.
