This was the Spyro i grew up with. Not the 90s original, but this darker version, this darker iteration. Soundtrack is fantastic and memorable. I get the original is great, but sometimes the Legend of Spyro gets overshadowed by its predecessor everyone loves.
NO FUCKING WAY. I GREW UP ABSOLUTELY LOVING THE TLOS SERIES AND ITS WHAT GOT ME SUPER INTO VIDEO GAME MUSIC??? please listen to the cynder convexity final boss theme, it goes HARD. this is amazing to see a creator i love exploring something that literally shaped my childhood.
This piece really sets the tone for the entire trilogy. It makes sense that you feel that its the coming of a savior especially with the way the game starts like a Moses story. Spyro as an egg is floating in a nest down a river after being rescued from a temple raid and comes to rest at a river bank where Sparx's family raises him. Spyro being a rare purple dragon with the ability to wield several elements to bring back peace to the realm I'm so happy that this music has resonated with you the way that it has and there is more fantastic music to come.
The music in that game somehow flipped a switch in my brain from not knowing why people listened to music on its own to actively seeking it out myself. Ipods had just become a thing and I had no idea why they were so popular, at the time I just thought of music as something that accompanied visual media or a drive in the car. This was the first music track I wished I could take with me somewhere instead of having to put the PS2 disk in and sit on the main menu. Of course it was never released as an album to my knowledge so until clips were uploaded to youtube it just had to play in my head over and over haha. It's hard to imagine my life without music now, I'm very glad for happening to play this series all those years ago.
YES!!!! This trilogy are my favourite pieces of spyro media, i got this game back in it's release year when my father got my a ps2 and this came with it, ever since i've been in love with the story, the world and the characters, i wish they'd do a remake of the of the old games because there's so much beauty here!
"Coming of a savior" sure is quite fitting way to put it. A dragon who doesn't know he's a dragon (and a very special one too!) becomes a big hero over the course of the game trilogy. The beginning of this piece feels like it's portraying Spyro's birth and the quiet, lovely times he's experiencing... Until one day it all changes and he finds himself fighting for the sake of the world to fulfill his destiny. And then the end is what was the outcome of his journey, the ending of the third game "Dawn of the Dragon". Rather simple, but very beautiful melody. Gives me the chills every time I hear it.
Thank you for covering The legend of Spyro series soundtrack. I grew up playing the original games, but i loved the the legend series so much more for story and music. To this day ever since i was a kid, when i listen to this theme, i get the feeling of flying in the sky. I also feel like im back in my childhood bedroom/living room playing the game.
The Legend of Spyros were underrated severely both as what they were and what they could have been. They have the usual flaws of rushed and budgeted games, but they managed to create a stunning experience in spite of them. The music is a huge part of the reason why. This was an excellent analysis. Glad I found this.
Rebbeca Knuebuhl and Gabriel Mann made the awesome soundtrack to the Spyro Trilogy with a LA Calf church choir. It's so relaxing I still listen to it often to calm my nerves even after all these years. Lots of good Game soundtracks but this is near the very best! Thanks for the review.
I'm so glad you did more legend series music, it's not the conventional Spyro we know from the first 3 games but it's a reboot which sees him grow up and honestly I love the legend series better than the originals. It has a better feel to it and a pretty nice fighting system. I think you might enjoy it
Get genuinely excited seeing this pop up in my recommended, the OST from The Legend of Spyro games are definitely amongst my all time favourite soundtracks to date, and seeing people's reaction to it is always a pleasant experience.
This trilogy of games is such an unsung, well, legend! The music especially was PHENOMENAL, this theme still brings me to tears to listen to it for its sheer beauty and emotion. I think the absolute biggest failure of Activision, despite all the failures they've had in recent years, is not continuing to build on the Legend series to capitalize on its immense potential.
I love the new Spyro music, I said it before on the Crystal Caverns video but he new Spyro Trilogy soundtrack has songs that remind me of Lux Aurumque by Eric or maybe even Northern Lights by I think his name was Ola Jeilo(?). I’ve always loved singing pieces that focus on those warm bright chords that just fill a concert hall to the brim with beautiful sound. Either that or spirituals like Unclouded Day or Until I Found the Lord which is ironic to me considering I’m not Christian. I’m rambling, thanks for sharing this music with us. Brings me back to days when I was in a chorus.
This piece of music is easily one of my favorites of all time. It is extremely emotional for me and its great to hear others discover it as well. Some of my others favorites from the trilogy are (and some that i think you might find interesting) Grove Action (The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night) Black Powers (Eternal Night) Burned Lands (The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon)
People will always talk about the original trilogy. (Especially now that there's a remaster of the trilogy) But the new trilogy, while less talked about, were hidden gems of games. The first of "The Legend of Spyro" still contained some childish themes. Then it became something more.
a new beginning was the only Spyro game I've played, too bad it doesn't feel as popular as the original trilogy and its remaster i love your analyses btw, it helps me understand songs better and i end up enjoying songs more than i did before, i also try to analyze by myself and look up online if it's correct, it's really interesting
Makes me so damn nostalgic. It plays during the journey of Spyro's egg as it floats in a river toward its new home. And yes, it also plays when Spyro flies through the clouds for the first time.
Glorious, just yesterday or so I was thinking of going back to one of the previous videos to (re)recommend some of the TLOS music, most of all This Broken Soul and Guide You Home. Now im curious if those are already on the Backlog.
It's just a game of my childhood. Just a magical universe in which I could sit for hours even just for the sake of music. So I loved this universe. And Unfortunately, this game is connected with a sad event for me. I went through it with my grandfather. It was the Two thousandth year. We bought the third part. And then Grandpa was suddenly taken to the hospital in the morning. A blood clot broke off and he died in his sleep. I couldn't touch the game for a month then. I didn't even open the disk. But and after...I put a photo frame of my grandfather next to me and finally passed the game, telling him how cool and cool it is here. And then there were new games about Spyro. And after even the re-release of the game on ps4. I was happy as a child. And this is the same game....which I will gladly give my children to try. And I'll tell them about Grandpa.....with whom we were playing games together at that time.
The entire legend of spyro series were part of my childhood. Hearing this again makes me wish I could experience it all again. I approached these games as a kid that had no expectations at all, no want for it to be incredibly amazing.despite knowing the series could have been much more it was still an amazing part of my childhood. Start to finish it was a masterpiece in my eyes and to this day still is despite its flaws. This song brings back the good memories of these games. And hopefully one day they get their own remaster or remake.
God, you reviewed one of my favourite pieces of music of all time, and you hit the nail on everything, how Spyro will be the hero and sacrifice so much to change and save the world. Both the original (PS1) and Legend of Spyro has the greatest pieces of music I’ve ever heard for all different reasons.
Absolutely love this series so much I just gave birth to a little girl I can’t wait to show her the beautiful soundtrack of the legend of Spyro series. Thank you for these videos
I was drawn to this game series as soon as I saw the purple egg floating by the river and this music played. I have never before, and never since, experienced the same kind of blissful melancholic feeling that it gave me. It's such a simple composition, switching between tonic and minor 3rd. The minor 3rd's notes match the tonic's if the latter were in Lydian (raised 4th) - which is well-known for its dreamy and uplifting quality. During the tonic, the natural 4th isn't played, so it may well be in Lydian (or at least implied as such). Everyone experiences music differently. and the experience is affected by the time and place in life they encounter it. I experienced this song (and the scene) at a quiet, solitary time, when looking for meaning of it all. It created this deep yearning for some kind of higher fulfillment. Not success, wisdom, or love... Something even more abstract or spiritual than that. It's hard to describe properly, but the closest approximation is like a need to shed tears - or to even stand cliff and scream into the distance for no-one to hear. To somehow release pent-up emotions, I suppose?
I kind of feel like this is a game trilogy that would deserve some attention only because of how different it is in comparison to it's original work. It isn't the best by any means, but it has a lot to it that is worth giving it and the soundtrack at least some time to explore it since it really wasn't given the fairest shot since the whole "new thing must be bad" idea. I really enjoy the games but I know they aren't great games but they're at least decent and can be pretty in some ways like the music and the art style is kind of neat. (also the games aren't particularly long which is a good thing)
Well this is a suprise. I know these games arnt great, they tried to turn cute little spyro into big traditional epic, but man I love them. I played the hell out of them when i was younger. And they have some really supriseingly good music. And this theme with its choir is honestly nostalgic for me. Would be kinda co if you did the main theme for the trilogy since its 3 games in a big story arc. And you definitely nailed the theme for this one. The short version is ya world is kinda in the shit, and Spyro is the "chosen one" to bring hope back to the world you're actually looking at his egg on a river bank while this plays right before starting the game.
The Legend of Spyro games ran from 2005 to 2010 if I recall correctly. It was a trilogy that took Spyro for a more mature route, yet still meant for a younger audience friendly type of tone. It wasn't particularly loved by fans of the original games, but it still carries a very loyal following as the story it told was surprisingly well done, especially the first and third games in the trilogy. The Main theme of New Beginning is to this Spyro trilogy that "Binary Sunset" is to Star Wars. It really drives home a "a new hope is awakened" type of feeling. It even returns in the third game of the trilogy, the level it returns in is like Spyro's return from a (spoiler) Three year hiatus after being essentially frozen in time. Hearing it play at hat point in the third installment was very much a feeling of "He's back" Ultimately to me, this spyro mean more to me than the original spyro, as this spyro is the one that introduced me to his franchise, as well as being like the first or second game I EVER played. It was essentially my intro to gaming alongside Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy.
If you like this one, I would highly recommend looking into some tracks in The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon. My personal favorites would be "Dragon City," "Burned Lands," and "Floating Islands" but there are so many amazing tracks in that game to choose from
The main theme track has a couple of variations that appear in the trilogy. What he says about imagining the sun breaking through the clouds and the savior coming into view is very apt since a slightly different arrangement of this is used in the "Temple to Freezer" flying segment.
Welp i thought that the man's voice in the choir could be interpreted as the "past" Spyro. The song began with the new, the renewal, and in the middle of the song the "past" Spyro came to remind where he's from, and at the end of the song the man, "past" Spyro, and woman, "new" Spyro, where chanting together, as if the "new" Spyro was in harmony with the "past" :) That's just my personal interpretation, never played this game and never heard this song before ^^" Thx for letting me discover this one Marco, loved it !!
I first heard this theme during my first playthrough of this trilogy. I had heard about Spyro before but I had never played a single of his games before that point. And yet despite experiencing this game for the first time as a teenager, this theme and a lot of this trilogy's other tracks somehow invoked such a strong feeling of nostalgia in me when I first heard it. Quite curious
Is it just me in all honesty do people start crying when they hear music? It could be man in the mirror or this? There something about it that even since I first joined my school choir I always tear up?
This is more than I ever could've wanted omg!! Funny enough these games are fairly 'old' (They're not super old but this particular game came out in 2006) Since then there's been 2 other games in this particular trilogy as well as other games such as Skylanders (Which you won't find as meaningful music-wise at least in my opinion.) There's also Spyro Reignited trilogy which revamps the original Spyro the Dragon soundtracks! However nothing takes the cake when it comes to The Legend of Spyro series; I listen to it's soundtrack especially when drawing. I hope maybe in the future we can have a little mashup of the fun goofy side of Spyro like the original game with serious tones like in TLOS.
This song feels like something different to me- a very deep melancholy, like I’m missing someone but have to go on nonetheless. Maybe it’s Spyro knowing he’s among the last of the dragons…
Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky, Seven for the dwarf-lords in their halls of stone, Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die, One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne, In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie. One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
Popped up in my recommended and I cant tell you how happy this makes me to not only have this game featured recently but the music spoken so highly You should check out the other tracks in the series: Cynders Lair - Action has more latin singing Dragon Temple - pure classic singing elements Malefor stage 1 - latin boss battle music Much love from a massive Spyro fan 💜💛
Speaking of 'choruses you don't hear every day', and one that coincidentally also happens to be associated with a dragon, I can highly recommend 'Aurene, Dragon Full of Light' from Guild Wars 2. The chorus there is something else, and has stuck with me.
I would love to see you do a video on "The Fire is Gone", ULTRAKILL's title theme. While its not a very long piece, I think that it invokes a very strong emotion of melancholic acceptance of fate. Good video as always :3
Let me tell you a "little" story about this little dragon, if you read it i hope you will enjoy it Year 2002, I was 7 years old and one day in the summer my younger brother's godmother came to bring him a Playstation 1 as a birthday present and with him the game Spyro 2: Gateway to Glimmer, before that day I had little to no experience with Video Games so by the way this Spyro was also my first Video Game, the amount I loved it is not described,, the bright colors, the music, the characters (I had a great weakness for dragons and in the dinosaurs (and I still have )) the very big worlds that were revealed in front of me with the possibility of exploration, i can't get enough of this, although there was a 2 small problems, first we did not have a Memory Card so when I closed it I always had to start the whole game from the beginning, and secondly my mother would not let me play for more than 1 hour (except sometimes during the holidays she could let me play for 2 hours) so I would never finish it (because of it have learned everything about the first 3 worlds) Unfortunately over time the CD suffered so much that he is no longer able to play the game (I still have keep it as a souvenir of my childhood and as a thank you for everything he offered me) Now 2007, now in High School my brother and I buy a Plastation 2 (due to the release of the Playstation 3 their prices had dropped enough so we could buy it). And one day my brother's godmother (for Easter if I remember correctly) visited us to bring his gift, BUT she did not stop there, on a previous visit I told her that the previous Spyro was unfortunately broken, and I asked her if she can bring us again, she told me that she does not know if she can or if even find it again but she would try, and she kept her word, on this visit she approached me and told me that unfortunately she could not find it but instead brought me a title that was released recently (note that he was working in an electronics department store at the time) and was none other than The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning, my joy is truly indescribable, I played it almost every day (thankfully this time we had Memory Card ) but even so it did not stop me from finishing it countless times. I am now 29 years old and I still love this game, only a pity that unfortunately after The Legend of Spyro the series took such a low turn as for me Skylanders destroyed that it managed to build The Legend of Spyro, now after the Spyro Reignited Trilogy I hope the series can be reborn in the right way (although after the acquisition of activision by Microsoft I can't say I feel very confident)
If your planning to roll through more of the TLOS soundtrack I totally recommend Celestial caves from Eternal night as it’s a majestic piece (also Well of Souls and Black Powers if you want some intense stuff)
yeeee. im leading him through the games and those two I will definitely request after he listens to mountain fortress. though im thinking about going straight to well of souls and black powers.
1998 - Spyro the Dragon 1999 - Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! 2000 - Spyro: Year of the Dragon 2001 - Spyro: Season of Ice 2002 - Spyro 2: Season of Flame & Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly 2003 - Spyro: Attack of the Rhynocs 2004 - Spyro Orange: The Cortex Conspiracy & Spyro: A Hero's Tail 2005 - Spyro: Shadow Legacy 2006 - The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning 2007 - The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night 2008 - The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon 2018 - Spyro Reignited Trilogy
I wish there at least was a spiritual successor to Legend of Spyro (if not a full remake akin to Final Fantasy 7 Remake). The series has so much potential and dragon games are basically nonexistent.
The first two Legend of Spyro games had repetitive gameplay imo so i couldn't really like them.that much. Dawn of the Dragon had amazing gameplay and is actually one of my favorites on the PS3/360. One thing i will say about the trilogy is the music was always amazing!
The Legend of Spyro trilogy are really need to be remake with a better gameplay and better graphics, because the development of this game is really rushed and the game deserves some love after all 💙 !
Would this be considered opera music? I really like this style of music in this game, Lord of the Rings, etc. but I can’t find it outside of entertainment media.
@@MarcoMeatball Thank you! Would you also happen to know if it’s a specific genre of choral music? If I just look up choral music it’s only the voices with no instruments.

Trust me, even as a fan that played the originals first, the legend of Spyro has the best storyline and I like the 3rd game especially
The Spyro games were a huge part of my childhood, thank you for covering this!
same bro they are amazing, I emulate the fuck out of them
Same 😊❤

@@danielr5817 Yes that so great to know! That song is absolutely insane!

When the brass comes in after the little rest and then the voices, it's just so powerful. Gives me chills every time I listen to it.
Ayo wait how this dude comment 10 days ago😂
I had forgotten just how beautiful the music is in this game. I wish I still had them if only to listen to it again.
The official ost is on spotify

Old spyro was such a staple of my early childhood, but this game man, this was the game for me as a pre teen
Legend of Spyro music is so great at evoking emotions in its music. Reinforcing how important story are to these games,
The ost of these games, man , this is why i became that weird friend because i only have video game music with orchestra instead of pop music 🫠

It even returns in the third game of the trilogy, the level it returns in is like Spyro's return from a (spoiler)
Three year hiatus after being essentially frozen in time. Hearing it play at hat point in the third installment was very much a feeling of "He's back"
Ultimately to me, this spyro mean more to me than the original spyro, as this spyro is the one that introduced me to his franchise, as well as being like the first or second game I EVER played.
Quite curious
yessssssss this is what i love.
Is it just me in all honesty do people start crying when they hear music? It could be man in the mirror or this? There something about it that even since I first joined my school choir I always tear up?
You're definitely not the only one to cry because of a music, that's for sure!
I absolutely started crying
I just cried like a baby right now
I never played this game, but I got my eyes all teary
Im crying from the nostalgia
Ohh now I know why that song made me cry every time
Yes this voices is just... Perfect. 😭😭😭😭
This song feels like something different to me- a very deep melancholy, like I’m missing someone but have to go on nonetheless. Maybe it’s Spyro knowing he’s among the last of the dragons…
Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne,
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
The beginning of the song reminds me of the first Land Before Time too. So much feeling :')
Popped up in my recommended and I cant tell you how happy this makes me to not only have this game featured recently but the music spoken so highly
You should check out the other tracks in the series:
Cynders Lair - Action has more latin singing
Dragon Temple - pure classic singing elements
Malefor stage 1 - latin boss battle music
Much love from a massive Spyro fan 💜💛
Speaking of 'choruses you don't hear every day', and one that coincidentally also happens to be associated with a dragon, I can highly recommend 'Aurene, Dragon Full of Light' from Guild Wars 2. The chorus there is something else, and has stuck with me.
Heavenly music
I would love to see you do a video on "The Fire is Gone", ULTRAKILL's title theme. While its not a very long piece, I think that it invokes a very strong emotion of melancholic acceptance of fate. Good video as always :3
New? This came out in 2006. It's already 17 years old.
The "newer" rendition; Valley of Avalar, is also a great listen! I recommend it if ever the opportunity arises :)
Let me tell you a "little" story about this little dragon, if you read it i hope you will enjoy it
Year 2002, I was 7 years old and one day in the summer my younger brother's godmother came to bring him a Playstation 1 as a birthday present and with him the game Spyro 2: Gateway to Glimmer, before that day I had little to no experience with Video Games so by the way this Spyro was also my first Video Game, the amount I loved it is not described,, the bright colors, the music, the characters (I had a great weakness for dragons and in the dinosaurs (and I still have )) the very big worlds that were revealed in front of me with the possibility of exploration, i can't get enough of this, although there was a 2 small problems, first we did not have a Memory Card so when I closed it I always had to start the whole game from the beginning, and secondly my mother would not let me play for more than 1 hour (except sometimes during the holidays she could let me play for 2 hours) so I would never finish it (because of it have learned everything about the first 3 worlds)
Unfortunately over time the CD suffered so much that he is no longer able to play the game (I still have keep it as a souvenir of my childhood and as a thank you for everything he offered me)
Now 2007, now in High School my brother and I buy a Plastation 2 (due to the release of the Playstation 3 their prices had dropped enough so we could buy it).
Man I hope this trilogy would get remastered. Loved the legend series games of spyro wayy more then the original spyro games😩
Since your reacting to Spyro music maybe you could react to some Skylander music or the main theme of Skylanders?
Very beautiful track.
If your planning to roll through more of the TLOS soundtrack I totally recommend Celestial caves from Eternal night as it’s a majestic piece (also Well of Souls and Black Powers if you want some intense stuff)
Already done!
yeeee. im leading him through the games and those two I will definitely request after he listens to mountain fortress. though im thinking about going straight to well of souls and black powers.

2008 - The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon
2018 - Spyro Reignited Trilogy
I wish there at least was a spiritual successor to Legend of Spyro (if not a full remake akin to Final Fantasy 7 Remake).
The series has so much potential and dragon games are basically nonexistent.
The game had its flaws but the soundtrack and atmosphere was just perfect
The legend of spyro the eternal night 💀
The first two Legend of Spyro games had repetitive gameplay imo so i couldn't really like them.that much. Dawn of the Dragon had amazing gameplay and is actually one of my favorites on the PS3/360. One thing i will say about the trilogy is the music was always amazing!
Nice.
Didn t tgere was a new spyro game eitger. Knew they went trilogy remake like crash bandicoot tho
you should listen to the song "lindsey stirling take flight "
The Legend of Spyro trilogy are really need to be remake with a better gameplay and better graphics, because the development of this game is really rushed and the game deserves some love after all 💙 !
Would this be considered opera music? I really like this style of music in this game, Lord of the Rings, etc. but I can’t find it outside of entertainment media.
this is more choral than anything else. Opera is very specific.
@@MarcoMeatball Thank you! Would you also happen to know if it’s a specific genre of choral music? If I just look up choral music it’s only the voices with no instruments.
you should listen to The Last Parkour from Dying light 2. Or any of the songs from that game cause they all go really hard
3 "new" spyro games.
a new beginning was from 2006 nearly 17 years ago.
Day 1 of wanting the Meat man to react to Owari no Seraph - Calamity.
Please listen to "Wildfire" from honkai star rail, its beautiful and i think you'll enjoy reacting to it
Hello
Hi, please react to: Baten Kaitos Origins Le Ali Del Principio, one of favorites themes in any videogame.
kinda funny
