- Directed by Nicholas Meyer, This is a wonderful fantasy movie, which sees Malcolm McDowell's H.G. Wells pursue David Warner's Jack the Ripper from Victorian London through time to modern day San Francisco. The movie is greatly enhanced by the music score by veteran Hollywood composer Dr. Miklos Rozsa.

Unmistakably, Rosza from the first chords. Even at this late stage of his career, he was composing wonderful scores.
The love theme is among his best and most evocative music.
Listen how skillfully he incorporates one of Canteloube's, 'Chants d'Auvergne, namely, 'L'aio de rotso' into the score.
Genius.
Miklos Rozsa gave the movie a romantic, out-of-time dimension that was just right for the story of H.G. Wells visiting the future in pursuit of Jack the Ripper and falling in love with a modern American woman.
1979 I was ten years old .And this movie blew me away as did the score especially the great chase . Nicholas Myers rocks.
I loved this film. It was my favorite Sci Fi movie of the 70s. Yes I know what I'm saying. Wonderful direction, great script, wonderful classic Hollywood music and a great performance by three often underated actors.
This is some of my all time favorite music. "Redwoods" is so incredibly beautiful it brings tears to my eyes. One of the most emotional pieces of music ever written.
Totally agree Hal,''Redwoods'', is an incredibly beautiful love theme, as are all of Rozsa's love themes.
Loved this movie and soundtrack. Thanks for the memories.Need to see this again.Dr.Rozsa was indeed a genius when it came to soundtracks.
The Warner Brothers fanfare in the beginning is a nice touch...
Absolutely loved this film since seeing it late-night on TV about 20 years ago. Beautiful music, inspired casting (Mick Jagger??), and, of course, you have to wait right until the end titles to read how it all ties together. I bore the arse off people I know telling them how beautifully it's made.
Mick Jagger? :)
A Great Achievement by Miklos Rozsa! A truly magnificent film score!
A superb rendering of a very good movie.
Nice touch with the photo of Rozsa at the end!
Beautiful music.
Wonderful score and UA-cam arrangement. Thank you!
At 9:01 pure bliss!
I just bought the DVD on ebay, cannot wait to see this film
Wow great video Valdez and the music of Rozsa is really superb. Thank you very much for sharing quality video, I like it a lot!
Thanks Gaetan, glad you enjoyed it. :)
Love this score!
Once again nice editing Valdez244...This movie would've been second rate if it wasn't for the great soundtrack by Miklos... Saw this at The Loews Paradise Theatre, Bronx NY and about 20 times since,...TIMELESS CLASSIC!!!
Hello Valdez, I enjoyed this Theme music score from the Motion Picture - Time after Time. which I have not seen this movie as yet. I'm a big fan of movies dealing with Time Travel. I like The Time Machine or Time Tunnel TV series....etc. The Music Score is Superb ! by Miklos Rozsa. Thumbs Up ! Have a great Friday & Weekend coming up..Blessings, Marc Jones..Los Angeles,U.S.A. Vocalist-Pop/Jazz/American song book From Sydney-Au : )
Thank you for posting this, it's a rare gem! There is however a strange detail, HG's travel through time sequence, a very thrilling moment, is missing, I wonder why.
Rozsa, my all time favourite composer of the epic movies, "Ben Hur" has never been surpassed in my opinion. this score is typical Rozsa , excellent , there are passages in this which almost mirror the Ben Hur score. Again Valdez you have done a grand job with the visuals. great upload of a score new to me.
Thanks Mike, I love Rozsa's music, it's a pity that he only scored one western (''Tribute to a Bad Man'') in his long career.
He left all the western scores for Dimitri Tiomkin. Out.
¡¡¡ GOLD... GOLD.. GOLD !!! Great Miklós Rózsa !!!! And you Valdez!!!! Happy weekend for you !!!! XXXXXXXXXXxxxxxxxxxx
Thanks Montse, Rozsa was indeed one of the Great's xxx. :)
Wonderful
This along with Ben Hur is among Rozsa's best in my opinion. But in truth, I've listened to this one far more.
Great pick Val.
Thanks Scavenger, for me , ''El Cid'' is still my all time favorite by Rozsa.
@@Valdez244 Thief of Bagdad one of my all time favorites
I would love to have that watch
Another fine score by Miki. And another fine vid by Valdez.
`Thanks Jay, you just can't go wrong with a Rozsa score. :)
It's to bad the hacks in Hollywood led by Hans Zimmer can't wrote great music like this. It will never ever happen again. That's a shame. Out.
Spitzenfilm. Den habe ich seit 'zig Jahren auf Video. Muß ihn mir direkt jetzt mal wieder ansehen. Und eindeutig natürlich die musikalische Handschrift von Miklos Rozsa. Deutscher Titel: Flucht in die Zukunft.
Still one of my favorites and it gets better with each viewing, Miklos Rozsa's music is just pure class.
I'm Dedicating this to -
David Warner ''RIP''
Warner was GREAT as Jack The Ripper
" 。゚☆Terrific Movie.。゚。゚☆
Nice, but where's the car chase music? That's the best part.
Wasn't this used in the Warner Bros logo opening?
+Tylord Stevenson Yes it was.
Yes and I loved that opening
The Warner Brothers fanfare was composed by Max Steiner, but it was often woven into scores by other composers, as it was here.
2:06 mines a 99 please....
