Super fun song. Simple and great. The gospel/blues riffing is just enjoyable all around. Phish is fantastic. They can play loads of different genres, all within one single show. So, it can be a little divisive...
The album "Rift" is one of the tightest, mindblowingest albums ever. People don't give them enough credit for their studio stuff. I recommend "It's Ice"
Glad you enjoyed Julius. Just as a side: A lot of their albums, such as Hoist, are meant to be heard from start to finish. And of course, seeing the band live will blow you away. Hoist, Rift and Billy Breathes are three of Phish's greatest albums IMO but there is sooooo much to listen to. If you like what you heard here, I would recommend just taking a break and listening to this album in it's full length. You seem to appreciate all types of music, so I can guarantee it will not disappoint. Check out some of their live performances on UA-cam as well!
Phish is really a prog rock band disguised a jam band (especially with their older stuff). They were hugely influenced by Zappa, Yes as well as Talking Heads, Bowie, Velvet Underground, etc.
The song features backing vocals by Rose Stone, Jean McClain and the Rickey Grundy Chorale and horn instruments by the Tower of Power Horn Section. Go to a show and experience the bliss for yourself! It cannot be described.
This song is all about Julius Caesar. The Aquitani were a tribe in the Pyrenees. And Caesar was involved. Here's the link en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aquitani
"A Live One" is the album that put many new phans onto Phish back with its release in 1995. This is where I would suggest to start. Peace
Wow, this really took me back to my college years. Listened to a lot of Phish. Smoked a lot of... Good times! 😎😁
I would highly recommend seeing them live
Must watch their live stuff. That’s is what they are known for

Nothing like Phish :)
All genres, improv mixed in. Live is the way to go.

Next reaction should be Punch You In The Eye from 12/31/95
Welcome to the party!!

Best rabbit hole you or anybody can go down❤

If anyone recommends you live stuff don't do anything past 2001, no offense to the band.
Thanks!
