Yes Glenn is one of the few vocalists who sound the same live and on record. I was astonished when I did the sound for him once and the first thing he did was asked if he could have one of my Silk Cuts! I'd never have thought that someone with a voice like that smoked! So did Freddie Mercury! Personally, I know that when I stopped smoking my voice was better but I liked smoking more than singing so I started again!
I don't think most people realize what a fantastic guitarist Glenn tilbrook is. Just watch "another nail in my heart" among others. Of course let's no forget jools holland --amazing piano player. They all are amazing.
Thanks man. I did a quick Google search after posting and did see that. I love the fretless jazz bass he's playing and his tone. Very cool. I was fortunate to see Squeeze this summer on Cape Cod; fantastic show.
Two people have added a thumb down, are they deaf,or stupid? Difford and Tillbrook are one of our greatest song writing partnerships. As a guitarist I think Glenn is one of the most tasteful and skilful guitarists I know.
I personally think this is there best concert my ears have ever heard. love this version of pulling mussels. black coffee was a highlight as was if its love. Ive done some squeeze covers on my page, check them out. :-)
@Greenhornet204 Even though I edited that, it still has typos. Prince released the song 1999 in 1982. Squeeze released Footprints in 1987. Clearly, Glenn Tilbrook borrowed some of the melody. Relax, I love both artists!
You can almost feel that live atmosphere, that's how good a band Squeeze were....one of the greatest bands ever!!
Nobody’s gonna talk about Gilson Lavis killing that complex drum beat through the whole song?
Thank you for naming him, I've listened to Squeeze for decades, but yes this drummer has always been a favorite!
Brilliant band. Lucky enough to see them a few years ago in Camden Town. Glen T. is a massively underrated guitarist and singer.
Without doubt the finest Squeeze line up of them all. Got this on VHS when I was 16 and it blew me away. Awesome.....
What a clean voice and beautiful live performance

Awesome! Nice piano playing by Jools Holland!
the magic of a live performance is when the band just gets into that groove ... Squeeze does it every time
THAT HAS GOT TO BE ONE OF THE BEST VIDEOS I HAVE EVER SEEN. Just perfect.....ahhhh.
THAT FUCKING ROCKED!!!!
Superb musicianship all around!
This was a great concert!! Taped it on VHS!

You're welcome! Happy New Year to you, too.

Seems like the melody of Footprints (1997) was borrowed from Prince from 1999 (1982).
Not hardly

Saw that tour in feb 88
Gilson Lavis on drums, and how amazing is Glenn Tilbrook on lead guitar always? Quintessence.
