We finally WEANED our spring lambs ...and why it almost brought me to tears. | Vlog 696

- I guess one would call this closure? We finally weaned our spring 2023 lambs, and wouldn't you know it... they didn't look as bad as I had dreaded.
They loaded wonderfully, and they transitioned amazingly.
All things I never expected after what was perhaps my worst lambing session ever.
We are down to under a week before Jess has her first chemo appointment, and we are all a little on edge trying to get our to-do list whittled down so we can focus on her.
BUT we were able to line up hay for this coming weekend, which means I can finally show you our new toy!!
Yup, Mark bought me an early retirement gift... a new to us DISCBINE!!
...talk about marriage counselling 101.😉

I just wanted to say thank you. Because of you I was able to save our baby goat Bubblegum she had a upper hind leg fracture(complete break) and I was sure she was a gonner. The only help our Vet offered was to put her down. But I didn't give up I set the bone the best I could and splinted it and put her in a small area to limit her movement for 3 weeks and THE BONE KNIT TOGETHER ❤️ it's a MIRACLE. She still has a road to recovery don't get me wrong but she gets to live because of YOU ❤.
A miracle, of a shepherd/owner who didn't give up, and an UA-cam shepherd who has shared her hard-won knowledge, and showed that with caring and nursing a young animal can be saved.
@nerowolfga8543 I am just so happy I really thought we'd have to put her down. When I took the splint off to check on her progress and set her down the first thing she did was use that leg to scratch her ear. I have it splinted again now just to give the bone more time. But just to go from the leg completely dangling loose to an ear scratch ❤️
@@ZebraChanda That had to have been the absolute most adorable ear scratch you've ever seen in your life!! That's amazing! Yay 🤗 for determination and love!
@tabihawley6624 it was I was dreading taking the splint off because if it hadn't healed we were going to put her down like the vet suggested. But I cut it off and set her on the floor and immediately she itched that ear, it must have been driving her nuts lol.
Vets! Their simple solutions! 🤨 Did you let them know she's doing good?☺️
Please don't stress over us next week.
Jess might have some concerns quickly or even three days later..
Just roll with it and know we are with you❤

Right on. Family is First. What a wonderful community we've found ourselves in. Even if we run across some rotten apples from time to time!
Happy birthday Carissa🎉. Weaning day is very loud and I love the way Piper is trying to already herd the Sheep.
That's always a great video Sandy
Piper is growing so fast!!!
Sandi, you and your family never cease to amaze me. As I watch your videos, your Jane of all trades, wife, mother, famer, shepherdess, vlogger, mechanic, carpenter, plumber, etc., etc., etc.,
Prayers for Jess on here journey with chemo, you guys are a strong knit family and show compassion, empathy, and courage. We are here for support and prayers. Never be worried about showing emtions this is real life and real gets hard and it hurts sometimes, this is why we are mostly here your channel has inpacted so many people you should be very pround of yourself. 🙏🫂🙏🫂🙏🫂🐑🐏❤️
You helped me get more involved with our animals and take better care of them. I had issues with getting involved with them. The more time I spend with them, the more I care.
You helped me loose my fear of hurting them or doing something wrong.
You helped how many people just being you. So we would like to help support you. We will be pushing all our good thoughts and positive energy to Jess, her human family and her animal family.
Many years ago I spent 4 1/2 months watching my newborn son fight to live. He did not make it. I understand a little bit of what is happening in your lives. Just hang on and believe in her healing.
Piper is to cute playing with the sheep. It was so nice to see how worried Mark was with Piper when you were cleaning and backing up. He is such a good grandpa for the fur grand pup. Hope all goes well for y'all this weekend and ya get some time down to relax a little. Thanks for sharing with all of us. May our Lord keep blessing your whole family. ❤❤❤❤
They lost a dog before because he got under the tractor wheels in the yard. I am guessing that is part of his concern.
@@kiddedblissWhen did that happen?
@@Juleru several years ago. before Lucy.
Is it just me or does anyone else love seeing the Golden girls each video? Its for me at least the highlight of the videos :D
Sandi, I don't know if you ever see my comments, but you are AWESOME!! I admire your work ethic, tenacity, and competence. I know how much goes into farming, let alone raising livestock! Now, you are dealing with the worries of your lovely daughter's health as well, yet you keep on going!! God bless you all. Prayers for healing and peace.
Every time I see you moving your turd hill I think “waste not, want not”. I’m pretty impressed with how everything is used and very little is wasted.
My adult children had health issues as babies and into the toddler years. When I think back on those times, I still felt the stress, panic and over all worry that I had when it was going on. I think it’s completely normal to feel weepy and thinking about it. You are a strong mom, who has raised a strong daughter. Our prayers are with you.
Grampa Mark getting Piper out of the way of the little bulldozer 💕💕I have to say I've been happily surprised to see how savvy your dogs, including Piper, are about keeping away from moving equipment. Used to scare me 💕💕
Holy moley, that's a whole lotta lambs! All those multiple births! Good on ya! dealing with your daughter's cancer diagnosis & still keeping on keeping your woolly babies healthy!! 💕💕💕💕
Oh my! Jess's puppy is getting big.
Happy birthday Karissa!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KARISSA!!!!!Wishing you a wonderful day!!! 🎂🎉🎈
I knew there was something I liked about her. Happy birthday fellow Gemini. It's my birthday too on Friday.
@@Leah-fs7qq Happy Birthday 🎉
Happy Birthday!
Carissa, a very Happy Birthday to you! Love watching you work!! What an asset you are to the sheep-raising operation! 🎂
I have to wait until July 20th to share my birthday with Jess.
I've been watching from the beginning, and I need to mention something. I still learn and enjoy learning new things from every episode. My meager understanding and appreciation of agriculture in general has increased immensely with your explanations of processes and choices you and Mark make daily. I thought I had it tough engineering spacecraft and other simple things. Thank you all!
You are the best! I'm so glad I found you a year ago. Thank you. Thank you so very much. You saved me. You saved me from darkness when my light went out, you brought me yours. You saved me. Thank you. Keep doing what you do. You inspire, generate love, spark light, give hope, and genuinely spread joy and happiness. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.❤
Piper has me giggling every time I see her trying to "wrangle" a sheep, lol.
Piper off leash and trying to herd sheep 5x her size. So cute!
I was thinking that they might have a herding beagle on their hands! lol
Piper certainly found her courage, after being taunted by sheep in a previous video.
She is getting so big!
I think she wants to hunt them
Awww, love how happy Piper is with Gramma Sandi!! Just wants to be part of the pack! 💕💕Don't fence me in! 💕💕
Can't believe you're almost at a million subscribers! I've been here since the beginning, or at least around 20,000ish, and I'm so proud to see you achieving this huge accomplishment! You are loved! 💙
Lol, I love what you said about the universe sending rain whenever you cut hay, it’s so true!!!! We would joke with my grandpa that, if he needed rain for his other crops, all he needed to do was cut his hay because, WITHOUT FAIL, that ALWAYS brought rain. 😂
Awww. Piper wants to play with the sheep 😂
Watching you and Mark with Piper is such a cute preview of you as grandparents. Piper "helping" with the sheep is adorable, she doesn't know what's going on but she definitely wants to join the party.
Had to laugh at your mini sheepherder, Piper. She’s sooooooo cute. Poor moms were saying, “We smell our babies on you. Where are they?”
Where'd you hide them?? 💕💕
The pup is growing so much! ❤❤
Happy Birthday Carissa!🎂🎁🥳That is a very hard working young woman.
Every time I see a notification from your channel my heart skips a beat and I know instantly that no matter what kind of day I'm having, it just got better. Thank you for all of your hard work and thank you for sharing with us. Piper is getting so big!!
This is absolutely my favorite channel. I have learned so much about farming/ shepherding and just love the dedication that you both have. I honestly don’t know how you do it.
This was by far one of the more entertaining weaning day videos in quite awhile. Between the dogs and the sheep, I can’t decide whose antics were better. 😂😂😂😂
Sandi, to the Golden Girls: yoi dont need any grain, there's a grassy field!
Also Sandi: *feeds them grain*
I think she does feed grain on purpose. Go back to some of the videos when she first moved the golden girls over. They escaped and she used the grain to entice them back into the barn. vlog 608. 😁
After midnight, I'm bleary eyed and look a new just posted video ! I can stay awake just a little longer 😂, counting sheep to sleep & listening to them sing the song if their people 😁
THANK YOU SANDI. AS ANOTHER SUBSCRIBER SAID DON’T WORRY ABOUT US WITH JESS’S CHEMO FAST APPROACHING. AND EVEN THOUGH I WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU EVERYDAY YOUR GOING TO BE BUSY WITH JESS. ***MAYBE YOU COULD POP ON ONCE IN A WHILE TO LET US KNOW HOW SHE’S DOING, MAYBE A SHORTS? *** 🌷💚🙃
Omg Piper is the BEST non sheep dog EVER!
She learned when the lambs messed with her, now she gives it to the sheep. Cutest thing ever!!❤😂
Happy Birthday Carrisa, Hang in there Sandi. I watch Jess on her channel, she has so much of you and Mark in her, she has spirit, a wonderful heart, an old soul. She'll be ok. It's a roller-coaster ride you don't get off of for a while and it gets overwhelming but take it one day at a time, thats really all we can do. Some days are better than others, some days are awful, just remember, they'll be over and the healing can begin. Im keeping you ALL in my prayers, this is so hard, you all have a strong family, that's exactly what Jess needs, she may not always want you guys at times but thats ok, give her space but she needs you all and you all need each other. Don't hold you're feelings in, that doesn't help her healing process, you all will figure it out😊 i love you all. God bless!!
Don't worry about the BROCK FLOCK, we'll be here when you're ready. You take time with Jess. Family First!! ❤
Absolutely!
Beautifully said ❤
Hey, Sandi, that's quite a process moving all those sheep around! It's good you have Carissa for help. HAPPY BDAY CARISSA!! 🎈 I couldn't help but notice how Kinsey jumped over that fence to get to herding. I noticed Piper has got the herding concept, as well!! That was too funny watching him go after the sheep! 😄
Sorry about the rope & wheel fiasco. Glad Mark was able to fix it.
Stay blessed, Sandi. ✨
Much ❤️ from Michigan 🌊
I'm so glad Mark was able to get untangled. Calling in workers, then they don't clear their left overs away. I thought that was part of normal service. It was out of their way. They could have put it in the dumpster, grass grows & hides things, plus Canadian winter turbulence. I'm on a big learning curve on everyday life. I've been dizzy and non-functioning for years, and now I have shaking of hands and arms. I have the results of a radioactive scan showing Parkinson changes. I really have to clean up my act. The spring weather seems to be positive. Doing renos to prep for being seniors and perking up the decor. At least we have some money to work with & reliable workers we can hire. We always did the dyi, or wait til someday. The 3 kids lived with undone house chores& mom useless on the sofa. They had no idea how hard it was. I had good days and made suppers and birthdays. So, I am learning that if I touch it, I have to put it away. Hubby says, yeah! He leaves dishes out to dry instead of away! @%*&^! Life! Make lemonade! You are amazing workers and have learned the value of doing it now! Blessings to you all! Doing chemo is not easy, Jess. I was always looking to learn something or encourage others who just needed a positive angle. While waiting in line, waiting for a pick up, listening to grumpy people, inefficient peoples methods. Oh, your tongue will get soar from biting it somedays. Animals can't understand. People should understand!
Them mamas are like what did you do with our babies lol 😂😂 All the babies are looking good. Can't wait for new babies 🤩🤩
The hay looked beautiful. I love the smell of fresh cut hay.
I do too!! Love it! 😊
Wow Sandi, that is a lot of lambs, young and old. Good for business when they are ready for market. Good luck Jess, thinking of you.
Love from Mike. ❤
The weaning rodeo! Kinsie's flying leap over the gate was amazing 😂
I see Mark had to collect the child in order to keep her safe while Sandi cleared up the muck heap.
Happy birthday Carissa!
Every employer should be like you. People who are appreciated almost always go above and beyond. ❤️❤️
Sandi,
Please have that spot on your left hand, palm side below thumb, looked at by a dermatologist. I want the best for you and I'm worried with all that you are dealing with, you might neglect having it checked out.
Bump
Sandi, we just simply love you. It's an honor to walk with you and your precious family. Praying much and often.
Happy Birthday Carissa! 🎉 🧁
We called it silage in Ohio. We had 5 acres and the back 3 acres were either silage or baled hay for our local dairy farmer. We were one of many properties he did. Piper has really adapted to farm life. So darn cute! I’m so happy Jess has her for comfort. Prayers for her chemo coming along soon💕
This is so great that you’re almost at 1 Million Subscribers!! That’s how much people love and care for your family Sandi!! This is so wonderful!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😍😍😍😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰💖💖💖💖💖💖
Wow. Busy days. The barn with the opened up blinds looks so cheerful! It’s wonderful you can grow much of your own food for the sheep. That’s just smart! Positive thoughts for Jess’s treatment starting next week.
Continued love, hugs, and prayers for your family.
I found your channel a week ago and already love it so much. You care so deeply about what you do. Please dont worry about us. Your family is so much more important than any youtube channel.
What did one sheep say to there other. Mah, mah! Here they come with the gate, Mate! They are going to be pushing us around again! In, here! Out there! Kenzie is flying today. Showing off to the pup.
Sandi, hold on tight. You, Jess, and the family will get through this. Sending you positive energy and thoughts! ❤
Sandi, when ever you show something from New Holland. You make me smile. The reason being my father worked for New Holland for many years, and intermental in the round combine. Just seeing the New Holland, makes me smile. We lost him a good few years ago, but I remember the pride he held for his work. Thank you for my rememberence.
Suehsuk🇬🇧 ❤
That Kinzi jump at 5:58!!!!!! Happy birthday to Carissa: it’s my hubby’s birthday too! Your family is in my prayers. You got this!❤
Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers. My husband went through his lung cancer battle from February 5, 2022 until April 1, 2023. He passed with me and 4 of our 7 children around him.
I will keep you all in my prayers. Even though Jess is considered an adult, I know this will be harder on you Sandi. Make sure you take care of yourself also. I focused more on my husband's well being. Talk to someone and don't keep things bottled up, it will take it's toll on you too! Love to your entire family!!!!
Quite the excitement and Piper is very fascinated❤️. The golden girls are doing nicely . The angry moms are even sniffing you and wondering where those babies are. awww for you and them. I love their little faces, the babies that are quiet now.
Just love what you do for a living sandi as I never ever got a chance as when my mum was a live and when I first went on the disabled pension the money from the back payments my mum cond me out it was enough to buy a farm and some horses that was gentle and strong enough to train them for the disabled people who have trouble getting up in the saddle and I was going to breed them and I was going to lease the young filly’s to the riding for disabled till they was old enough to breed
So sorry, I had to give half my paycheck to my mom. Till I moved out. When I was a teen
Sandi you are so dedicated to your sheep ! You are a good farmer!
So funny how all the moms lined up talking to you.
They're all saying, "Where's my baby? I can smell it, but don't see it. I want my baby!!!"
Happy Birthday Karissa. Don't be shy. There's just a bazillion of us watching. Love ya!
Happy birthday to one of the best people, Karissa. She is a pleasure to watch.
Look at Piper trying to do the right thing (1:14) with that sheep! Love that!
Happy Birthday Karissa have a wonderful day 🎉🎉🎉 and wow Sandi almost a million subscribers I'm so happy for you well deserved glad Jess is doing better see ya in the next one❤❤❤
It’s great to see little piper out and about with the other dogs.
I absolutely love watching you and your family and especially your daughter jess,❤
Sandi try putting a hay rack on the side of your fence in where you put your weaned lambs it will make it easy and the lambs would not get out of there pens from the gaps and you will not waste the hay from when you have a broken pipes
Continued prayers for Jess! Thank you for sharing your journey with us. You are helping so many families facing similar ordeals. ❤❤❤
The equipment you need for your farm is unbelievable 👍👍wow ❤
That little pup is becoming a little sheep herder in the making. She definitely doesn’t put up with any nonsense from the sheep. 😂
Please wish Clarissa a happy birthday from Mississippi, USA. 🎉🎈🥳
Aww Sandi -- so amazing! This was a tough group and lambing was a long grind - good weights at the other end. Those older lambs are looking very good. Huge shout out to you and the lucky birthday girl Carissa! Your hard work is paying off! Haylage is looking very good too I was hoping you would try out the new machinery this month
Hope Monday goes well for Jess and her incredible support network. Sending healing thoughts to Jess and her ah-some family
Happy Birthday Karissa! Counting down til lambing hopefully this one will be a bit easier emotionally between the loss of lambs and Jess’ illness you had a lot to deal with. BTW you’re daughter is a Rock Star, she is dealing with her illness with such bravery. We can all take lessons from her. God bless you all.
I just want to tell you thank you. I stumbled upon you almost a year ago and haven't stopped watching since. I have severe anxiety, and when I have a flare-up, I turn to you and your videos. Thank you for all you do and all of the joy you bring to so many peoples lives. Crying and all. It's natural. Thank you for being you. You are appreciated and loved.
Lol Pipper is learning to be a little heard puppy. 😂❤
WOW that was a lot of string ..... I hope it didn't mess up the machine too much
So glad Mark got planting done 🌱and you have first cut haylage in the bag by now. And this weaning looked like quite a workout with the lambs all tangled up with each other, as well as the two of you! 🐑 As always, you and your family are in my heart as Jess embarks on the next phase of her treatment plan. Take care, hang in there Brock family, and big virtual hugs from here in Summerville, SC! ❤
Moving the sheep with the fence panel...they love you so much they wanted to check you out instead of moving to the next section!!
Happy Birthday Carissa! Always love seeing your sweet smile and strong work ethic! You are such a lovely part of Sandi’s videos 💐🎂🥳
Kinsey is such an athlete. It is a joy to watch her. The Brock family remains on my daily prayer list.
I love watching you and your family (and all of your fur and wooly babies)! It’s very relaxing and just know many are praying for you and Jessie! ❣️🐑🙏🏻

The puppy a minute in was cutting that sheep like it was a horse and cow! 😂 made my day
I want to Congratulate you on 1M Subscribers. You deserve it. I just got back from "home" which is Toronto, and all I could think about is Jess and your family and what you are going through right now. I take my hat off to you and the rest of your family in being so strong and working your asses off at your farm. I enjoy your emails and all your videos that you put out and the hard work you do to have videos for us to watch. You have so much going on in your life right now, and yet you still find the time to put out a video for us to watch. Kudo's to you! I want to wish Jess all the love and support that she needs while going through chemo. It's a foreign entity entering her body, and she will be sick from it. Jess is very fortunate to have such a supportive family behind her to help her through this. God bless you guys and hope all this sickness comes to an end soon. Thank you for ALL you do Sandi! Love and prayers - A Fellow Canuck♥♥🌟🌟🚜🚜🐑🐑
I had forgotten how the babies are difficult to move through the shoot the first time.
Happy Birthday to Karissa! 🎂🎉
On the cusp of 1 MILLION! Oh my goodness Sandi… I have been checking back in several times a day so excited to see you surpass 1 MILLION subscribers! Cheers!
🎉 same for me😂
Happy birthday Carissa 🥳
Happy birthday Karissa have a great time on your birthday
Maybe put a chair out with the Golden girls, so you can be at their level, and relax for a minute enjoying them. It's your time to take a breather once in awhile too.
Your drive and dedication never cease to impress and motivate me. Thank you for sharing your daily life ❤
A strategic purchase has supported many a happy marriage! Congrats on the new discbine!!
Love when I get the notification for your videos! I bet you could put those pens & chutes together in your sleep, you do it so often! That and your quick reflexes on the chute gates when separating always impresses me lol
Heard there were fires in Canada!! You aren't in any danger where you are, are you?? Prayers for fires to be extinguished!!
The bad fires right now are in the west, British Columbia and Alberta provinces, about two thousand miles away. They are really bad, and the prevailing winds are blowing the smoke right across most of Canada.
Oh my goodness Piper is getting so big!! We are getting a new pup in a couple weeks and seeing Piper grown makes me excited and sad 😅
It’s so fun and interesting watching you sort the lambs. You’re so quick! Well as quick as they are. But I would mess that up so much lol!!
I’m so excited for willows babies I can’t wait to see them be born
Happy birthday Carissa🎉
Some of those lambs you took to the other barn were absolutely huge, they could easily be confused with mature sheep.
Happy Birthday Carissa,
You make me smile each time I watch you helping with the sheep. You are always so cheerful. I pray this year is your best ever.
I love you in Christ. Hugs from northern California
Wishing you and the Brock family as many joys as you have rocks in your fields . How is that for a blessing? LoL. Many hugs and much love as you ALL help Jess through her journey. From Florida (the real not the political)
A happy birthday to Carissa, hope you will have a wonderful day with the people you enjoy being around and the celebrations don't bite to hard the day after.
