I read some articles but none to copy and paste. The white oak or any oak for that matter causes the soil to be acidic. Also the shade given by the trees is not good. So they recommend removing or topping off the trees.

Hello Lester. Fun fact, walnut trees do the same, when the nuts fall off the tree it’s shelling poisons the grass so it won’t starve the tree. The casings off the nuts put the nutrients back in the soil to help keep it from dying ❤
LHL's is so beautiful and peaceful. I hope after all the work and effort that you put into it, that you can hang onto it for Les and for ISS refuge in times of flooding for the babies and family, which you know is a certainty and will be needed in the future. There are so many memories there. It is a great place for the annual boat races and other family gatherings. That being said, I know that you have to make the best decision yourself, and no one can have an issue with you for that. Hey Lester, this was a lovely walkabout video. As I’ve been saying for a while now I think the water erosion system actually dramatically enhanced the beauty of LHL. I love rocks so maybe I’m partial, but I really think it beautified it. Of course everything y’all have done has beautified the property. And yes, it’s been so much fun watching Jami grow from what she felt was a black thumb to one of the greenest thumbs I’ve ever seen lol. I love what you did with the extension for Stormy and baby. Lester the answers as to why grass don't grow under white oak trees are vague but there are two kinds of grasses that do grow under oak trees including white oaks are fescue (Festuca arundinacea) or zoysia grasses (Zoysia spp). Since these two grass types don't mind shade and do well in rooted soil, they make perfect choices under your oak. Hope this response helps.

You asked the question about grass under white oak trees, here is the answer I found: Oaks cast some of the densest shade we have in a landscape. Grass beneath them might start off lush but after a few years, without enough light to generate extra energy reserve, the grass will thin. The LHL place is beautiful this year and the overflow and pathways for the rain and water are beautiful and looks like it is working well! Blessings to you!🤗💖

Jami has definitely learned so much about gardening over the years and has now created a wonderland for her home. This is where she finds her peace and calm when she needs to relax. Longhorn Lesters is an amazing place that not only has Jami made beautiful Lester but you have made beautiful with your pond, fences, bridge, barns and the spillway you had created. I love LHL. it's such a beautiful place with the rolling hills and river. I know it's quite a challenge to deal with all the flooding. You'll do whatever is right for you. That's all that matters.
Between the two of you, the property has made an amazing transformation. It’s been hard work and dedication to do so but it is beautiful. The only problem you have left that needs attention is the sides of the property going to the river. You might end up having to do like they do on the sides of Interstates and dams. Heavy retaining walls to stop the erosion. Always in my prayers. Love you guys. ❤️♥️🥰❤️♥️

Grass needs more sunlight and water to grow good so I think that's why it's so hard to keep grass there under all those white oak trees.

The pond is looking awesome! Seeing that the Spillway is working is such a relief! U & Jami are amazing people that have such big beautiful hearts!! The fact that you guys made a contingency plan at LL not just for yourselves & the babies u care for but for family AND THEIR babies as well speaks volumes of the kind of people U & Jami are!! Jami’s garden is beautiful. She does a great job and she definitely enjoys it. I hope you all don’t ever leave LL. I didn’t know about the white oak trees not allowing the grass to grow. Wow you all really have trouble with those trees and the grass growing. I believe the mini donkeys will be a great addition at IMA with LE and Megan. They’re great with the animals and have a calm, loving and caring way about them. Thanks again for another informative video.

Between the two of you, the property has made an amazing transformation. It’s been hard work and dedication to do so but it is beautiful. The only problem you have left that needs attention is the sides of the property going to the river. You might end up having to do like they do on the sides of Interstates and dams. Heavy retaining walls to stop the erosion. Always in my prayers. Love you guys. ❤️♥️🥰❤️♥️
