    Having served a full 22 years i had the opportunity to see many changes being introduced into the training syllabus and importantly the standard of kit being raised each time ., i commend this series and its content which has the right balance to capture its audience in You tube which in my mind, not only honestly informs its viewers who may be considering a career in the British Army , but also those like my self who have served and who are keeping up with the times...well done.

    The one thing I always tell soldiers in my units and it’s even in the SA80 training pamphlet is you’re not supposed to fully clean the weapon in the field and make it look shiny and clean. You’re not even supposed to take the working parts out in the field unless they’re rusting. Just remove excess carbon and rust, oil and that’s it

    I was just about to go to glencose to do the assessment centre and I got an email saying the strength of the glass in my glasses was to strong. I was meant to be going to AFC Harrogate in September, but now I have to wait until I’m 18 get laser eye surgery then re apply when I’m 19 in 2023. When out on deployment, you obviously receive a bonus which I think is £10,000? But whilst on your deployment, do you still receive your monthly payment of I believe around £1,000 aswell as deployment bonus?

    • @djrxp
      @djrxp  4 роки тому +4

      Hi Charlie, the bonus you receive will depend on the length of the deployment on each operation. From experience, it is approx. £5k for a 6 month tour. However, you receive your basic pay each month you are deployed (as normal) and on top of this you will get paid extra for being deployed. You can also get paid more for being deployed in a certain country. And the more time away you do whilst serving, you get paid more each day!

    I am looking at joining harrogate at 16 as soon as I finish my exams. (Just under a year.) It makes me a bit nervous though seeing all these men and buff guys in the army while I am one of the smallest in my school year and look like a kid. Is it realistic to aim to be a paratrooper at 17? I am short but I do work out a lot.

      @djrxp  4 роки тому +3

      Not at all. There is a medical centre that recruits with an injury or illness can go to. They will get seen by a doctor and then given what they need. You will not have to go back to the start (or a certain point) unless you miss a significant amount of training

    So I'm planning on joining the army or even the RAF, mostly for life skills, training and potential future career paths. However one factor that's stopping me from applying is the danger and risk of life at missions. Any tips how to overcome that fear, or is it even possible to not be deployed on those high risk commissions?

You always have someone there who will just talk about that one word “Danger”. I personally understand the price of joining the army. You risk your life. I acknowledge the possibility of death. I just trust myself, I rely on myself. You’ve got to just trust yourself even more and that you’re gonna do very well. Good luck, mate. I hope this helped you.

      There are multiple reasons why recruits will leave the platoon. It could be due to injury, missing too much training or because they might need to revisit a certain part they didn't get right the first time. This happens throughout the course but is not something to be concerned about. It is only ever done to ensure that each recruit completes training and is at the required standard
