Hey David love Elvis Presley First Album true great songs love listen love watch video like your cool video on elvis keep up cool things you do take care my friend look forword more video
Always learn something new watching your videos. I have always wondered why different countries sometimes have releases with different songs ? THANKS and take care.
Another very interesting video and isn’t it amazing how the first album was released so differently!! Those lyrics are crazy and wonder if anyone can place them. Oh nice HMV copy!!
Just back from the Vlissingen Vintage Rock n Roll festival in the Netherlands. The weekend kicked off on the main stage with a Dutch band, Sonic Kings, doing an Elvis tribute set - almost all movie songs and non chart records. A really unusual show. 😀
Hey David :) how are you my dear friend ? another great video, with full information on the 1st album, really nice UK HMV , the first 2 UK albums in my wishing list.......this 10'' Japanese from 1956 i dont have , i do have the 1961 Version and the RA MONO and the SHP Stereo , Excellent my friend, thank you , Cheers, Your friend :Lior
HI, Lior. I hope you're well. I'm fine, thanks. Take a listen to the RA (mono) Japanese pressing. Don't you think it sounds like electronically reprocessed stereo?
Hi David some great records there , looking good all of them especially the U.K H.M.V I still need that but have to go to the bank for an overdraft ! good point about the track listing as for the lyrics for "Tutti Frutti" that's a mystery thanks for the video.
I got my copy of Rock n Roll from a guy in Europe. Maybe they go for a bit less over there. Might be worth checking out on Discogs. Thanks for watching!
Beautiful albums, lyrics could use a lil work lol ;) 1254 is still in high demand showing it not only made history in reference to Rock n Roll but also still resonates with people today. Cool video David, thanks and stay well.
Yep, a great example of when an album transcends its time, almost like a time capsule. No matters the format it is a piece of history - in music and culture.
Another great one, David. I actually prefer the UK version, “Rock N Roll” To our version in the US. It’s no wonder why the Beatles and so many other British ask were influenced by this album. I own many different variations and, actually, the French release from ‘74 sounds unbelievable. Take Care My Friend. 😊
Yes, I prefer the UK tracks overall but it's great to have both. I'll look into that French LP. Wouldn't it have been in electronically reprocessed stereo though in 1974?
Hi Dave ,some lovely pressing there of the first album,av always wondered why heartbreak hotel was not included on the US or UK albums where the first Japanese release had included it n rightly so for me,UK pressing looked really nice ,they included rock n roll on the title but took tutti frutti off which is strange to me you couldn’t get more rock n roll a track,av never heard those lyrics before that’s new on me ,n ELs version of blue moon av always found interesting a wonder why he didn’t sing the bridge on his version ,instead going into that haunting falsetto ,a good version none the less,to get a really top copy o the UK HMV pressing you’ve still got to shell out a small fortune those early albums really hold tha price ,great video Dave 👍🎶🎹🎸,tony
Hi Tony. I think it was Parker's idea not to put singles on LPs, although obviously some later albums did have singles included on them. Another thing is that HH didn't start moving until the spring of 1956 by which point the LP was already in the shops. I read somewhere recently that Elvis just sang the Blue Moon lyrics that he remembered. I'm glad he didn't sing any of the other words, especially "Once upon a time, before I took up smiling". As you say, the HMV LPs are still sought after. I've got all three, including The Best of Elvis which I found over here. Cheers, Tony.
A libretto (Italian for "booklet") is the text used in, or intended for, an extended musical work such as an opera, operetta, masque, oratorio, cantata or musical. The term libretto is also sometimes used to refer to the text of major liturgical works, such as the Mass, requiem and sacred cantata, or the story line of a ballet. Libretto (pronounced [liˈbretto]; plural libretti [liˈbretti]), from Italian, is the diminutive of the word libro ("book"). Sometimes other-language equivalents are used for libretti in that language, livret for French works, Textbuch for German and libreto for Spanish. A libretto is distinct from a synopsis or scenario of the plot, in that the libretto contains all the words and stage directions, while a synopsis summarizes the plot. Some ballet historians also use the word libretto to refer to the 15- to 40-page books which were on sale to 19th century ballet audiences in Paris and contained a very detailed description of the ballet's story, scene by scene. The relationship of the librettist (that is, the writer of a libretto) to the composer in the creation of a musical work has varied over the centuries, as have the sources and the writing techniques employed. In the context of a modern English-language musical theatre piece, the libretto is often referred to as the book of the work, though this usage typically excludes sung lyrics according to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libretto in your opinion dave is it fact or fiction?
Uhm, I always had the impression that the UK Rock n Roll album was intended to reflect the many successful singles released by HMV on Elvis, including the Sun Records. My copy has a good cover and the album is listenable. I also have a Mexican original of Elvis Presley which is in good shape. It should be; it cost a fair bit. The Japanese issues are awesome. So, what was Stereo album Volume 1?
Yes, good point. They could have chosen singles, although That's All Right wasn't a HMV single, as you know. Stereo Album Volume 1 was the "Elvis" album. I talk about that series in this video I did a couple of years ago: ua-cam.com/video/rx7T-F9GECE/v-deo.html
@@ElvisPresleyInJapan ‘Elvis’ was the first Elvis LP in France. Elvis Presley wasn’t released until 1966. It was worth waiting; it had the gorgeous blue back cover that adorned some of the 80s black/silver label Internationals.
@@elvisonwax I think I know the one you mean. You're the second person today to recommend a French version of this LP. "Elvis" was actually the first 12" LP released in Japan, in 1957.
Great thanks
Thanks for watching.

Yes, the first album is one of very few that people who are not especially Elvis fans will buy.
Yep, a great example of when an album transcends its time, almost like a time capsule. No matters the format it is a piece of history - in music and culture.
Was at a fair and saw an original Elvis 1st lp/ Didn't buy it but looking back I should have. This fair wasn't very big. Thanks again for a top vid.😊🤘
Copies of the first album will always sell. Gotta grab them when you can. I'm sure another will come along. Thanks for watching.

Pero donde los has conseguido? Llevan años sin haber ninguno de japan y uk a la venta en esas condiciones, tengo el usa , alemania,,
