    On the other hand, I was on a United flight last month where several of the flight attendants were so poorly groomed that I didn't want the drinks or food they were serving. Hair all over the place (possibly in the food?), unkept nails, messy uniforms, one was decidedly overweight which I know this isn't fair, but it seemed to accentuate her poorly fitted uniform. I don't want people to be judged on their looks, but being neat and well groomed, especially when you're handling and serving food and drinks, is important, at least it is to me. For airlines based in Western countries, the days of admiring or being envious of their flight attendants are decidedly over.

    I know lots of people above the age of 50 that are still flight attendants, and they love it, however, not in the Emirates.... more like in Europe, America or South America, there is no age limit. The oldest flight attendant in the US is around 69 yo. It's totally possible. But not with Emirates, usually outside the UAE, people can fly around 80 hours per month, in the UAE I guess it's around 120 hours pm.... that's insane....

      I have heard of airline crashes due to how tired pilots were, due to the fact that they could not afford a place to stay. This was some years ago, and a pilot’s starting salary was less than a cleaner in the UK got paid. The airline in question was an American one.

    I wonder that I have a tattoo on the forearm and my question is that whether the uniform might be cover it or not. Although I’ve been invited to the cabin crew interview in my area, I worried about that I would not be able to pass it cuz of a tattoo 🥲
    Pls give me your advice if possible sis and I really appreciate that.

      You can get your own but they won't give you allowance to pay for it, and in Dubai it's necessary as accommodation is really expensive. I saw a video about a pilot and why he left Emirates. Only those who make captain have a half decent experience. First officers are a dime a dozen and they don't care. When I see these companies do these things I think the problem is at the very top. The CEO/President owns their own crap and they should be held accountable.

    • @amindfulnomad
      @amindfulnomad  2 місяці тому

      You're right, the problem is definitely at the very top. But FOs made a very decent living! The main thing I always heard pilots complain about was the amount of flying hours, which was almost the same as cabin crew.

      -Work on your English, practice watching videos, movies, whatever you can get your hands on.
      -Work on your mindset. The more confident you are, the better you'll do in the interview, because you'll feel prepared.
      -Apply for smaller airlines or a job in the airport. It's a way to get involved in the aviation world which will also give you more confidence and value in your CV.
