Thank you. A VERY helpful video. The smaller "smartphone gimbals" are maxed-out by the 12 Pro Max with case and auxiliary lenses and/or filters, so this is really the only solution. Still not sure a gimbal is needed for the 12 PM given how good the camera's stabilization is. (Also, I often use a monopod.)

Super helpful! I didn't see that screw hole on the bottom of the phone holder and was needing just this!
Also, I fitted my small rig cage which helped camera weight on my a6500 👌
I tried everything to balance my ronin sc and even though everything shows up excellent in the balance test, the gimbal just does the weird thing where it flips and just won't work as it should. Can u help....any advice ?
I would buy some balancing weights and mount those to the gimbal first and then the phone on top of the weights. This should help
I mounted a 12 pro max and I still get a little sway do you think balance weights will mitigate that sway ?

Are you able to use the shutter controls that are on the gimbal with your smartphone? Like the start/stop recording button.

Thanks for sharing! I use the A6300+kit lens & had to hack the lack of weight by taping a Canon battery on top of my camera. This solution is much easier (and more elegant) :)
Is it possible to control iPhone with the ronin sc2? I mean I plugged in the official cable to the left side port showing camera icon and I plugged it also to my phone but I can’t make photo with the button which shoul do it with the for example Sony DSLR. I also don’t have the camera icon on the small screen of a gimbal when connecting the cable. Would greatly appreciate if someone could help!?
I mounted my Xiaomi 10T Pro 5G to the Ronin SC with a custom 3d printed mount on another custom shoe that is about 25mm tall. To fix the uneven weight issue I made a small box were I placed 16x60g balance weights for car wheels

Turn the phone upside down.
Record button won't work unless you connect some cable from the gimbal to the phone, which likely doesn't exist.
iPhone 13 pro with step up ring and ND filter keeps shaking even after auto tuner. Bummer
Do you notice a little bit of sway ? I’m using a iPhone 12 Pro Max which is pretty heavy do you think I should use balance weights to make it a little heavier

Lol true, unfortunately all smartphone gimbals as of this date only support a payload of up to 290gr. An iPhone 13 Pro + some filters/lenses will go well over that limit. Would you have any other suggestions?

Try to Balance Smartphone Vertically. it quite difficult
I have a ronin sc for quite some time, but at the moment I want to use my camera (GH5s) together with the phone holder (for active track) AND microphone + lighting panel (I have a triple shoe mount). The payload is 1.8 kg (so still under the max payload of 2kg) but I can't get it to balance? Do you know what can be done? I'm sure I can't be the only one with this issue lol
Does the ronin sc come with the cellphone mount? I have a s20 with heavy case and need a heavier duty gimbal.

In case of using smartphone I'm curious why you do not think to use weight's? Is it not possible to use other not original camera plate? I do not own and never had an Gimbal but I'm looking around comparing Dji Ronin SC - Feiyu G6 Plus 3-Axis and other. I want to use camcorder HDC-SD 90 or the smaller iphone SE attached into an smartphone holder, for example the Beastgrip. Attached externals as Lavalier microphone or wireless, light will it gives more weight. In case still not balanced is there in my remembering the metal or aluminium weights with 1.4" thread used with the old stabilizers. Why the interesting for the Ronin SC, there is much place for smartphones to added external adapters what is difficult to find into the specials made gimbals for smartphone.

Now … what if you get a custom phone aluminium mount with threads and put some counterweights on the left side to make it a bit heavier …
This should compensate the tilt ..
Make sure when balancing the Sony , camera is turned on because I thing lens usually extend. And that puts stress on the motors. Because you’re balancing a solid object and is different than a volatile object.
I think that should be taken in consideration also.

I have a S21ultra and my plan is to purchase a moment cage then mount it. The rig is 287 grams ( 7.8 oz) and the phone is 229 grams (8.07 grams) to obtain more weight. If it's not enough the cage is metal so I figure I can attach weights to it. Do you think this will work?? Thanks! 😊

@@BradleyFPV The active track only works when it's connected to a camera it doesn't work if you are filming with an iphone. I use a 12 pro max but with the ND filter and mount and I used two small camera weights to keep it balanced correctly because it is too heavy for a smaller cell gimble and light for this size gimbal.
Hi, so I need some help here! I managed to add my iPhone to the dji ronin sc and it works amazingly but I can't use the shutter button as I don't have a cable to connect the iPhone to the gimbal. Basicly I need to pres the record button on the phone insted of the gimbal, so any idea wherew I can find a remote cable for iPhone, I already bought one it matches the sokets but it doesn't work as the gimbal doesn't recognise it it and is still asking me for a cable if I want to use the traking option on the phone...

@@user-gv2gs2kz4f unfortunately I gave up. I bought 7 different types of cables to try to make it work but none of them work. They connect perfectly but the Ronin is not recognising the iPhone software. The funny part is that if I connect my Panasonic mirrorless camera and then connect the phone to the camera by wireless, it works… but connecting the iPhone directly as to become the main camera the shutter of the ronin doesn’t work at all. I think it’s a software thing from the ronin as I tried with an android to do the same thing and it’s the same problem. Also I can’t find a solution to this anymore else in the internet, I found a few forums about it but with no solution as of yet. If I find something by mistake I’ll let you know but for now I give up… if you do find a fix please let me know as well. Thank you

it's a bummer this doesn't work with Filmic Pro app. I have an iPhone XS Max + Moment lenses and I have tried 4 different gimbals and none work well for balancing, so I might just get this...
Yeah the Ronin SC should definitely take the weight. Have you tried the Zhiyun crane m2. Its more portable but in terms on stabilization the Ronin SC is less wobbly.

is the dji ronin sc app compatible with the iphone 12 pro max? if not, which app/software would work?
The Ronin Sc will only be used to stabilize your videos on the iPhone 12 pro max. Iphone Bluetooth connectivity allows you to control the Ronin SC to control a mirrorless camera but not vice versa. Hmm.. i havent come across any app though. A mobile phone gimbal like the DJI om4 would be able to do that.
I purchased a Sirui Anamorphic Lense & Density filter for a white iPhone XR. I’ve tried it with the crane m2 and it does not like that weight haha. Do you think that those attachments will add enough extra weight for the DJI ronin SC to work properly?
Yes it should work no problems. Just need to hit that Autotune button and everything will work fine.

Hey there! The Ronin SC was designed for Mirrorless cameras. There is no connectivity for DSLRs. The DJI Ronin S, Zhiyun Weebill-S and Feiyu-Tech AK2000s can be used with DSLRs. I have videos on those gimbals as well on my channel.

For activetrack u need to mount ur mobilephone onto the hotshoe mount of ur camera and connect the mobilephone to the gimbal via bluetooth. I have used activetrack on the sony cameras since a year ago

Doesn't Active track work with the OSMO Gimbal's and a phone. I hope DJI can make it work with a Ronin gimbal and a phone. Currently I would like to purchse a Ronin Gimbal and use active track. The DJI OM 5 has many 1 star reviews. It is not powerful enough to use the iPhone 13 Pro Max. I also would like to attach a lens using an adapter to my iPhone. So i'm sure the DJI OM 5 wouldn't be able to handle it anyway.
I can work on learning cinematography with my iPhone and also buy Canon lenses to use with the adapter. Later down the road I will get a Bmpcc 6k Pro Camera. So I would rather have a gimbal that will already work with it. Also the Canon lenses will be compatible.

What if I use two phones one on top of the other, one as my recording camera on the bottom, and one on the top for the motion tracking. By using a vertical double phone mount.

with a bit of working around with two phones I've made it work. Though sometimes it does have a hard time following a rapid moving target.

I have some weird issue. When i tilt my sc more than 45 degree, it goes all crazy. Due to this, I'm not able to use it or do 360. It was working fine with other cameras i tried earlier but i just bought a6400 and facing this issue. I even tried balancing my old d3200 which worked fine but facing the same issue :(
Hmm normally when that happens, its the pan axis that isnt balanced properly.
@@TreeTanksDev Actually I have tried it balancing tons of time, even tried balancing my friends a7iii which i have used earlier and even after all properly balancing, even if pan it up or down, it starts going all crazy
