Thank you, just if your standing right above the acrylic it can be hard to see being clear, just to make sure you dont miss any and they stand out, wouldnt want someones laser head crashing into them. Just being extra cautious :)
Awesome video, I can’t wait to try this. I just started engraving acrylic on my CO2 and having issues with flash back and build up on my lens. Any recommendations to prevent the build up? I have my lens 3mm away from my material and turn off assist.
just cut a few small squares at different powers and with air on and off see what works best i use a 60 power 12 speed for cutting , for etching you really want a low power, 10 power 350 speed is a good start is plenty enough on my 80w and i dont really get no buildup, i do have other videos on acrylic and DPI
@@carphotography I binged 10-20 of you videos after the previous comment. Your stuff has really gave me a lot of knowledge and ideas and thanks for answering my question! Just sounds like I need to dial in my settings a little better and possibly defocus my lens on purpose in some situations.
Once upon a time, my wife had burned my laser machine. Just because of using acrylic distances.... Do NOT make distances from materials, that can burn. Ever. Especially acrylic.
@@carphotography I prefer permanent magnets for many reasons, with 4mm thickness. btw, they allows to make some materials like plywood much more even, if you'll catch pieces between them.
@@7BlackOx This is not for holding the work down, Acrylic is flat, this is just to keep the smoke from trapping and giving cleaner cuts, the knife bed would be the same but i dont like to keep removing the honeycomb.
@@7BlackOx got you, i only use cast acrylic and mainly 3/16" and i never have a problem with warping . Canal Plastics is a nice store for good acrylic.
i want to make something like sawtooth measured by TPI(teeth per inch) so basically mm for each tooth, it possible to captured small detail on acrylic until 24 TPI(1 mm/teeth)?
Thank you. It's super helpful. Cuts so clean and love it.
A more pointy tip might make them easier to get on and off. Great idea.
much much cleaner awesome video !!!
Thank you :D
Fantastic video! Thank you for sharing
thanks for watching
I wish i could cut acrylic like that. I am only at diode budget at the moment. Co2 dreams
Sorry to bother you..
What laser cut machine do you prefer for Acrylic… I am looking for one, and completely new to it??🙏😇
thanks so much, your video helped me a lot.
You're welcome! thanks for watching :D
HI FROM CALIFORNIA. GETTING A FOG BAKED INTO THE ACRLIC SURFACE THIS WINTER. DO YOU KNOW IF ITS TEMP OR HUMIDITY CAUSING THIS?
if you are cutting on the honeycomb bed , try the knife bed below , as sometimes the smoke and heat pools up in the honeycomb. Thank you
What is the set point for acrylic cutting in lightburn? Kindly someone tell me
Thanks for the video. I did not understand why you said to paint them RED?
BTW: The audio volume is much better now.

@@danekline7913 yes lightburn has a built in material test under tools, check that out also. thanks for watching
@@carphotography thanks!
Can clear acrylic be cut like this using a diode laser?
Im not sure i have never used a diode laser, i use an 80W co2 laser, thank you
@@carphotography I found out after I asked you that you can't cut clear acrylic with a blue diode laser. Oh well! I have 2 cnc routers that can! 😆
are you using a compressor for the air?
Hi just the one that came with the machine the machine is still 100% stock.
How tall are the pins?
from what i remember about 1" - 1-1/4" above the honeycomb
👍
Are you using a CO2 laser?
yes 80w Co2 laser

the distance is the same to the material, just the material is higher from the bed so smoke dont get trapped. thank you

@@carphotography yep, me too. that's why I'm using pm. btw, acrylic often comes not flat, spcly whent it thin & extruded...
