My sister living in Tucson had one that size that would occasionally be found in her back yard and they would just shoo it away. She came home one day from work and it was laying on the sidewalk going into her front door. That made her call a snake wrangler to come out and remove it.
Impressive indeed but I got news for ya…. One was taken that was 5’1 in the hills of Calabasas (north of Malibu) about 6 years ago. It was a monster. Living under a shipping container in the hills.
I never understood that argument, "the snakes out west aren't big" . As if that means a 3 foot WDB isn't as dangerous as a 6 foot EDB. A bite is a bite, you're going to the hospital and its going to be very painful.
Now that is a RATTLESNAKE!,but I have seen an eastern diamond back quite a bit bigger and S.C.low country cane break rattlesnakes that make that one look small
Yes, that's a big Crotalus O. Helleri. We have the Crotalus O. Oreganus here in NorCal. Biggest I've seen is also 4-5' in length. I saw it hiking at night in Annadel State Park, in '96. Had a flashlight on thankfully, when I saw him crossing the trail. Beautiful snake but I was pretty freaked out. They hunt at night, and rarely rattle. Neither to So. Pacifics, unless you really agitate them or come too close. Please be careful. They blend in very well in their environments. C. Helleris are known to also have neurotoxic venom and be more dangerous than ours.
Actually there are no Timber Rattlesnakes in California. Maybe you mean Ojai in another state? Up in Ojai CA it’s almost exclusively Southern Pacific Rattlesnakes. Timbers range ends around middle of Texas. No further West.
Not as big - yet the southern pacific has the second most potent venom in the US. Mycotoxins, neurotoxins, and occasionally hemotoxins. If I HAD to choose a rattler to get bit by, it would not be this one.
My dogs and I almost got tagged my one that size in San Diego some years ago. It was right next to the sidewalk in the bushes. Heard that rattle. The landscapers came running with shovels. Didn't stick around for the fate of the reptile.
I was thinking the same thing. I've seen so many of these videos and the wild snakes continue to rattle and pose defensively until they are able to retreat. This video seems misleading. Even though he warns people not to attempt this, it's still a careless demonstration. No one should ever try to hold a venomous snake that close. It was easily within striking distance. Even if it is calm, snakes are quick and unpredictable. Well, he does say it was taken from someone's home...so probably a pet.
That joker is big and it's a beautiful snake. I don't think I've ever seen that type of snake that big before. Nice job.

That snake has been around a long time. Love your channel!
Thank you 🙏 😊
I appreciate you letting them go. They are an amazing creature.
That rattle! 😮 holy cow
Wow that’s incredible Bruce, biggest socal rattler I’ve seen, they always seem to be more docile when they’re this big.
Bc they got no competition lol
That’s about as big as they get. A guy in my hunting club got one up near Lake Henshaw and it was 58” I think.
So had it not been killed it would have gotten bigger? 🧐
Wow! That’s nuts.

Finding big ones is truly rare. Was it measured, photographed and documented?
I didn't realize SoPacs got that big. Wow, what a thick snake.

What a beauty! So gorgeous ❤
She was a really pretty snake.
WOW what a beauty that had the pleasure and luck to live so long. Stay safe and thank god for people that respect that. 👊👊
He’s a big one😳

Wow that’s impressive. Depending on the population some of the SP get quite toxic and can be neurotoxic
Tanx for sharing
I saw an 11 foot rattlesnake here in Arkansas once. The girth on that snake is amazing.
There are no 11 foot rattlesnakes
Longest Rattlesnake ever recorded in history was 8’6” in Florida. Nothing has come close since.
Tell whoever makes a comment about snake size to get bit by a southern pacific. Or a coral snake.
Good point. One of the most toxic venoms of all Rattlesnakes
That is a big snake!
Here in Ojai we do get Timber rattlers… Is it just SD area you haven’t seen one?

Bigger ain't always better. Lol!
Any snake to me is 100 feet long 😳
Man that snake thicker than my ex girlfriend 😂
Where will you take him?
We relocated him in to a nearby nature preserve suitable for large snakes
Nope not me I would be in another state or even country if I saw that in my yard. My life as I know it would never be the same. Hahaha 😆
Yes he's a big boy!

What a beauty l😊
That is a chunk of snake!
That snake is too domesticated for a wild rattler,I’m thinking he was someone’s pet
Oh no. SnaKes are almost always calm if treated with respect. Only getting defensive when threatened

You must be a snake whisper like I am because that big snake is trusting you.
Dude you must be only four feet long tall. That rattler is at least six feet long
I am 6’ 3” 200
Pounds. Not a small guy.
What's your location buddy I got me a good 12G shotgun 😅😂
Wow. Seriously. Did you eat paint chips as a child? It’s the only thing that would explain your level of ignorance
Looks delicious
I prefer fat dog like the one on your page 😉. Great for tacos
@@Irelandrbi if you could get close to that dog you can eat him 😉
Big snake it would make a nice dinner and a belt
My guess is you’d require a Big belt 😉
@@Irelandrbi one size fits all lol
@@shirleymatthews2980 Good come back. Lol 😂
If that snake was in my yard it would be dead..
As I read your comment I used Forrest Gump voice. Otherwise it was a weak comment. But Forrest Gump voice at least made it entertaining 😂
@@Irelandrbi ... You're right! I can hear him saying "I'm not a smart man."
@@JW...-oj5iw lol. Go back to Greenbow Alabama Jenny!
Should have killed it
We only kill Keyboard Trolls. 😉
How old might he be or has he just been eating well?
Hard to say. My guess would be 3-5 years.
