This is stephs video, entirely made by her with very little input from me. She will be along to answer comments via the "op shop romance" account later on.
Whenever Steph makes a video for this channel, I feel bewildered by just how naturally her persona comes through in everything she does. It's very welcoming. Thanks for the the really cool look into the game.
Really loved this video. It was Steph's enthusiasm that led me to buy both Obsession and Marrying Mr Darcy. My husband and I just played our first game of Obsession (base game 2nd edition) and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. We entered into the spirit with the role play as well! Must try with the Upstairs Downstairs expansion next time. Thank you to both of you for all your great videos 💕
This has been my favorite board game video of 2020 hands down. No questions. Period. Please do more. So many more! And now to pop in my Gosford Park DVD, find my wallet and order Obsession.
OMG!!! what a video! First I saw 22 minutes and I thought too long...boring...I started to see it and I can not stop!! What a great video, congratulations Stephanie!! Gold metal for you :) Regards from Mexico.
Yes, more Stephanie please!! I just got this too and was giggling with joy with how beautiful all the components are, love this game so much... great vid 😊
2024 - Getting 'all the things' for Christmas - I've avoided all videos until I decided to buy, makes no sense I've not done that before... so this is my first and what a gem.
One of the most entertaining, and accurate board game reviews EVER. If I had not already bought the game I would have ordered it straight away. Thanks Stephanie! Such a shame that we live on opposite sides of the globe so I won't ever have the opportunity to experience playing a game of Obsession with you.
Loved, loved, LOVED the video! I so enjoy hearing your views and seeing you on this channel! A game where I always role play the entire game is Last Will. We usually fall off our chairs laughing at the ridiculous stories we make up to loose our thankfully and thoroughly dead uncle''s money. Morbid, but soooo much fun : )
More Steph! You are such a delight and I completely enjoy every video you participate in creating. Obsession arrived at our house three days ago, and I am working on learning it to play this weekend with my own “useful man” ;) Designer Dan Hallagan has to be one of the nicest guys in the hobby.
Stephanie, you are absolutely lovely and I love your natural ability in making this video feel so authentic and pure. Maybe it is because you remind me of a best friend that recently moved away, though I feel like it is just your charm alone, but your review was just wonderful. I don't know whether or not to say thanks since I now have less money in my wallet but I feel that pinch will ware off once the game arrives (oh, and my Gosford Park dvd since I had long forgotten about that one)!
I have to be honest, that I only watched this because it's about Obsession, which is (spoiler) also my #1 game of 2020. Steph did a terrific job, I love her sense of humor. The family boxes inside 2e core box are amazing! I totally agree that I feel spoiled when I am handed my own personal family box when we're setting up to play. I wish the Wessex expansion came with its own meeples, but that is my only single small complaint. Obsession is as close to perfect as I could imagine a game could be for me. Thanks for allowing me to revel in its glory with you Steph! I VOTED! 🇺🇸
Very entertaining review! Several big laughs where I got the cleverness of her humor (even though I'm just an American). Oh how I hope my wife will like this game as Stephanie does.
Brilliant video, Stephanie, you are a natural presenter!! Being from another part 🇨🇦 of the Commonwealth, my first association with the purple bag was “Crown Royal!”. The Cadbury font + Crown Royal is quite a top shelf combo. 🙂
Love the 3’ videos but I also love your style and humour, super fun to watch and it’s clear to me you have the same passion for getting really into the atmosphere of the board games you play, and a love for the aesthetics of the components. I look forward to seeing more of your videos. With videos like this, long is just fine. ♥️😄
Steph would love to do more videos, but between working full time, teaching dance classes and baby wrangling. She just hasn't had the brain space for it. I'll show her this comment though and thank you
Lovethis review! Because of Steph’s original review of Obsession, it peeked my interest. After watching some play throughs I was sold. Got the complete 2nd edition and all the expansions and I’m thoroughly enjoying it. Thanks for the video recommendations I need to do my homework and watch Gosford Park and Upstairs Downstairs. Love Downton Abby! We need more Steph reviews!! Maybe have a sub channel called “Over 3 min Reviews with Steph.” I would watch through the whole thing because she is just so darn cute and her personality sings through the camera. Keep it up sister! We need more female representation in the hobby!
I love her review so much, I've watched it just for fun a couple extra times after buying the game! (how did I miss that cheeky STP comment the first times?) Please tell Stephanie she is delightful altogether!
Really loved this! Still not sure about the game, as I'm not a fan of deck builders, but perhaps it is only lightly a deck builder? Steph, you're pretty fun and your enthusiasm is infectious. Hope to see more! I borrowed Through A Glass Darkly from the library, which I think is a similar theme, but haven't opened that beast yet.
I am really interested in this game because of your previous video. I pledged all in in the last kickstarter of this game, but in the end, I have to drop it because the shipping cost is really expensive
One of the best things rules wise is starting with 5 objective cards and discard down throughout the game. Why haven’t more games done this? It gives more options, offers more difficult choices, takes out some luck of the draw (some, since you can still get more). Great idea. Also, this video put this game on my radar. I’ve watched more reviews since and now I have it on pre-order from my FLGS. The retail copies can’t get to Europe soon enough.
Omg i had so much fun watching!!! Please make more like these! I have this game on my wishlisrt for quite some time but now it moved to the top. I hope I can get it in Austria.
I really like legit 2nd editions. And my interests on getting the game definitely goes up when I see one. Coming from a computer game background I've gotten used to getting patches after release. The idea of having a final product before it got tested by the masses is about 20 years old to me, yet here I am back at it. You can only play test so much, with so many people, and take only so much time. Also extremely impressed by the VP pie chart.
0:55 Impressive! 5:05 The main reason for this change is probably because in EP, you are more likely to already be at rep 6 in late rounds so the effectiveness of the holiday is almost nil for most people. This can be especially true if using Upstairs/Downstairs. 5:45 Another still useful aspect of the separate board is when you have more horizontal room than vertical room. You can slot the estate next to the family board instead of below. This happens a lot in 2 player since you usually put the main boards between you. 8:10 I think solo play rules are in the base game (hence the purple d20). Wessex has the rules/cards for solo EXTENDED play 10:50 Title should be changed to Obsession 2nd edition and Gosford Park with Stephanie! :D 11:10 It's not a murder mystery movie unless Maggie Smith is in it! ua-cam.com/video/Icy-Im9Lyi0/v-deo.html 12:25 Also… a real person! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sara_Forbes_Bonetta
Love Godsford Park, also inspired by yet another movie, La Règle du Jeu, by Jean Renoir. Not so easy to find these days, but totally worth it too, amazing movie. Teffy, idea for a video one day: the full lineage of these British upstairs/downstairs movies! 😀 Amazing review, BTW, can’t wait to be able to get a copy
Kick ass video Steph! I was wondering, do you think this game would win over a bunch of guys used to playing war games? I keep hearing about how great this game is and I"m wondering if the greatness might overcome whatever qualms we may have with the stark contrast in theme we are use to. Looking forward to more of your work!
Not even an English language version? I know they are a small company so don't do many translations, but the game itself, asides from the rulebook, is pretty light on words
Stephanie... I am shocked!!! A review of the new edition of Obsession, but you show the old DVD version of Gosford Park? You ARE aware that there is an Anniversary Edition of the film now out with new extras, right?
Okay, I stand corrected. It's not called Anniversary Edition - just Special Edition. If you like Gosford Park/ Downton Abbey etc, have you ever seen The Forsyte Saga? The original '60s version was okay (AFAIK -- I never saw it) but the 2002 remake with Damian Lewis and Gina McKee was excellent. Great vid, BTW!

Agreed. My favorite board game video this year.
She’s amazing at this! And mine just arrived, which I ordered because of your review, huzzah!
