When I first started in 2016, it was all about "junk"! When we had swaps our journals were to be a certain percentage of found junk which was a lot of fun. Then people started using digi kits and that really took a lot of the fun out of junk journaling and caused some to looked down their noses at people who really did use found junk in their journals. I quit swapping b/c I could afford all of the bought stuff at the time. I think it would be nice to see more real "junk" journals on the horizon!!!! Thank you for sharing this video with us today!!!!!
I agree with you I don't live near a nice craft store and I'm on extremely tight budget financially it's discouraging when you see all the UA-cam videos using all these kits and special tools kind of discouraging
@@victoriapalmer5146 I felt the same way when I first started. It was actually my 6 year old who changed my mind. Watching the way she decorates her "junk journals" with bits of old paper (wallpaper, comics, old story books etc....), was an eye opener. Now we watch all the videos for inspiration, then hunt in the house and "nanny's" house for things we can use and improvise 😅
Watching in 2023! Thanks for this! I love the chat at the end about fun, its very important and good for our mental health 😊im going to craft a little something with my granddaughter tomorrow for her mummy ❤😊
I am on a fixed income and you have provided valuable intel today, maybe I can get some cleaning done while shopping in my own home for supplies. LOL I do tea dye various types of paper. I was amazed because it looks like parchment paper. Thanks so much for the laughs and learning. Good Morning to the bird babies,
"Time to rummage around in those bathroom drawers, Sally, and see whatcha got because this is fun!" Pam, you are so funny and so enthusiastic -- you just embrace the whole world with your crafty goodness! 😆
“Fun is as important as vitamins and sunshine”!! I just love your channel! You crack me up! Cute ideas here....your “finger tool” with the glue and the makeup amazed me....I recently bought mica powders (my “old makeup” is long gone!!) so I may try that with those! TYFS! It’s an “inspiration palooza” in here! 😀❤️🦋💜
I’ve been using the clear shoes polish and mix it with the eye shadow it gives exactly the wax colors but way cheaper, using the dark one is new I must try it , thank you so much for sharing dear ❤️
Surprised kids today don't know about The Brady Bunch. Mentions Betty Boop. I love your ideas and resourcefulness, but it is your conversation that keeps me coming back.
These are great ideas, thank you! We frequently have little campfires in the fall and there's always the one or two pieces of wood that don't burn down. I break little chunks of the blacken part off charred wood, crinkle a piece of paper and then smudge that into the creases.
I loved the eyeshadow! ***runs to dressing table to find old eyeshadow, trips, falls...carries on for the sake of crafting genius*** I am clumsy beyond belief! Lol
Great ideas, thank you! I have used extra firm hold hair spray ( the cheaper the better) to set chalky pastels or eye shadows on paper. Just a very light mist in about 2 coats, drying in between.
When I was a kid back in the late 70s we lived on a very fixed income and I had to get creative well back then there wasn't the great craft stores they have today I even had to make my glue out of flour and water and use a Q-tip to spread it but yes I would rummage around in my grandfather's work bench and my grandmother storage drawer looking for Creative supplies scraps of stuff to turn into some kind of craft project I think the hunt for supplies was just as much fun as creating About brightly colored nail polish in different colors using it like paint or using it to stamp... and I bet all those crazy colors of lipstick would work just like the shoe polish does
“These are not my jam”....you are a combination of my dear friend, my step mommy, and me. You make me feel so happy because of your reckless abandon. Thank you for all you do. Say hello to Holly from Cynthia. His voice also brings me joy.
I make little custom rubber stamps from plastic 2-3” erasers. When I was a kid, eons ago, I’d write with ballpoint on a pink eraser and print it on my page. A fingerprint is the basis of my Christmas wrap designs.
I am an hour away from any of the craft stores. Senior on fixed income as well. Junk is my main ingredient. I do get some things from thrift stores but again a good portion of that would be considered junk as well. Lol. I make a huge amount of coffee and otherwise died paper. I buy lace shirts or skirts from those thrift stores and cut or tear them into ephemera size or strips to use in different ways I buy lots of partially used composition notebooks (for about 50 cents) to alter. Seasonal junk mail catalogs give me holiday fussy cuts and words. We have a store near us they gets a lot of brown packing paper and they don’t mind me collecting it. I do buy the occasional stickers or glue or necessary stuff. But mostly it’s stuff I already have or junk I find.
As a makeup junky I´ve built up a fair amount of over the years, I started with crappy makeup which comes handy both with junk art and polymer clay, I´m glad that I´m a hoarder, always have things to reuse for something else ;D 💜 and the thing with makeup palettes, there´s always a shade or two that you´ll never use (or rarely) so why not use it for crafting since you already paid for it :D and now days you can get a budget palette for less that a coffee, sure, it may suck to use on your face, but dang they can be awesome in art! and a HUGE plus, there´s usually a crappy sponge applicator in cheap palettes and they are a handy tool to have when crafting :D and a multipack for cheap! This idea was really fun, and it shows that you honestly don´t need all the fancy supplies to create :)
I just found this one! THANK YOU! I never thought about using my old eye shadow and blush! I only had black for my ink pad and I did not like the way the edges were on my envelopes and stuff! THIS softened that and made it look awesome! So THANK YOU!
A big hello to you Patricia followed by a warm cyber hug :) !! This was a fun one to make! I think I will do more videos on using common household items to craft with. :)

"Olden days," lol. Yes, it seems that anything before the '00s is "vintage." I use a lot of cereal boxes, junk mail, coffee, tea, kids' watercolor paints, old toothbrushes, and old clothing. I enjoy repurposing and remaking whenever possible. You show us some good ideas; I'd like to use more of my old makeup in projects, maybe I'll try it again with the glue trick. Thanks for sharing, take care!
Hi pam, please make more videos on how to make pretty pages in journal, dye papers, scrap pile challenge, tucks and Pocket and book marks please Is am waiting specially for these videos please pam it's request reply
Pam and Holly, thank you for sharing your crafting happy place. Paper crafting has become my happy place during the neverending lockdown, and you have been very much a guiding light for this. As for vintage and old, my rule of thumb has always been "old" is 20 years older than me. *Wink*. Thanks again! Keep safe and happy
Love it love it, this is full of invention and helps us see there is lots to use to create. All these home items may look like Cinderella, but wow you get her looking like a princess in no time. It is so interesting and such fun. Thank you Pam hope you make more to encourage and excite us crafters. 👏👏👏👏👏❤❤❤❤
This looks like fun. I've used an old eyeshadow palette to hold my mica powders, makes it easier to sprinkle a little on my tags and painty papers. I had a go with eyeshadow but the pigment was poor. I'll try using glue, see if it turbo charges the result. Joie xx
Great ideas for the new paper crafter. I too could have saved money had I thought of using the items around the house. As always, thanks for the inspiration. Hope your week is filled with awesome ideas (so you can share) 😉
Such a sweet, thoughtful, and fun video, Pam! You've given me the idea to put water on a plain page, then try dropping the ground up bits of eye shadow on top! Hmmm....i wonder what will happen!
I really enjoy your presentations. You're down to earth and all common sense. Some of the other videos sound like the people need an intervention!! Love listening and watching your stuff. I never understood the whole point of doing "junk" journals, and calling them junk seems to degrade them. Maybe some day I'll .make one, but for now I'll watch.
I love the idea of rummaging through old makeup! It’s going to be fun to use that old stuff! Thanks as always for sharing ideas ... you make me laugh so much .... using up junk mail is awesome too ....
I made me some sprays with LA colors eyeshadows and 91% alcohol and I love them!! I enjoy your videos so much, you are hilarious and make me laugh!!😍🤗😘 Tfs
I love this. There is a quote that always inspires me. “Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.” You totally reminded me of that! I love your videos
I always love your creativity! I still have not used Distress Ink. I use watercolor at I have on hand. They smudge nice with a moist tissue or wipe. I splurged and bought a little corner cutter. However, a curved cuticle scissors or toenail clipper also gets the job done. For angled corners, I made a template from heavy cardboard. Thanks for the inspiration!
Such energy! I’m new and love that your doing a “use what you have” video! I’m also still of the mind (like you said) not sure what I’m doing, or what I’m going to do with it! It’s fun though!
This world is crazy, Amen sister to that. Even if I never get to make anything, just listened to your beautiful sense of humor brightens my day. So thank you very much for that. I sent you an email question, I hope that wasn't a problem, I know you are super busy. But I trust your advice. Take care and God bless you and yours and keep you safe. Finally! I true video on "real" Junk Journals. So many these days remind me of what "glamping" is to camping. Thanks!

I would love to see you cover real junk into items for a junk journal. Perhaps you’d make a video?
That's how it started..to use things u have available..but I see now that most things are bought and I can't afford it
Watching in 2023! Thanks for this! I love the chat at the end about fun, its very important and good for our mental health 😊im going to craft a little something with my granddaughter tomorrow for her mummy ❤😊
Pam, you make junk journaling so much fun! There’s a reason we are all hanging on to old makeup! LOL! ❤️
So cool to see something made without expensive stuff
Good Morning Pam!
Who doesn’t love going back to basics !!! It’s a great creative feeling ! Thank you !!!
So true!

I use old eyeshadow on my polymer clay to add shimmer and it bakes right in.. Now I have another use for it lol... Thanks, Pam!! 💖
Wonderful!

Oooh all those old makeup pallets I never use... 😍
I know right? I need 1000 pair of eyes to go through one palette ;)
Also palette.. lol
Great ideas, thank you! I have used extra firm hold hair spray ( the cheaper the better) to set chalky pastels or eye shadows on paper. Just a very light mist in about 2 coats, drying in between.
I really enjoy your vids, I actually talk and make comments in answer to what your saying, I'm learning at the same time. Thank you

Are these products safe to use with photos or printables?

I like to dye paper with food coloring, white vinegar and water. They come out in really pretty colors and patterns.
I've heard of people coloring paper with the old Kool-Aid packages and it smells good too
love junk journal thanks pam
Fun is the key.
LoL.......I just love you Pam! You're so amazing on many levels!! ❤️🙏🏽
Oh thank you dearest Angela! :)
Back in the day, I actually designed an annual report cover with a blue shimmer eye shadow:)
Good Morning Pam & Holley🐦❤
This was great fun to join you! The love you have for junk journaling shines in all you do 🌞 Have a Blessed week💞
Hi Kimberly Copeland! That means a lot! :) Many blessings Kimberly! :)
That was cool seeing how you use glue with eyeshadow .I'll keep that in mind .
You could use the charcoal from a used candle wick for the aged effect.
Thanks for the glue thing with eyeshadow. I wondered how I could get it stronger with the color. Now I know. 🤗
Agree! Eyeshadow is great for toning down bright white areas, and comes in so many colors to match whatever you're working on! Also, some is sparkly!
You are so welcome!

Hi Pam. Thanks very creative. Thanks for the ideas.
I've used lots of eyeshadow from the thrift store to put stencils on pages. Never thought of using glue to make it more saturated. Great idea.
Wonderful as always!
Thank you! Cheers!
Hi Pam, thank you. Those are my resources right here...
Thanks Pam so much fun. My thrift store carries makeup yeah 🎉

Great ideas here, such artwork out of not much stuff. I've also used old nail polish & chalk. Hello Holly too.
I like the journals made with these kind of things much better than those from a kit, etc. More creative, IMO-----
Ty, Pam!! :)
I used eye shadow instead of distress ink, worked great and looked just the same. Thanks for the ideas
Great ideas for the new paper crafter. I too could have saved money had I thought of using the items around the house. As always, thanks for the inspiration. Hope your week is filled with awesome ideas (so you can share) 😉

Therese Shands 😂😂😂
Me!
Yes yes yes 👍 🙌 👏
This is great x
Thank you so much for this!!! Due to minimal finances I don't have much fancy supplies or equipment.
I love the idea of rummaging through old makeup! It’s going to be fun to use that old stuff! Thanks as always for sharing ideas ... you make me laugh so much .... using up junk mail is awesome too ....

Love these ideas! Just getting back into paper crafts after nearly 20 years away. So many new ideas!
I love this. There is a quote that always inspires me. “Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.” You totally reminded me of that! I love your videos
Way to go,Pam! Cool tips. The shoe polish and eyeshadow really did do the trick. Thanks for sharing! Have a super fantastic day 💜💜💜✌️✌️ Sherry
You are so welcome!
What a beautiful gold color. Love the eyeshadows ❣️
You can get silicone caps in the bakery dept for those icing tubes
Thank you for making this look doable for us newbies!!!❤️👍
I really enjoyed this video and you having giving me some wonderful ideas! I hope you do another like this!🥰
I always love your creativity!
I just love watching your tutorials, you make them very easy to do and you make them fun.
thank you for sharing this!
My pleasure!
Thanks for sharing I have been using this method for over 2 years . I have made some beautiful vintage junk journals ❤️
I know im a little late, but thank you sooooo much for this video!!!!!
Such energy! I’m new and love that your doing a “use what you have” video! I’m also still of the mind (like you said) not sure what I’m doing, or what I’m going to do with it! It’s fun though!
You could also spray hair spray on it ,if your worried about smudges
This world is crazy, Amen sister to that. Even if I never get to make anything, just listened to your beautiful sense of humor brightens my day. So thank you very much for that. I sent you an email question, I hope that wasn't a problem, I know you are super busy. But I trust your advice. Take care and God bless you and yours and keep you safe.

Thank you SO much for sharing this! We are on a tight budget as I am having a hysterectomy Tuesday. This gives me ideas how to still enjoy crafting
