Another great event. After a long hiatus, I had four events last week...alongside a full time job, it was a manic week, great fun though. Ever notice how kit doesn't go back on the vehicle in quite the same way it came off? :D

Thanks for your comments! iPads are a great tool. Some of the bands we have mixed for (on their gear) have iPads. They are great when bands have them... they just give me the iPad and mixing is easy. For us, we don't always mix the same bands, and for almost 70% of our shows, we have never mixed the band (or a group of bands during multi-band events). It's these types of shows that a physical console excels with making timely adjustments. Setting gates/compressors on an iPad can be a problem when speed and accuracy is needed. Setting gates/compressors on a physical console is rather quick... making those same settings on analog gear is even faster! We are not opposed to wireless mixing. For us to provide the level of service we do, a physical console (analog or digital) is what we use.

I started my own sound and light companies over 45 years ago, due to the need of not just my own playing in bands, but also all the other bands (along with my own band(s,)included,) there were several other great bands as well! However, most could not afford all the equipment and moreover due to the fact that the hometown I grew up in, which once upon a time and with two colleges there, we were featured in the guiness book of records for the most bars, pubs, taverns and "watering holes" per capita...😆 (Gods honest truth)...!! But none of those places had any type of pro audio or lighting systems, and several national acts even came out of my hometown, as well as playing there too!! I am a graduate of the Institute Of Audio Research in Greenwich Village, NYC. An AES member, A CSA AE1 FOH/MON Engineer and I was the Senior digital tape engineer/tech at dBm in Manhattan. I still had my light and sound company, and freelanced with "Clair Bro's" from PA, USA, "PROSHO" Staten Island and Sterling Sound, LLC, New Jersey. Where again I was an AE1 FOH & Occasionally a Monitor World AE1. I have somewhere around 4.3K live events under my belt in Arenas, Stadiums, Theaters, even Huge churches when I was out with "Richie Blackmore" and his renaissance band, Nightclubs and.... ok, "watering holes!!"🤣 So, I am a subscriber to your channel, as live sound truly is my addiction... and I always look for others who have the same...👍🏼!! I really do like helping, teaching and giving instruction w/o trying to step on anyone's toes, so to speak. I have watched several of your videos and I have noticed a "few things" or so that I would do differently, but perhaps that is just that, we accomplish the same goals, just from slightly different angles. But there is this, Sooooo......... A couple quick tips/ideas, 1.) I know that road cases and trunks are not exactly cheap, especially when you need specific equipment cases, IE; Your PreSonus Studiolive. I guess you could modify the current case to have a doghouse added on, but that may not be practical. Perhaps in the future you can have cases made or purchased in the PreSonus configuration with Doghouses on board. Also, reconfigure the snake fan out about two feet past the fan out with a consolidated, DT-12 multi pin connector at the console location which simply needs to be married up by both connectors, one to the fan out, and one to the remaining length of cable that is stage bound. Because I have had to replace channel input, insert, direct out, etc. connectors on consoles, as well as fan out connectors due to moderate - heavy usage, resulting in wear and tear that comes from the putting in and removing of all those necessary connectors, which as you know, is absolutely zero fun!! Also I know we as a business are in a lot of "hurry up and wait," situations! But having said that, with the connectors always plugged in, you will shave off about 30 - 40 minutes of both set-up and striking down time! I do know that the console you are using needs very little, or next to no outboard gear, but You of course can also incorporate your FOH mix position sends to outboard gear in a similar connector, or in a small XLR/TRS outboard snake that is also always plugged in the console and ready "to Rock." 2.) I am a little miffed as to why you guys aren't running the monitor speaker cables through a safety loop created by the very same cable and ran through the monitor speaker handle, actually all your speakers, FOH included, be it an XLR feed, AC power, 1/4" or NL4/NL8 connectors really should be done this way as it is, A.) direct strain relief. B.) absolute security from "unwanted detachment," which is the number one killer of speaker wire connectors and or speaker input panel jacks. I have seen them unexpectedly ripped out, and the carnage was fatal, with both amps and speakers alike, not too mention the ridiculous feedback that just about tore everyone's eardrums out!! In a concert venue with 40K ticket holders, it is not such a gigantic worry with boundaries and barriers in place, speakers being flown and the general public without access or no where near anything that could cause a catastrophic failure, safety for gear and humans alike still exists!! But even on a huge stage, it is still slightly possible, though with Sound company built staging, there are wire troughs scattered throughout, and this prevents most "tripping" accidents that result in catastrophic failures to wires and cables alike. But either way, the cable is still looped through the handle, through itself and then into the connection point panel. In your case, or even still in both our case where "drinking" patrons, musicians and other "tippsies" in small "intimate" venues are, or can be so very close to the stage area, that a cable "snagging," or tripping situations is eminent! It is not a matter of if... It truly is a matter of when!!! But generally those "inebriated" or less then aware of the situation trip and fall over a cable, the only real damage sustained is almost always the cable, it's connectors and the panel jack(s,) perhaps an amplifier and all the way up the "return" chain via the snake and back into the console in the form of physical failure and or electrical/signal overload failure! I sincerely don't want to see anyone or anything happen like that during one of those events, HOWEVER... I am even more sincere in my sentiment description with respect to "Stage Left's" gear and equipment, your reputation and professional standards, even with Liability, or no fault insurance... taking the next step with an "ounce of prevention," will surely save you a "ton of aggravation!!!!" ANYWAY, KEEP ON KEEPING ON BROTHER ENGINEER!!!!!! 👍🏼😁 PEACE!!!!!!🤘🏼 P.ost S.cript... Please remember, I am absolutely not looking down my nose and judging you, but rather just trying to be helpful for a "brother" engineer and business owner!!!! Stay safe, be well... and most importantly... BE YOU!!!

That would work, however, where would the audio be coming from in the console? Main mix...? Channel inputs...? The console mix is for a live setting (assuming you would be taking audio from the main out). This rarely sounds good recorded. Taking audio from the console (and to get a decent recording) would require some post-processing work... assuming you would be taking audio from each input. Also, getting audio from the console does NOT provide reference to how the event sounded live.
Terrible band, the drummers tempo is all over over the place and his drum patterns for the songs are almost identical, Listening to the mic check for the drums he obviously doesn't know who do do a correct drum sound check. Drums are not tuned properly either.

Why you didn't use wireless feature of this mixer to mix from tablet/ipad ?
Wireless mixing is ok for some shows, but not for most of the shows we do. We do not use wireless mixing.

they make these things called cases... and you put cables and gear in them...and they can have wheels and everything...
