Now that’s a juicy topic!! I’ve are you using the CQ18? It has its only little set of quirks on the USB side. But, once I played the trial and error game. I learned it a a darn good live stream box. I will work on a video for that
Cool to see this - thanks for making it. I'm looking at a CQ too to replace my multi mixer into RC600 approach. Did I get you right that - your vocals never loop so they stay in CQ, your keys and other instruments are all collapsed into one stereo output sent to RC (for recording and live play-through and muted in the CQ? I'm looking to be able to use all 6 outs on the CQ and send 6 separate instruments into the 6 INs on the RC (so multi track) and be able to control loops on/off.

Thanks for this Rob I use the almost identical gear. The RC 600 and HPD20 with IEM and acoustic plus electric with a Nord Keyboard. Also have two saxes to deal with. And this has always been a worry to have to take two mixers. So this really is helpful. I’m currently playing on a cruise ship and finish in two days. Then when I’m home I will give it a try. Thanks. Interesting, I currently run guitar and bass into rc 600 then a stereo signal to my cq-20. What’s the benefit doing it your way? Or is it just the extra inputs?
@blakecorbettmusic Blake, for me it’s because I’m also running keys and a Roland handsonic drum pad all in stereo. I quickly ran out of inputs on the RC600. Plus, I like the ability to have full EQ, compression etc when mixing live. Great question though!
Scott, it’s a delicate balance of strong signal to and from to avoid clipping. I go through each instrument to make sure I have good signal into the mixer first. I then set the channel out of the mixer into the RC600 instrument 1 at unity. Instrument 1 in the RC600 is set at 100 to start (RC600 level goes to 200 for some odd reason). RC600 master is set to 100 as well so it is a strong signal back into the mixer. Then, mixer mains are set at unity. Getting the strong signals from the mixer is hugely important otherwise your RC600 volumes will be weak. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have other questions

I have a really cheap and old mixer, but it does have aux send and returns You have a really amazing mixer that has lots of extra routing capabilities, but I’m still unsure what this accomplishes
Two reason. 1. I can apply some compression and EQ before hitting the mains. This is important as every room you play is different so I can tailor the EQ to suit the room. 2. Live streaming from the CQ is 1000 times cleaner sounder than from the RC600. I found if I tried to stream from the RC600 I had an audible digital hiss. The CQ onboard processing is so much cleaner sounding. I used to use a Yamaha 12 channel mixer before upgrading to the CQ…vast difference in sound clarity
Hey bro the Auto gain setting on the 18t does not turn the gain up it only brings it down if the signal is too hot. So you definitely want to leave it on especially if you're doing sound for a band. You know how guitar players like to turn up in the middle of the set. This is also helpful for a drooping mic on a drum set. If the signal gets too hot it will turn it down very slowly. Just enough to wear the signal is not clipping. 🤔🤯😁
Hey there! Thanks for the listen. I may have misspoken in the video if I said it turns it up. I’m only running sound for me, myself and I but what I have noticed is the gain fluctuates (mainly vocals). That’s why I use the auto gain feature to set the gain initially and then turn it off. If I understand you correctly, you do not experience that? Let me know your set up!
@@robworkmanmusic3881 there's two different settings "gain set" & " auto gain". Auto gain is used to monitor your gain level. And will bump it down slightly if it goes into the red. Allen & Heath has a ton of videos explaining all of the features on their UA-cam channel. There is a 1.2 version update I suggest you check it out.
I haven’t tried it with multi tracking yet. Most of the time I’m playing solo when I play live. I haven’t recorded into my DAW with it yet either. I can say the pre amps for live use are pretty darn good. Much better than my X - Air I was using! User interface is really intuitive and easy as well. Let me know if you have any other questions!!
Nice...but to be honest.....seems to be a mess of cables there. Don't know exactly which instruments you have....but, may be the same set-up with an AKAI force will be much much cleaner. Specially if you mount all that on a stage...OMG...that must be an effort. Anyway ...thanks for sharing and thanks for your effort making the video.
Ha! Yeah, point well taken. I could do better at cable management. Probably best thing I could do is match cable lengths to inputs better to reduce the clutter. As far as set up time it really isn’t bad. I just unplug from the mixer lay all the cables on my board and reattach at the venue. Everything is labeled so it’s an easy load in. I looked at the Akai, is that something you are using? I would be interested in seeing your set up and how you use it if so! Thanks for the listen and comments!

Will do, I have updated it but haven’t really dove into the new features as of yet.
