I think that Harry Roberts caper occurred on the same day England played the World Cup final vs. Germany - which was another reason it was famous. And maybe why he was always remembered by footy supporters.
I played football against Channings Wood, late '90s. Good team, very fit as you'd expect, a few talented black lads in their number.
When I used to go and see Chelsea back in 70s we had a song about Harry Roberts

my uncle's neighbours best friends milkman once slashed Reggie Kray in Wormwood scrubs . his name was John 'the Slasher' Toomer ?he was 10 years old when he "won some money' in one of their nightclubs back in the 1950's ?

@@PeterMc141 Spelling Police be buggered. It's about having respect for our English language. It's about patriotism essentially and having high standards. How the Hell can 'must OF' make any sense.? It's 'must HAVE' or 'must 'VE'..,....the latter being an abbreviation of 'HAVE'. 'OF' and 'HAVE' do not mean the same. This isn't rocket science. This is basic English that a child in primary school should grasp with ease.
Harry’s x mrs lived facing me, Mitzi Roberts, she had all the paperwork to his trial and some stories.
In reg book he says he had just arrived at park just. He went to the gym. Harry was already in the gym. He told Harry he had never done weight lifting but would like to learn so asked Harry if he would show him. Harry said yes and said to reg try and lift this. Reg did and Harry said he had done well as it weighed 100lb. There was no mention of an argument or fight
All that sounds correct upto the fight i dont think Reg would mention it I wasnt there but Harry told me himself personally and hes not the type to tell tales and its been verified by quite a few other people but i cant say 100% as wasnt there
I'm so embarrassed I used to sing Harry Roberts at football then I read his book wow absolute cowards bullied why are people wasting there breath on such a waster, he's not a gangster never was

Am geordie ste. Won the pool comp at xmas and played cards every weekend on lb3 and lb4. Done gym with harry but i stuck to cardio unless he needed a spotter. Weights not my thing. Hope your doing good wherever you are

Reggie kray was known as ' the hard man of parkhurst' . He would have done harry Roberts no problem. And thats from a p,o who worked there.
