I was a mailman in the 90's. It actually WAS pretty rare. And I wouldn't have pressured anyone who refused delivery. I was always like, "OK, that's fine". I DID have a problem with a woman who was uncertain though. She wanted me to stand there waiting, while she opened it. THEN she refused delivery. Even though I told her I couldn't take it back once she opened it. She argued with me for 10 minutes about it. I told her she had to repackage it and pay for new postage to send it back. She didn't like that.🙄
I recall Seinfeld talking about this episode during an interview. He said the idea came from a member of the shows production staff. She was at a doctors appointment and noticed that "difficult" was noted on her medical chart. So, this was a real thing.

Not shown here - but when Newman Interrogates Jerry drinking a soda, it aired for a long time with: “is that a grape Nehi?” “Yes” “Can I have a sip” “No” - then they for some reason cut it to just “Can I have a sip” “No”.
Still odd that the Seinfeld show would cut that out - it must have been due to the product name, but Seinfeld did product placement all the time. Maybe had something to do with Nehi being sold in 2008 to the Dr Pepper Snapple Group (about the time I noticed the edit). Anyway makes the joke and scene less funny.
8:05 Just an FYI there was smoking allowed in Dr offices up until the early 90s. I’m 51 & I remember as a kid my Dr smoking when he was looking in my ears, throat & listening to my heart. I remember waiting rooms filled with smoke from adult patients. In fact there were few places back then that did not allow smoking.
If you have never watched it, there's a movie called 'Sour Grapes' which was created by Larry David, the guy who helped create the show Seinfeld. The black guy in this episode has a small part in it. Also, the lady from The Nanny who played Fran's grandmother Yetta. It's a '90s movie

Wasn't there another Newman-esque episode where he interrogates Jerry under a hot light and Newman is the one who is sweating profusely while Jerry is sitting comfortably drinking an ice cold can of coke? I thought it was going to be this episode. Also, I think these episodes were all done after the Basic Instinct film starring Sharon Stone.(where Wayne Knight was involved in that iconic interrogation scene).
The Seven is my all-time fav episode. It has everyone, including Newman and Susan, before she accidently expires.The Muffin Top, Festivus, The Urban Sombrero and The Dermatologist are Top level Seinfeld episodes. Newman is my second fav character after Geroge. The episode where Kamaer cancels his mail is pretty good, too. Sorry, I can't remember the name of the episode. You have to do the 2 part finale in the last season. Even if fans hatted it. It is just a bizarre ending but fits with the randomness and sillyness off the show. Only in Seinfeld.

You know whats hilarious. I like the photoshop guy slipped in his racy photos into George’s developed photos, but he didn’t even try to get the photos back when giving them to Newman.
I love the meme they have now of George's photo with the caption "This was considered comically fat in the 90s" And like, yeah, he's not really that fat. Just a little pudgy, or stocky.
