Lessons in Leadership: The Wire - Roland Pryzbylewski

- Опубліковано 21 тра 2021
- Roland 'Prez' Pryzbylewski is one of the few characters in The Wire who's story somewhat plays out like a young adult coming of age story.
Trying to break through a cycle of self-destruction and entitlement isn't as easy as it seems and sometimes going through something tragic is the only thing that can save someone. Find out how Prez's journey is similar to that of the young adults he desperately wants to help

Bubbles journey of redemption is worthy your analysis
🙌
Totally agree!
On God son
Prez and bubbles probably have the two greatest redemption arc on the entire show
I relate to Pryz a lot. Been burnt out and fatigued because of the failure to differentiate work and life. I'm also a bit of a punk, very similar to Pryz, who needed to go through hard lessons in life in order to become aquainted with maturity.
Nice video. His character development was very memorable and noticeable. He was like a teenager who was never taken seriously.
The character progression in this series is second to none. It's a testament to the amazing writers of The Wire! I absolutely loved the progression of Roland Pryzbylewski.
Thank you for doing this one. I can relate to prez in many ways. It’s wild when you’re able to be aware and witness your personal growth as you develop in your career; It’s a humbling experience.
Another good upload. Out of all the people you could have possibly chosen to analyze, I never thought of Prez. Excellent video and I really write some of your points down so I can apply them to my organization. Much appreciated 👌🏾
Thank you!
Prez is the only cop in the entire show who shoots their gun, and we don't see it.
What's good fam keep up the great work love this content
Thank you!
Love these. Thank you sir
We need more of these wire leadership videos
Thanks!
@@LionsandLegions you welcome
And can you do one on randy and how he was selling candy and his downfall was helping lil Kevin trap lex bye telling him go to the playground
Hey man, I think Daniels would make a great video! Thank you as well, these are really interesting
Greatest arc of redemption on the show
Awesome vid, Prez is one of my favorite characters
I love your videos on lessons in leadership. Do a video on Phil Leotardo from The Sopranos... PLEASE
Lessons in Leadership: The Sopranos - Shinebox Edition
@@LionsandLegions “I did 20 phukin years in the can”!
Great Videos Great Lessons and great Comparisons.
Thanks for the video brethren.
Never get tired of rewatching your videos!!
Another great video showing how deep your understanding of the characters in the Wire js
Masterful!!!!
Happy ending but shoots a cop on accident and blinds a kid on purpose.
That’s because that’s life.
he punched the kid on purpose but the blinding was an unintended consequence
@@SantomPh He hit him with the gun butt.
Awesome video! Hopefully you can do more of The Wire.
love these, keep it up. even to the most minor characters, these are so cool.
Great break down of this character- thank you
I love these videos, still waiting on some characters.
Awesome video. I love the redemption arcs in the wire. Would love to see a Carver one too as the arcs are similar.
Carver tha goat
Carver was one of my favorite characters!
@@LionsandLegions awesome, I will be on the lookout for his video😉
Prezbo’s character arc is top 5 in the show
Would love to see more of these character break downs in this way.
Very dope.
Excellent Content!
Great work
I always look forward to your content dude👍
Excellent video my guy
The king is back. 👑
Great videos
I have heard nothing but praise for the actor who portrayed Prez, Jim True-Bent. It seems he's simply a great guy.
My ears are wide open. Saw some parallels in my own life and approach here
Prez got into the police force because of his father-in-law and left because of him.He should remember not to be led by people who can cut you off from their guidance on a whim. Not that Stan was guiding him anywhere.
He is similar to D'Angelo,Cheese, and Ziggy.. they benefit from nepotism.
I enjoy your video essays on the wire a lot, I’d like to see your take on Kima thanks
On point as usual. Never stop. These are great man and you’ll sooo get some proper recognition. My only suggestion would be a better microphone as it sounds a bit raw. But I love these videos. Also my sorta list of people I hope and wish you’d do one day lol - Tywin and Tyrion Lannister. Steve Rodgers. Samuel Jackson as Jules in pulp fiction. The hangman Jon Ruth. And from the wire. I think bunk would be great. Daniels. Omar. And Michael
Your series won't be complete without one on Cedric Daniels.
I love these videos! Would love to see you break down the leadership styles on Mad Men, seeing that environment is probably closer to what many of us work in, as opposed to the characters on The Wire and The Sopranos. Not at all a knock on the ones you’ve done thus far - in my mind, The Wire > Mad Men.
Bro if you're not doing it already, I think you should start writing stories, scripts etc. You're really good at what you're doing here!
Prez is top tier.
#4 never point your weapon at something you’re not willing to destroy
(RIP OMAR 😢) Hey I know it’s been a minute since you’ve been online, but I really think it’s time to drop another video. Not sure if it’s confirmed, but I believe Michael K. Williams (Actor who played Omar Little) has passed away today. Truly heart breaking and I think a video on him would be appropriate.
We need Omar now
Great videos man & could you do a short one on Weebey & Dukie too
Could you relate books like 48 laws of power, art of war, the prince, etc back to scenes/lessons from various shows like wire, house of cards, game of thrones, billions, sopranos, scarface, the godfather, carlitos way, narcos,,real history documentaries, biographies. Please use these to illustrate what it takes to be in power, run an organisation, deal with people, carry one self, make connections, win wars, do business deals etc etc.
Love the vids man had to be the first
Have you ever watched Boardwalk Empire? I'd love to see a lessons in leadership for Gyp Rosetti or Nucky Thompson. Love your videos
Miss you content .
The incident when Prez shot the officer always confused me. Why did he have his gun out in civilian clothes. Yea it was a cop, but gun shots near by, and your gun is out, what cop, is going to identify you by face at night time. Prez had to kick the gun away. So did Prez make a mistake? What was he punished for. Shooting a unidentified armed individual, or his past mistakes?
I wonder if LL would do a video on NoHo Hank
Prez is married, we should mention that. He's not uncomfortable with sexual discussions, just doesn't know how to navigate that publicly. He told the kids about non-sexual types of intimacy like tickling your partner.
How can I donate to the channel?
I need a Nucky Thompson review for sure. Gimme a jimmy darmody one too.
Sorry this is off topic all day. I tried to download your book but your website is down at the moment. You on any other websites? LinkedIn perhaps?
I'm having a few issues with the domain! I'm hoping to have it back up soon!
Right on. I'd love to get my hands on it ASAP. Any other ways to download it would be helpful...But I can wait if I must! 😖
happy ending...this man will live with the murder of a fellow officer forever. it's a decent ending for him overall but that will never leave him.
I would like to see your analysis on Michael(o-dog) of the wire. A prodigy that had taken his own slice of the game just like Omar
Michael and O-Dogg are different people lol. O-Dogg killed Bodie, not Mike. Feel like you probably thought they were the same.
Please do a video like this on characters from snowfall
If you can do a video on Omar that would be so awesome
You should do an analogy on Omar Little, Cheese or Chris
You need to do Rick Grimes from the walking dead.
I'm like Prez. If I'm not engaged I'm watching UA-cam instead of working.
Do one on Chris Partlow
No the fuck you didnt dude keep up the good work 👏🏿💯 grace and peace
Just found your channel, please do Omar.
Prez was a good guy, the streets just take hold of people. He didn't experience or have to live with the hazards of urban life like the 4 boys did, unless he was going to be Colvin to Randy, Michael and Duquan it couldn't be helped.
Good guy, tell that to the guy he abused.
My only knock on prez is when they refused to let him keep dukie back he didn’t quit and go back to the force he knew the school system was failing then he could have helped randy too also remember dukie is the one who found the bodies in the vacant they could have used him to make that case
I’ll never understand why dukie didn’t tell prez about those bodies in the vacants he was the first too know about them randy just knew lex was in one but thought he was a zombie
Good point 🤔
@@vt-yp7yq prez could have rejoined the force and made a difference and dukie would have had real protection
I didn't realize you were a small youtuber
Please do duke
Your content is great. Please do Power next
Do Carver!!
You should do McNulty next.
Hahaha! Prez and "Intimate" question in the classroom.
Tickling isn't intimate it's weird provoked laughter through physical contact; for some people, bring up horrible memories and makes *everyone* fart.
speak for yourself. some women love the intimacy.
I disagree with you at the gun going off accidentally thing. Prez confesses at later season that he do stupid shit like that is for him to be kicked out of the force because he really don't want to be a police in the first place.
He resigned, he didn’t get kicked off the force.
@@730FlightRisk he wanted to be kicked out of the force in earlier episodes is what im saying.
*Kimmy, Poot, Namond, and Prez are the only ones who had good endings*
Namond
@@fallonsfox7864 *Faaaaaacts! Nay definitely had a good ending*
Edit
Chardene ended up with Freamon, she had a great ending. Slim Charles was "good" within the street lense.
Anthony Dewberry
This character for me was overshadowed by mcnulty & Bunk because of his lack personality & being a pushover type.
police Ziggy sobotka
While I was glad he grew up a bit, I never stopped hating this character. He's a grown man with the emotionally maturity of a child; and that fact mixed with the power he seeks (as a way to feel fulfilled and validated because he has no sense of real self value) and his entanglement, mean that his childishness, ignorance, lack of self awareness, purposelessness, and his vague, impotent fury, lead him to irrevocably damage people who don't deserve it and cannot retaliate; for no other reason than him being immature. No matter his "growth", those harms still exist, and he failed to gain a sense of responsibility and emotional maturity until tragically late in his life --- his "redemption arc" is won through the direct harm of other people. An absolute fucking child.
You mad it took a long time for his lesson to be learned but some people live for 80 years and then die never having learned anything
3 rules of gun safety 1 dont own a gun, 2 stay away from guns, 3 stay away from guns
Engaging people at their level makes little sense to me
I’m so glad this guy burned out of the non-profit sector to make these vids lol
