I love how Weebay made Namond realise that Bodie actually made a logical decision surrendering to Marlo , Namond talks down on Bodie as if he lost respect for him whilst Bay knows Bodie is wise for giving up to Marlo . Namond tries to display his heart & toughness to his father by telling him he would of stood tall against Chris Marlo & Snoop though bay respects his heart he informs him it would of been the wrong move to make based off the game not being like it used to, just off that exchange we get a psychological glimpse of why Namond isn’t cut out for the game Namond isn’t wise enough to make smart decisions he is more interested in looking tough than surviving which would of got him whacked sooner than later.

Something else to consider with regards to Wee Bey's professionalism is his connection to Striger Bell. Stringer, while not as cut throat as Bey or Avon, or as shrew at business as someone like Clay Davis, he was incredibly disciplined, so much so that he even had to remind and double down on the rules with Wee Bey. It can be argued that not only did Season 3 highlight the deficiency or breakdown in the game, with the rise of Marlow, but it also demonstrated the breakdown in professionalism because Stringer was arguably the more effective leader (as he actually led most of the day to day operations in season 1, including hits) but he was only effective as long as someone like Wee Bey was at his disposal. It's interesting how the downfall of an entire organization can be traced to one character like this. Good shit.

I remember watching for the first time when Wee-Bey says "...and anywhere you call home. It'll be my name that finds you" and DeLonda looks terrified because she knows that his name carries such respect that if he tells Avon or Stringer that she's gotta go, then she's gone. No questions asked. She lives on a knife's edge. She wanted to be part of the game and be gangster but didn't think through the consequences of attaching herself to a soldier/assassin. She figured that having Namond and being attached to Bey would set her up for life and give her a rep. She didn't realise that in the scheme of things she's kinda worthless and expendable. Double edged sword.

Seriously though not glorifying the streets it's not glamorous but he understood no one made him do any of that shit I mean hell even Avon when they was talking in the cell didn't know some work Weebay did which tells you he's not looking for a name & what he does for a living was truly him. He took responsibility for his actions alone didn't blame no one didn't feel some type of way towards Avon going in & getting out super fast & he didn't look at Stringer funny when he didn't get booked. Weebay was real as they come besides how tall he stood for the crew what made me really tip my hat towards him was when he let his only child his only son have a future outside his name to live with Bunny Colvin says a lot about his character as a man. Shot out to Bunny Colvin as well for when he talked to Weebay he treated him with the up most respect & never looked down or act like he was better than him.

The wire is truly so good for the stories that they don’t tell you, the stories that you uncover on a second watch, and even all the trough lines and parallels in scenes that seemingly might not matter. it paints this picture of how the injustice involved in some of the systems in place can create these almost lose lose situations for the lower class, and in some cases the branches of the government causing problems for the other systems in place. I love all the seasons, but I think season 4 really illustrates how early the cycle begins that everyone in the show gets trapped in. All these social, political, and economic problems start almost immediately in childhood. Schools are usually the first "institution" we're exposed to, and in most cases in America, it's the first institution to fail us, and set us up for the rest of the cycle the show explores. The school system depicted in the wire is not much different than a prison system. A lot of these kids don't stand a chance right out of the gate...

I been a police since right before season one. I have watched every episode several times, and own some on DVD. Every time I go back, I see something new. I want to thank you, tho, for bringing me a perspective I could have never known. Your insight through the lens of your life experience in these videos allows me to more fully appreciate the genius behind this series. Thank you for bringing that, and please keep it up. I'm a fan.

OMG this is the best break down of Wee Bea I’ve ever heard! You broke it down to really show that he was actually Avon’s right hand man!

Facts Season 1 and 3 were the best. As I started to watch the series over a few times. It’s crazy the Wire shows every part of a city. Everyone that lives in it, and how each piece effects another. No other show does this successfully other than the Wire. Which is why it is the best series ever in my opinion.

You’re perspective and analysis is on point. I’m from west Baltimore and I was around as a teen when the wire was filming. You should do videos on Power and Raising Kanan.
