One of the most genuine prison stories I've heard in years. Most people that tell their story make it seem like they were the biggest and baddest in the place. While the majority that serve time, really try to stay out the way.
Her life gets better after having been in prison for 5 years. She is more disciplined, physically fit, employed, aware of her social environment, and sober. I am impressed with this lady and respect her a lot.

Dad would make me smoke pot when he had to take me to school when I was in the 5th grade and i can remember him laughing when i was walking from the truck...i would go in the front door of the school and then go out the back door..i always thought he was so cool until i got grown and had my own kids..
These interviews are remarkable and Ian does an outstanding job. I hope he does follow up shows with some of these folks focusing on their craziest war stories.

My brother gave me a "prison " tat when I was 14....he built a homemade tattoo gun....I was the baby and a GIRL...my dad (Airborne Ranger) just damn near murdered us both....I can still hear him "that better come off, scrub that until it's gone" damn....its still not gone...😅😅😅

Also like she said”No real scarring from scratching and picking at sores” Agree with you 100% on two good parents and kid can still go off the rails.I have a son with cerebral palsy. We’re very active in special Olympics. We’ve had a ton of kids through the years staying or living at our home. Along with that comes the parents. The stories you hear from these kids break your heart. Some don’t wanna go home. You can tell in a different environment they would thrive. I by no means have the perfect home but it’s safe in a safe small town and we love our kids. That’s about all you can ask for. Have a good holiday Tristan.

I loved your podcast and I understand the editing, etc but where times that things got confused with questions then the spending and then coming back. For example; when you ask her about her childhood and she say when she did use it for the first would be a great opportunity to she take us how it was till her adult life, traumas etc. You changed the “subject” and then come back with questions that could have been answered from the first one 😊 just a observation ❤

This was Ok story but let’s be real and honest this is not a bad ass mom… don’t try to okie doke the audience and glamorize convict moms as bad ass … we f up and go to prison for years and the kids pay the price big time! I kept waiting for the bad ass mom part and it never happened. Try to be more realistic and accurate with the titles. Your young and still learning just food for thought. I’ll be the first to admit I was a shitty mom. I thank God my kids had an amazing Dad and families that stepped up to the plate when I failed. I’ve paid what I think is the ultimate price for my drug use. I didn’t get my kids back after I was released from prison. Losing my kids is a life sentence. Nobodies fault but mine. But ya know what is badass. That I’m not that shitty mom anymore. That my kids know more love and are so well taken care of, with everything they need. I’m good with that. People make mistakes, it’s learning from those mistakes to do better, be a better person. That’s badass.

Can you imagine walking into the mhc and the receptionist say hey sharon have you seen the paper today boy was I in shock and total denial until that day changed our lives forever
Most mothers want a different life for their children… I can understand addiction but I’ll never understand a mother that doesn’t protect and provide for her child! I don’t understand any man being attracted to a woman who doesn’t take care of her children..

You have no control over addiction. Can love your children and try to be sober, but some people that addiction is stronger than the person
