    What an eloquent and passionate guy - AND he is honest - his time in prison may have made him who he is today but he realizes what damage he did and what damage it did to him. I really heard the honesty when in the catch in his voice when he describes the damage he did. No self-glorification.

      Chad's book is well worth buying to read, it's real and raw, gives you a great insight into how Chad turned his life around 180,all them years in the prison law library paid off, he got himself set free, and has won many other prisoners case's, and today, they are all free, thanks to all the hard work Chad has done, thank you for your kind words about Chad, BOTRW TV FAMILY LOVE AND RESPECT, 💯💯💯💯💯

      @@richarddowling912 not to mention a great narrator, even if the way he says documentary & elementary drives me crazy lol. But him saying it makes me giggle instead of being annoyed now (know a dude from Buffalo who says those words the same way & it always annoyed me, guess its just a regional thing🤷‍♀️)

    I also served 19 years in federal prison. In 2020 I filed a compassionate release. I won and an order was issued to release me within 10 days. I was to be home by my birthday January 16. We were on covid lock down at the time so we only got the phone once a week. I couldn't sleep counting down the days. On my birthday I didn't understand why I was still there, I'm at the door asking whats going on. When I called my mother that day she was crying, telling me the prosecutor appealed because of a knife case I caught at usp Florence that added time to my sentence but was never brought up in my compassionate release. The government won their appeal, but I was still released to halfway house on July 31st 2021 after sitting another 7 months.

    Chad, we move forward in life for all the right reasons. When we are young, there is much we just don't understand. As we get older and more mature, we begin to understand, a little at a time, why it is important to move forward. You are absolutely correct, you lost 18 years in prison but, right now, you are somewhere else. Changing priorities is very important. I believe you are on this road.

    • @michaelgriffin7639
      @michaelgriffin7639 Рік тому

      That’s an interesting idea. What professional guidelines do you think would prevent the professional jury from corruption? I wish more out of people, but I think they would be taking deals and naturally become befriended by the DA office etc. What about travel juror? Willing to travel to different jury assignments out of your state so you are not bias. These would most likely be young people with flexibility and without families who are interested in some type of the law as a later profession. If I were an aspiring lawyer, a year or two as a paid travel juror I would be great experience. I would ACTUALLY LISTEN to the trial. And whether it takes 2 hours or 20 to come up with a decision, the decision is read on a Friday. There is no going home early you deliberate all week regardless (3-4 hours a day I guess whatever) Long winded- but I never thought of a professional jury that’s something to consider. I think you’re really on to something there.

    Ian, drug dealers do kill people, unintentionally, but it happens. One of my daughter's friends died last year from recreational cocaine use. It was laced with fentanyl. The kid only used cocaine about 4 times a year.

    • @shaneculkin7124
      @shaneculkin7124 Рік тому

      Roxanne, respectfully I must disagree. And I am very, very glad you mentioned the fentanyl.
      It remains BECAUSE drugs are illegal that drugs are able to be processed/made, packaged, and distributed by who knows!!?!! Possibly by evil people. And definitely by people who do-not-care.
      PLEASE tell me you are not for more laws. This is a large problem with the Democrats (and I know Republicans are responsible for the dumb War On Drugs). Much like Gun Control, criminals don't obey laws, --- so pass all the laws you want.

I absolutely cannot imagine two decades. That shit breaks my heart for all those caged because of money.
    Literally .
    Because that's ultimately what it's about.
    Money.
    His comment about it feeling like a rich white den in court , that's because it is. The judicial system is a business not justice. Think about it. Bond ... Money.... Court costs.... money.. an inmate incarcerated... state makes money every day your there. License for atty to "do business".. Atty fees ... Money , etc
    All about money. It's a business and he's right there is no compassion.
    My prayers go out to those locked up . May God be with them and strengthen them

      It’s a two tiered justice system as well. If you are rich, you can hire high powered attorneys and bond out. If you’re politically connected or are in state govt or federal govt, you pretty much get a free pass so long as your crimes aren’t blatant… unless you’re hillary Clinton, the. You can have a whole case laid out on national TV and have the FBI director say that there was no intent so there’s no crime., and get off scot-free.
      The rest of us who don’t have tens of millions of dollars or aren’t connected to people in high places politically, we go through another tier of justice where the outcomes aren’t as good.

      Republicans are the ones we have (well, Libertarians) to depend on to fight for our personal freedoms. Not Democrats. They are ALWAYS passing new laws, never repealing. The last thing we need are more laws.

    It's insane how people's lives are played with like they mean nothing. I was ready to go home based on the deal made between my lawyer and the judge. I had done my program plus an extra 2 months waiting for an opening, just to go to court on a Friday and be told by the judge "i don't like releasing people on Fridays. They're more likely to offend" only to spend another week, and be released on a Thursday. K

    I was on jury duty a few years ago. It was for a fight in prison and they were trying to charge him with all kinds of crazy shit. I held it up because the jurors just wanted to come back with a guilty verdict to be done with it. I fought it because there was not enough evidence at all.

      @@chopper1168 I think people feel pressured to make a decision, or they will follow the group and go along with what the majority says. This may be done because the people don’t want to ruffle feathers and go against the grain or it may be done because they don’t want to be there. Instead of everybody going into a room and deciding, maybe have people write down anonymously what their verdict is, cast their “vote”, and then find out what the decision is. Somebody’s life hangs in the balance and it would really be shitty to be sent to prison because people followed the group or just cast their decision with the majority so that they can go home. It’s not like their deciding what to eat or what show to watch, but whether or not a person is going to be sentenced to something that may affect the rest of their lives and their family’s lives forever.
      Again, what you did is honorable and I hope more people do what you do when serving on a jury.

    I would say drugs are a crime against humanity BUT the punishment is excessive. The reason it’s excessive is because the government doesn’t want people to make money without their hands in it. That’s the bottom line. It’s no longer about society and a moral clause.
