In today’s episode of Figuring Out, we have Dr. PM Nair in conversation with Raj Shamani.
He is a retired IPS officer and has been director of CBI. He has been part of many famous Indian cases and greatly contributed. He is an international expert on human traff*cking matters and a professional law enforcement expert. He is also Kamayogi in public service.
In this episode, we talked about why Indians are scared of the police, how that problem can be solved, and how he solved a s*xual exploitation case and saved 27 kids. He explained the entire human traff*cking racket, how they work, the dark reality of human traff*cking in India, various traumatizing stories, and much more. We then talked about his role in the CBI, how the CBI works, and how they do raids. He also shared the story of Rajiv Gandhi's assassination case.
Towards the end, we talked about why numbers are rising in India of watching child p*rnography, cyber crimes that lead to human traff*cking, how organ traff*cking is happening in India, how under the business promotion esc*rt services are being run, whether pr*stitution is legal in India and why police are still not able to catch these people. Hi, The podcast covered a relevant topic with an excellent guest, making it highly informative as it touched upon all key areas.

This video's is an eye opener. There should be definitely update in our police system in India .
1) 12 hours working shift should be changed from 12 hours to 8 hours.
2) Quarterly medical and physiological checkup of the all the police officer irrespective of there post .
3) All police officials should have counselling.
4) All police should have body cams which is having full recording of there activity in solving crimes and routine checks. Body camera can used as evidence in court. So the cases can be closed on time without any delay and undue pressure to the police officer.
I think if the above things are followed efficiency of Indian cops will increase. Our population can get best from the police .

I am a British citizen of Indian origin I was visiting Mumbai as my father had passed away at about 10 pm in April 2002 so I was told to collect things for the funeral from the shop opposite creametriom in Santa Cruz west so on my way I went to Santacruz west on linking road to ask direction and the officer was downright rude. So my experience was not good.
I think now a days all citizen specially adolescents age group should be more self aware rather than we completely depend on police in case like human trafficking.

Children issues are on the rise and we as a society need more knowledge about their education,health,nutrition,schooling,behaviour understanding etc ..if you come with this it will be immensely helpful.

Suggestion: If you research the topic for questions, you should also give suggestions on what can be done to mitigate the problems.. These high profile guys who are answering your questions can also influence the decision makers if your suggestions are good. To prevent these crimes against kids, why is the Indian government not using the vast pool of defense personnel to address these crimes. They are already well trained to fight the external enemies so why not these internal local goons. If anyone is in defense background or their relatives are in the army, they all know how these young army adults spend there entire days doing minimal productive work.. Officers can do the roles of police officers and lower ranks can probably be the manpower to do investigations and groundwork.. Army should not be only involved in extreme weather situations. Police should only be responsible for petty thefts and anymore dangerous should be handled by Army.. There are more than a million soldiers to utilize.. They will all stay active and will also have an interesting life and experience!
