This song is criminally underrated. It should have won all the awards the year it was released.
ACobra289 agreed. For sure. These guys provided the soundtrack for my crumbling marriage. That was 2015. Still this song in particular hits me right in the gut. Not sure I’ve ever shared like this on social media. But hearing this song, and knowing maybe I should not play it. Because of what it will do to my being in the moment. Cathartic? Perhaps. I hope it brings as much to another. The pain comes with the love. The love lives in the dreams.
How it is underrated? Every show are sold out
Romain VanMoerbeke yes! I I’d agree with you 100%. FI is a huge band. David Letterman knew as much. Years ago. My comment was more or less celebrating the OG comment. However, perhaps more airplay and press is what how “underrated” meant. The pop side of things if you will. Peace.
@@larrybronaugh8262 I was juste playing dumb, sorry my Friend, here in France there was a Big popularity boost with the4th LP in the hipster scene, but still, I dont know anybody who knows/loves them ^^. I still remember the first Time i Heard Tin Man back in the days. What an Amazing band. Peace
Romain VanMoerbeke agreed brother. You truly HEAR them. It’s really good stuff. I try to share or talk about w/ most who know me. #grateful
I’m a 43 year old cancer survivor who found the love of my life 8 years ago. I’ve lost 6 babies early on and now we are healthfully pregnant with a baby boy due in August .. this song as always hit close to home but todays Mother’s Day and he’s kickin and all I can’t think is “I’ve been waiting on you “ .. the biggest tears of joy while I hear my favorite song ❤
Good luck it's a wild ride parenthood you'll love it ❤
God Bless!
Keep going, believe this time all will be well, and I do believe it you find a song that speaks to you and uplifts you, then it truly will give you power and energy for what lies ahead xx
Dios te bendiga mujer mis mejores deseos para ti
Wow for someone who's life has gone tits up I'm so pleased for you god bless you and your baby x
I am 72 and first saw these at Glastonbury and was bowled over. Age doesn't stop me recognising fantastic music. Brilliant stage presence. I love this group ❤️
Just found out about them recently, I am seeing them in September!
im 89 and tbh this song just lit, no cap.
I totally agree with you.
Amazing song!!!
Same mate am 56 love them music has no age limit don't think they are spring chickens either ha
@@jamiematt 😁😁
First heard this song on the 'Avios' TV advert in the UK. Love it! It's one of those songs that give me the shivers. 💖👍
Same here… grabbed me straight away 💖
Same here. Gives me the goosebumps 💜
Was the reason I googled this song! Heard this song a long while back but faded into the depths of my memory until now
Same here. Heard it on a recent British Airways flight and looked it up.
Me too! Amazing song.
This song is both a banger and a tearjerker. That's insane.
Exactly! I like to call that melancholepic, and I've actually made a list on Spotify with that name that includes this song. I'm a sucker for that type of music.

Just like life
It's great. I similarly am experiencing what I call colliding emotions; which is why I am listening to this today. I love it.
Wow. It's been a while since I heard a singing voice that conveyed just about every single possible emotion at once. Seriously, that guy's voice is amazing.
You're god damn right.
Daniel Titchener You certainly could have said 'you're damn right' without taking the Lord's name in vain.
Lol. I knew someone would respond with something like that. Can't wait to see his (Daniel's) response.
Christopher Walker It's a Walter White quote...
TheAndrewj96 you should check out their performance of this song on letterman. it's very intense. so good
"People change
But you know some people never do
You know when people change
They gain a piece but they lose one, too"
I love this lyric, it really hits for me. Very well written.
Yes, nice poetry with a life advising message.
"but the winter will crave what has gone,
Will crave what has all gone away"
This is my favorite music video of all time. It really paints a romantic picture of my country life. A beautiful culture that often gets overlooked.
it's a really sympathetic look at a culture that takes a lot of low-blows now
A romantic reality that doesn’t exist if you’re not white, straight or religiously naive. I’ve seen that America and they’re awful. Can’t wait to get back to Australia.
I love country life! I grew up on a farm and took it for granted until now! Sometime, I think about wanting to go back 😢
Love the song, but the video, my absolute favorite, nothing else even comes close, makes me homesick, but proud of where I came from.
Im 54 gave up being a drug dickhead and now found love of my life and never been happier in my life this song said it all ♥️
Sweet and so happy for you bud 😊
It's great, isn't it? All good things and I'm happy for you living it!
Awesome brotha! Positive brings positive..and aint nothing more positive than love. May yours live forever
This made me so happy to see. Stay strong brother, you've got this
@@_gamerbear thank you Amanda means a lot
This is one of the most romantic songs I have ever heard.
Can’t believe it’s taken me this many years to watch the official video to this song. How beautiful. One of my all-time favorite songs and definitely my favorite Letterman musical performance ever.
Pure class!
YES!! The letterman performance!!!
Same here, but the video is not that great lol I’ll stay with the live performances!
Best ever performance Letterman ever had!!!!!!
Ooh buddy I'll take all of what ya got"
Going into the 2020s and this song only ages better as time progresses. Simply one of the greatest songs ever written.
no it does not
LG Sabinbe
I like the song alot but I cannot agree that it is "simply the greatest song ever written"! It does stand out to a point. How can a comparison be made to other unique bands though that write their own material? It simply is not good enough! I have plenty of examples if you would like friendly debate lol Xx
@@garypaulmusgrave8273 One of. Not really rocket science behind it. Just out of all the songs I've ever heard, this is one that has stood the test of time for me.
@@audioredux6836 its definitely a beautiful song, it brings me back to 2014 when I used to ride the bike with my hipster friends and smoke weed back home, life was simpler lol, we loved to listen and dance with this song. If you love it then you should listen to Born Unslippy, which is the soundtrack from the movie Transpoiting, i find a huge similitude at the beggining of the songs.
It's 2021, and I am regularly and strangely drawn back again and again. I can't fight the pull!
Same here. I was raised in the countryside. Lots of hardworking and humble people that influenced the man I am today.

I couldn't agree more!
The whole Singles is magnificent!
In memory of a very special person.... never forgotten 💙
What a tune ❤
This is such an underrated song that deserves so much more publicity.
+Bob Bobbins It was named the best summer song of 2014, how is that underrated?
You are under arrest for snapping half of the universe
Evios have just launched a TV advert using this track.Simply Brilliant 👍
Their first appearance on David Letterman back in 2012… Brought me here. And I am still here all these years later!
i did not expect this kind of video to go with this song, but it does. gives me chills. A man who loves his woman and his kids is damn sexy.
So good!
i didn't know you were into these guys. they are bowieesque.
taylor sylvester well now you know. and knowing is half the battle.
Good taste!
Artyom Komeko good name, man.

It is September 2019. My son is 5 years old now. My wife used to play this song for him before he was born in Mommy's tummy, he used to move and kick a bit, then after he was born he would recognize the song and stop everything just to be hypnotized listening to the song. Then he fell in love with the video. We just played it again and he still loves it!! And so do we!!
@@robari2410
We played this while I was in labor
This video captures the rapturous joy of love. Between and man and woman, parents and their children, and of people in a faith community, and a man and his horse. truly beautiful and profound. It is a joy to watch .
They opened for Weezer tonight. I was in awe by these guys. This was a great song live 😢
im not usually a fan of this type of music but this one i loved and listen to it over and over~ future islands....youve won this grandma over to your side of the street ~ great song love it!! good job
You're a cool grandma :)
I can't listen to this song without crying. Hats off to everyone behind the music video and the genius of showcasing the courage of everyday love and compassion.
Lol they're literally divorced now 🤣
Never understood what it was to be an infatuas fan of anything or anybody...till I heard these guys ...and I'm a 65 year old man ..just seen them live in dublin ireland ..fantastic gig ..Collins barracks. Sam is the man also rest of the guys ..thank you for a memorable night ❤
🎉
didnt expect to find an underrated banger of a song to go in my rotation in an avios advert but here we are
Best song I've heard in a long long time.!!
Seasons change
And I tried hard just to soften you
And seasons change
But I've grown tired of trying to change for you
'Cause I've been waiting on you
I've been waiting on you
'Cause I've been waiting on you
I've been waiting on you
As it breaks
The summer will wake
But the winter will wash what is left
Of the taste
As it breaks
The summer will warm
But the winter will crave what is gone
Will crave what has all
Gone away
People change
But you know some people never do
You know when people change
They gain a piece but they lose one too
'Cause I've been hanging on you
I've been waiting on you
'Cause I've been waiting on you
I've been hanging on you
As it breaks
The summer will wake
But the winter will wash what is left
Of the taste
As it breaks
The summer will warm
But the winter will crave what is gone
Will crave what is gone
Will crave what has all
Gone away
'Cause I've been waiting on you
Thanks
Thank you! :)
Although I've lived in SoCal for 8 years, I was born and raised in "flyover country" like the folks in this video and this video wholly encapsulates everything that we're about. It's absolutely magical; I can smell the scents of Fall in this video. I can feel my family and the community in it. They're the best people in the world from the best place in the world. I'm so happy Future Islands chose it for their video of an amazing song.
Go back, man. What do you do in SoCal...
Born, raised and still live in OK, pretty sure this video was shot here judging by the dealer tag on the truck. I've been to maybe 2 rodeos in my life, can't ride a horse, etc, but driven so many of these roads, been in countless bar and seen so many of these fields, watching this video and hearing this song, as we're heading into fall, just brings back so many memories.BTW, seeing Future Islands tomorrow night, can't wait to hear this live.
I'm looking into moving out to one that is fully open actually. The sense of faith community and hard ship is what is calling me. living life in a city is just to easy and its killing my soul at 40 years of age
Maybe the best song of this decade.
+Peter Walsh I agree with you
+Joey Foscor I am right there with you.
Easy, there.
Yup. Im not even huge on these guys but it really might be one of the best.
The song is ok, lets not get out of control here. Your comment was three years ago, assume you have kicked the habit
As a horse person, and having grown up on a farm, this is my favorite video, and the song is powerful and refreshing
Yeah I agree, I love the video, it depicts farm life and rural America
10 years on & only just discovered this song & the band , awesome is the only way to describe it , can’t stop playing this in my car !!!! ❤❤❤
I totally agree
Wowsa!! What a song.
Years ago the love of my life introduced me to this song, but seasons changed and now I crave what's all gone away.
Good luck my friend ❤
There's better out there or maybe just not the right time!
"yesterday's gone, you can't get it back"---Capt. Gus MacRae (Lonesome Dove)
Stay strong, my friend!
@@keonagirl435 Not better, just different. There is always somebody for everybody.
man, this song just grabs me by the balls everytime.
Well, that was unexpected, moving, and absolutely friggin' beautiful.
This is one of those songs you want to share with EVERYONE you know and be like “OMG Listen, isn’t this one of the greatest songs you’ve ever heard??”.
But you don’t. For fear of them going ‘meh’ and then you have to cull them from your friend circle.
I feel the same about The Rat, by The Walkmen (which I was listening to when the Spotify algorithm landed me on this tune)
I'm 584 and horses were the only way to get around when I was 44. I hated the lightbulb but it's growing on me.
bhshshsshshahaha
This song enjoyed a new lease of life in Britain in 2024, when it featured in an advertisement for Avios. Brilliant song, and the woman who appears in the video is beautiful.
The advert brought me here 😅
Definitely needed to know your thoughts on the woman.
im addicted to this, this guy really pours his entire being into his singing and strangely i think this video goes with the song
Yeah I agree.
The video is beautiful and goes so well with the song!
When a relationships ends, but that one is hopeful for its resurrection... you pray and hope for not necessarily a change in other person, but that you yourself change for the better. The lyrics beautifully, desperately, and hauntingly capture that angst of waiting for your loved one to turn back.
Yes. I know.
after almost 4 years living alone I'm still praying..
@@demo3456 My heart goes to you, Friend. Personally, I’ve been drawing closer to Jesus Christ. As my relationship grows with Him, I’m discovering that He is all I need. Sure, I get lonely from a worldly perspective, but complete joy only comes from God, and not from another person. Praying for you as well. Blessings!
Really love this video. Don’t know how I missed it a decade ago. Seems a lot of us in the UK find ourselves here thanks to that TV ad. What the ad is about escapes me, but the tune got me. I just want an eFoil!
First exposure to this track was only this week (June 2019) at a funeral in the most perfect setting of St Monans Auld Kirk Scotland, the setting and the acoustics in the hall really done this track justice.
Thanks Mrs D...
R.I.P.
Real people, real life, real music. Well done!
I don't know how many times I've listened to this song or seen this clip. I just simply love it!!!
This is MUSIC!
They really need more recognition, they're really good.
A happy little sad song with an 80s feel - never heard it before but I really like it a lot! Definitely needs to be played loudly in the car on a dark road late at night -windows down - and the feel of the night air blowing thru your hair! I love it!❤❤❤
Yes!
thats actually a 90 theme but I forgive you

Gigi Drummond love your name and the song. My name is Gerry Drummond lol
You capture my thoughts that in a time now past, but still I wish that I could have sat next to you in the car on that dark late night driving to anywhere listening to such songs without a care in the world. If only Xx
I think Gigi said "90's feel"........
This song will make its debut in an HBO show and it will forever be remembered as that. Let's enjoy it while we can lads 😉
The obsession with this song is strong. 2019
Absolutely! btw what do you think of this one? ua-cam.com/video/uYLBP3B0uM0/v-deo.html
"whenpeople change.... They gain a peace.... But they lose one (a piece) too" so strong, so true, so powerful

yes! 2020
Been my favorite song of all time for 5 years now
There is nothing better than growing up in small town america. I live in the city now but it is always a treat coming home.
I can tell you whats better than growing up in small town America. Growing up literally anywhere else in the world.
Considering this song is about Love, and the patience love can bring. I am from California and my sister lives in Texas. She and her husband are like this couple. when we think of country folk we image country music... Instead of country lyrics. This song is very very powerful in the aspect of universal acceptance. Love is Love, no matter if you have a cowboy hat on or dreadlocks. Love is the Universal Truth.
Wrong.
The song is about a person that is not changing and it is hurting the relationship. The singer is in pain because he is waiting fort someone that will never change.
@@richarddecredico6098 People can interpret art however they like
Yes Joe C. It's very important that people understand that, but it's HARD TO tell racists children about that! They're so stuck on them and loving only their race that they have no love or respect in their heart towards others!
@@richarddecredico6098 I believe that too!
Reminds of my ex...well she left when I couldn't change literally.
I really like this video. I'm not American (Aussie) but I have no doubt we'd have similar outback scenes in my country. It's nice seeing the rural life of America portrayed. It's not easy - it's tough, hard work, etc, but there's love and there is community and support. The video really enhances the song, I think!
yeah there's not enough being said about the video itself
It took a TV advert, AVIOS, to bring this beautiful track out into the world.
Same with me..... It's a fantastic song, it touched me immediately when I first heard it.
I agree.
The track is indeed amazing.
Just seen the video from Glastonbury.
The frontman has such a stage presence.
And same with me too. Absolutely amazing song.
Absolutely beautiful,soul searching
Don't know why but this song gives me peace of mind.
Likely because you are not paying attention to the lyrics and what it is actually about.
Ditto, it's subliminal
Haha I found the same so relaxing think it's the music
A few years ago my dad had showed me the singer of this band performing this song and he was dancing funny and for some reason I decided to look it up but I'm glad I did because I didn't realize how good this song actually is
Capturing them riding side by side on horse is really powerful. She's so Beautiful, wow.
Best song of the 2010s.
One of the most beautiful songs ever made ❤
New Future Islands, YES PLEASE!
I saw this band on mute during Letterman's final week. I thought who is this frontman dancing like this? Now obsessed fan. Genius fellas. Lifelong fan here!!
what a beautiful portrayal of distinctly American scenes. great song, great video.
I’m tired of chasing. Just feel like sitting on a bench in a park, not waiting for anyone for once. And remembering as the seasons change, time passes like the weather and so too will this endeavor.
@@ba1428 I wrote a poem about how I felt. How this song and my experiences made me feel

Watching this over and over again. The video and song is incredible. I've never heard this band before but they are amazing
They've been out a long time ( like nearly a decade now) and they've put out great albums. This is like the 4th video i've commented on, but fuck it, In evening Air is their best, and it's genuinely creative and deep.

There's something unique about this band... Love it!
Haven't been as excited discovering a new band as Future Islands for a long time, simply brilliant!
Great song and the video clip is the icing on the cake. Top class song mated to such amazing videography is so good. Thanks.

"It has been said that a woman marries a man hoping he will change, while a man marries a woman hoping she will never change. This song is about the end of such a relationship. The Summer of the relationship is the time of warmth, peace and companionship. The Winter is the time of coldness to each other, and the memory of Summer only brings more pain with the realization of what has been lost and can't be recovered. Spring rarely comes twice to a couple.
The man had tried to change, but in the end it only led to a sense of frustration and failure. It is not his fault. At least not all of it. I have lived this."

where is this from?
Beautifully put. ❤️
Truth❤
This man brought out every emotion within me when I watched him on Jools Holland tonight. It's amazing to see and hear a band that aren't superficial and who focus not on sounding perfect, but on conveying the song lyrics with all of the emotion that they were written to evoke. Damn.
A great little band. Saw them when they supported The Strokes at Hyde Park London. Such a great frontman, got the crowd going.
It's where I first saw them. I think I prefer the live version, it allows the rawness to really come through
This makes me miss my hometown in Texas. So much so, I started crying

Teresa Clower mainly the east Texas area. I have a lot of family down there

Daniel Castillo this was shot in and around Madill, OK.
This band is bringing back the old sounds with this song. LOVE IT
Yes yes yes I agree!
My son 21 years old introduced me to this band! Love it!
Wow this an outstanding video. Great cinematography - kudos to Kyle Repka! I like the song but this is maybe the first time ever that I enjoyed the video even more! Great portrait of simple, unadulterated joy of a small community. I often feel so disconnected living in LA.
When a great song meets ditto film the result can be overwhelming. A masterpiece.
If I play the record, I can still visualize the film in my mind.
Nevertheless, I always wanna return to the actual video time and again.
There's so many warm feelings in this one, love and tenderness.
It's a charming portrayal of rural America and I love it! 🌿
At first I was like, "What's with this video?" And then at around the 2 minute mark I was like, "This is absolutely perfect."
this music video is beautiful and simple
Does anyone else like crave this song sometimes. Like you just have to stop what you're doing and listen to it?
Sure, it's almost impossible to do something else because Seasons is so damn good!
This song and video in particular helped me see the "other side" during Trump's presidency. I was so filled with negativity about the "other side", but after seeing this I realized we all want the same damn things in life and made a stand to not let politics make me hate my fellow countrymen. Thank you Future Islands, you helped me more than I can say.
My favorite country western group for sure

mick reynolds they played Glastonbury 5/6 years ago. You’ll love the capturing live sessions. There on UA-cam
This single has single-handedly restored my faith & interest in music !......
You sing through the music, like existence matters, through the dusk of space and time
Want to give a shoutout to the editor and director. From 1:47 to 2:22 is some of the most beautful cutting i've ever seen. Truly captures the meat of this video and gets me coming back year after year. Cudos.
Amazing. This song is absolutely brilliant. Love this band.
I don't know if it's just the song or the video but it's a haunting sound crossing the years. Future Islands was at once pretty inspired. Pictures from lone star people, simple and out of time are quite amazing, as if coming from what would be perfect harmony. Thank so much for such a jewel.
I agree entirely and your comment is philosophical and interesting in very broad terms, thanks!
Seasons change, but this song remains a huge hit in a parallel universe or something
The power of the advert...heard this song and ordered the album " Singles " which is ace
Bin gerade aus dem Schwimmbad gekommen und höre das und mein 5 järiger sitzt neben mir was ein Moment.
Leute lebt euer Leben es ist toll
I show this little film to my students as an example to follow. Love it and the band.
Only discovered them last year on UA-cam, and then by a pure miracle saw them last night in a 1500-person venue here in Perth, Western Australia. Sam mentioned they were celebrating 17 years; well, they performed as fresh and humble as if it was year 1. They played for almost two hours and were extraordinary! The crowd noise that followed Seasons was the loudest I have ever heard in my 54 years. I see why long-time fans worship Sam; he's like a peace-loving tornado on stage. I honestly felt like I had somehow evolved after this gig. If you get a chance, go! Thanks, Gerrit, William, Sam, and Michael, for an incredible show.
I saw them last night in a Brisbane at the Powerhouse - they definitely had a great vibe and the crowd loved them.
I discovered them last week ! WOW.

I'm constantly forgetting the artist and name of this song but I always manage to find it again and again. It just sticks with me.
4AD never misses. I love this song. Singer reminds me a bit of Tom Jones with his soulful delivery.
